Democracy 3: Social Engineering DLC
This expansion for Democracy 3 adds new dilemmas and policies which allow you to exert subtle change upon your country. Income taxes and Economic policy are big blunt instruments, but with social engineering you get to influence the population in far subtler ways.

Reflects to current day politics and furthers the complexity to the game. I really enjoy it

Both DLC can be summed up here, your paying $5 for essentially mods you could probably get for free somewhere online (such as the steam workshop) made by someone else

This mod is as outdated now as it was at inception. Either the Devs race neutral, colorblind or race incompetent, certainly no workable insight into cultural ethnocentrism or intersectionality. I have played 3 out of 4 recent play-through as USA and each time I was assassinated by the Black Power Group (there is little to NO historical precedent for any black or indigenous group attempting to assassinate a sitting president, yet here we are.) So whatever math that triggers this as an option is just suspect. I am pro 2nd Amendment, so I am either lightly tweaking toward responsible policy or leaving it as is, limiting for profit prisons, and pushing for community policing. I am aggravating large sectors but patriots stay highly green, as if none of them are black (not even the 12 per cent of pop.) as do civil servants, and retirees. Even as GDP increases, and likely voters increase, the threat level is coming from the group due to "policies", and yet even when I aggravate "liberals", they don't try to assassinate me, only the Black Power Group, wtfh? Here is an opportunity to mod with BLM ( with real world expectations vs Dev bias), reallocate funding from police militarization instead of just community policing, emphasis on mental health funding (which would be a universal benefit). DNA handling, govt vs corporate and just for giggles, SOCIAL media, since we obviously have some elected officials who try to legislate through this. Include scenarios from the Supreme Court, the Senate and House leadership, and foreign influence and the impact on First Nation indigenous peoples? Acknowledge and trigger for acts of WP terrorism which has actually occurred instead of this BPG fantasy. Acknowledge immigration issues as complex, not just two or three triggers. And boy are you NOWHERE close to dealing with the impact of legalization, socialization and taxation of marijuana. It's time for the Devs to rethink the way they approach this game. Modding this is when the basic math is skewed against reality undermines the games value to experimenting with solutions.

This DLC doesn't overhaul the game, but it does expand on the variables at play in your sandbox. It would be weird to play the game without most of these as they touch on a number always relevant policies. Ultimately, this is probably the DLC that feels the most like the base game, but by the same token is the least flashy of the lot. This is worth picking up as part of a bundle, but wouldn't pitch buying this at full price on its own.

No, don't buy this, it adds minor things like, policies that affect only 1 thing, MANY OF THOSE, imagine a policy that only cost 2 PC, but only decreses card usage by a bit, the only thing cool here, (listen to me) THE ONLY THING COOL HERE, is the business start up program, and the young entreprenur scheme, only 2-3 COOL POLICIES, for 4.99 don't buy this, the only down side is that you need this to have some mods, but if you dont want to spend money and if you dont like the game as much, this dlc will not make you change your oppinion!
3/10 ----- Only for the mods and for the business....

The new policies are minor but useful, and they work just fine in my game. Something that could make this overpriced mod even better is if the creator would make any of the dilemmas actually work.

Excellent job. When you make an incentive for hybrid cars more people become enviromentalists. When you tax the crap out of automobiles more people use public transportation. When the countries poverty is lowered the percentage of the poor population lowers. The policies add increased immersion as well. It may not add much but it carries on the democracy 3 spirit of experimentation.

The DLC for the Democracy series at this time is not bad, however the gameplay value is minor; for the most part there are mods out there that do more to alter gameplay. This DLC is nice but in my opinion not worth five dollars, wait for a sale. Overall the DLC is fun, just not very important.
