It's a decent game and its one that is totally up my alley as a huge Doom Eternal, Devil Daggers, Ruiner and Nex Machina fan. I'm through 4/5ths of the game on Acolyte and dabbled in the Knight difficulty. The aesthetics and vibes are cool, the game nails the stuff I care the least about, so I guess keep that in mind. The refilling of resources with active reload and moving between melee, heavy and light weapons, dodging enemies and managing space never felt overwhelming to me and I was able to very swiftly get into the "groove" of how Kill Knight seemingly wants you to play. Main take is this: Kill Knight has a weird kinda of flat gamefeel to it and I think it doesn't do enough to actually let the player make meaningful choices. This results in a lot of wins feeling like attrition through what can sometimes be pretty dull sections rather than a learned mastery. None of the weapons feel especially good to use, rotating to aim out of things like a dash is always a bit slower than you expect, launching the health regen cannon is an odd button combo, dashes need to be held to get full i frames, every cooldown or resource feels just that extra little bit more undertuned to toughen the game up, levels are hilariously long for a game with 5 enemy types and I think most of all its just kind of flat and shallow. I will say I kinda like the greatsword, but the crazy forward momentum making the already kinda weird attack parry even weirder is a bit of a shame. Not to bang on about this but for real the main weapons, the pistols, all versions of them feel so pea shootery, like were Nerfgun Knight. I get they are weak so we use the shotgun, but did they have to even *sound* like "hey you should really use the shotgun these are pretty bad"? I have to assume almost all of the above are in service of game balance, and ya, it all balances out to be a hard game. Or at least a game that you wont beat on your first few tries. It just doesn't feel like I play any better when I win than when I lose. I just don't die in the one single 30 second section dangerous in a 10 minute level. The things you'll die to the most on your first playthrough will be traps and hazards that are telegraphed in ways you wont feasibly see on your first try and the things you'll die to the most on later replays is "that one specific room with the weird laser pattern" in level 4 or 5. It'll take 5 minutes of threatless combat to get back to where that was and you go at it again. I actually purchased this game at its full price initially, after being extremely excited for it, and returned after it just feeling kind of shallow and flat. I gave it another shot when it went on sale and at about 150 minutes and halfway through floor 4 felt like I had seen everything. I was going to wait to review until after I'd cleared floor 5 but I honestly don't find the game compelling enough to keep dodging floor 5 lasers. I remember Doom Eternal had a message like "Every death in Doom has something to teach you". Kill Knights is really "Every death in Kill Knight is probably not gonna happen next time anyway, except maybe the lasers" I'm really surprised I'm not into this one but ya, it didn't hit. I think if you're a sweaty Eternal player or Devil Daggers player, you won't get the itch scratch from Kill Knight.

This is, potentially, one of the best designed gamed games i have ever played. Every system flows back into itself, making the gameplay loop very satisfying. It is hard, but never unfair, i have never had a moment where i thought "its impossible to avoid this" And there is enough weapon/armor variety that there is atleast going to be 1 combination that works for your playstyle. The ost slaps, the aesthetic of the hud and ui is amazing, and overall its just absolutely amazingly designed. If you want a game that'll keep you entertained for days on end, i would highly recommend picking it up

Feels like twin-stick DOOM Eternal. Focus is on technical control of the horde and utilizing techniques to replenish resources. A true bullet hell survival game.

It's hard but fun, I like that the new gear can be purchased if the unlock requirement is to difficult. It's basically a top down twin stick Doom Eternal

Game is great, love aesthetics and sound design. Lots of good mechanics, fast combat and cool gear unlocks keep it fresh and interesting. If you aren't sure when to use sword attacks - at least kill weak enemies to refill heavy ammo(its really strong). Don't forget that holding parry will enter hyperdrive/slowmotion mode but it consumes a sword charge(icons at the bottom), and having 3 of those charges allows for a strong AOE attack on Q. Finished it on Acolyte difficulty but can't beat last level on Sufferance - its so intense sometimes i forget to breathe, and when i lose i think im seeing stars circling around my head. I'm gonna give it some tries before i give up tho... Edit: I've suffered enough, but i finished it. And so can you.

This game goes hard. Feels like a top-down Doom. Very aggressive gameplay. Non-stop movement. Gears of war active reload with 3 different ways to engage with it. Decent amount of equipment to unlock. Challenging but fair.
