Excellent.
Really accessible, ostensibly straightforward, but with great scoring and risk/reward systems that promote up-front aggressive play.
A blast. Love it.

You don't often see Caravan-style shooters much since most douin STGs take more after Cave-style manic shooters. It's a very different experience. Short levels with few enemies and bullets may seem underwhelming to those more used to the latter, but it challenges you to maximise your scoring even if just clearing the level is fairly straightforward.

Crystal Breaker is a lot of fun. It has good music, good graphics, good control, and a lot to dodge. It has improvements over the typical shoot 'em up such as taking no contact damage and being able to destroy some enemy projectiles.

yeah its very exciting - the fast pace gets me pumped up. would have liked a bit more variation in music and bosses, and I personally would have liked there to be more enemies appearing at once maybe (though I like that this game isn't designed to be overly difficult), but I really enjoyed the concept of an all-caravan shmup. gonna keep chasing scores for a while

Terarin does it again! This is almost the opposite of a Danmaku bullet hell, focusing on speed and offence instead of defence and pure bullet dodging. I like it! Like many of Terarin's game's it has that PC-Engine/TurboGrafx-16 Aesthetic and feel, but a lot more intense and fast! I cleared the game so far on normal difficulty! There's a huge difficulty spike (mostly due to length) on the last level but i can be cleared with some practice. Of the two playable characters I think Jenny is much better than Layla. Layla has better range with her weapons but she's significantly weaker than Jenny! Jenny just cuts through bosses and bigger ships like butter with much fewer hits than Layla and that's a much bigger advantage in this game than Layla's slightly better range. Highly recommended! Now I'm trying to clear the game on Hard!

Writing this after beating the game on Normal.
I found this to be an enjoyable caravan style shmup, with it's own unqiue mechanical slant.
Nothing entirely new, but enjoyable.
Survival is pretty easy.. Even on expert mode, once at Full Power, you can camp at the top of the screen.
Getting high scores requires more skill but for me, the game runs out of interest at around the 4 hour mark.

Pop ups on screen can interfere with boss bullets (not the ones you can remove). This is a no go. Put the bonuses off to the side where they are not taking up screen space.

Listen, this is a great shmup, but I'm going to need the devs to address that the level of flashing in the menus is just flat out irresponsible and deserves to have a toggle.
I'll absolutely swap my review to positive if this issue is addressed. It's just too glaring of a flaw for me to overlook and my complaint on the discussion page was met with radio silence.

I think I've been looking for a simple shump like this for a while. Solid and simple controls and mechanics that help make it easy to zip through each stage. I'm a fan of the presentation and the level of challenge. Really happy with this purchase.
