Roguelike permadeath at it's finest. Lovecraft would be proud. Gameplay mechanics goes very deep and doesnt get boring fast.

Good for first 20 hours, but the combat is not dynamic enough to sustain the immense grind for resources this game requires. Shame because the atmosphere and presentation is A+.

Great game, great mechanics but…
DD is for me an absolute banger and I am just addicted to the gameplay loop of leveling heroes, slaying bosses and getting stressed by some random skeletons with wine in Ruins.
But there are some mechanics that arent my favourite like whole Crimson Court where there are random guys spreding AIDS or big fucking croc guy. I know crimson court is isn’t recomended to new players but someone had to say it. Whole concept of Butcher’s Circus is (for me) boring so i haven’t played almost anything from it.
Some people say DD is hard because of RNG and yea they’re partly true but this game makes you work mostly with action economy. That is harder than some percents.
Also fuck you Spiders, Mosquitos and Fanatic.

My biggest complaint with this game is even on the recommended difficulty it feels almost unplayable. Early on enemies can really fuck you up sanity-wise, and there's not much of a defense against it. You spend all of your hard earned money just to keep people alive so you can get them past level 1.
And the thing is, it didn't used to be like this the first time I played. I feel like this game fell into the trap of making the game harder for the people who mastered the game, instead of leaving the difficulty alone for new players or casual players.
Not to mention even early on in the game you miss your enemies more often than they miss you.
I know they've made the second game already, but man I kinda wish they'd roll the difficulty back a bit.

IM DARKENING MY DUNGEON RN THIS GAME IS SO GOOD IT MAKES ME WANNA CRYY
On a serious note, I would highly recommend this game, mainly because the gameplay loop is fun and its difficult without having a grueling learning curve to work around

I think this game was a response for the lack of challenge people felt was in their games and lives when this game came out. I think this is a pendulum swing that swung too far.
Once you get the knack of the game, it isn't so much that it's hard, but rather that it's tedious in a way that isn't fun. Your characters aren't characters really, they're resources to be expended for progression. The mechanics of the fights are extremely RNG dependent, so you have to look past the current dungeon and plan ahead. It leaves little room for strategy, and more like you're reacting to the RNG that occurs, which is always tilted against you.
At first it's frustrating as hell, then you get used to it and it's just boring and kind of depressing. You don't feel like you have much control of anything because in order to get anywhere, you have to roll the die and hope your party doesn't self-sabotage itself too hard before you can finish out the dungeon. When you inevitably lose characters, or gamble your entire party and lose, then you have to spend time rerunning content to build new characters to flip the coin all over again.
This game doesn't allow for the player to have much agency, the strategy is to stay patient and take the smartest risks you can, all of which are stacked against you, and don't get attached to any of your characters because eventually rng will claim them.
If you crave struggle for struggle's sake, or if you're an outright masochist who enjoys grinding, you might like this game. Maybe you just want to feel like you accomplished something but withstanding the punishment, so you can hold it over other people's heads or something if that's your thing. Otherwise, I don't recommend it. This game isn't fun, it's just a long lesson in learning how to move on from loss.

This game is not fun if you're not masochistic. It's challenging but not in a fun way like say dark souls would be. What do I mean by this? In dark souls any challenge can be overcome with skill like learning attack patterns, knowing when to dodge and parry. This game? No, you could go in a prepared as you fucking can and still have your entire party wiped because the game decided the enemy should land 6 crits in a row while 3 of your teammates either miss or the enemy dodge. This game has features to make losing a character less frustrating like giving you their trinkets back on death or upgrading the stage coach so that higher level characters can join so you don't have to start entirely by scratch. Other than all that the game IS NOT for people who want a challenge that actually requires you to use every bit of brain power you have, this game just masks complete rng bullshit as 'A challenge' the game even says this game is about making the best out of a bad situation but you physically can't because its just luck based at the end of the day. Even on its easiest difficulty you will struggle to the point of dropping the game entirely. Bad game design if they want reoccurring players or players recommending this.
Is this to say its a bad game? No, this game is amazing. Just the game being designed around losing literal HOURS of work by luck based shenanigans is something not everyone will put up with.
(Edit: This edit is after getting an email stating received rewards and realizing some information I failed to mention.) My hours on steam and or PC don't reflect how much times I've actually put into this game so at first glance it looks like someone who bought the game played a little and then made a angry review without first actually trying. I've actually played DD on Xbox long before actually getting it on steam, I don't know the hours off the top of my head but I've played it for months when first getting it due to my love for the style and voice acting and idea behind it and even almost beat it at one point before moving on to different games.
With that said thanks for the rewards even if the jester ones was meant to be demeaning or insulting, points are points and if you can't handle an opinion then that's on you.
