This game is not for me. I'm surprised it has such a high recommend rating. I completed the story before I posted (11hrs of game play).
The game locks the abilities behind content; this means back tracking and being unsure if you have the tools for a particular section.
Most of the challenges I found frustrating rather than rewarding when completed. The "timed" sections are stupid; the scripted
environmental changes include unnecessary camera shifts and shakes. Complete in 1 go requirements mean you can't wait to complete it.
I don't care for the story - no idea what that stupid bird antagonist wants. The cut scenes (note the prologue is good example) are unskippable every time; occasionally requires you to move in them slowly, so that wastes more time.
To summarise the frustration, this game does not respect your time. You have to do everything at the pace "as designed". As a platformer, it doesn't reward or aid mastery of mechanics.
TLDR much better to watch as a Lets Play.

A metroidvania masterpiece. It's a great game, visually, narratively and gameplay wise. I ended up chasing all of the achievements, including the 3 hour speedrun and immortal. This thing runs perfectly on the Steamdeck and was a joy to play.
I've heard others so the definitive edition is better overall but I never ran into any of the bugs others have reported and the new quality of life additions like the zone teleporting between the wells never really bothered me.

Ori and the Blind Forest walk so that Will of the Wisps could run, but that doesn't make the Blind Forest a bad game. Between its beautiful art design, breath-taking soundtrack, and gripping story, the Blind Forest is an experience you will not forget. I would recommend this game, if it weren't delisted.

If aliens come and ask me what's about this games people play and can I show him some good game, I'd pick Ori. It is the best game I ever played. It is beautiful, it is hard even on normal settings, it has a great story, it has wast worlds that take ages to explore. I bought this game to play with my kids in the time of lockdown and pandemic and we all were captivated by it. I wish they work on 3rd sequel.

Beautiful visual style combined with a great, emotional story creates a mix of positive feelings.
The soundtrack composed by Gareth Coker is a masterpiece for ears (sometimes I just want to sit down and listen to the songs than play).
I'm a huge fan of Ori, always feel relaxed and kind of free from the world when I play.
The incredible impressions guaranteed.

One of my favourite games. Amazing touching story. The art is breathtaking. The hard mode makes it very challenging at some places

Hats off to Moon Studio. This is an amazing and heart-warming game. The visuals and soundtrack are breathtaking.
In my 1st playthrough I died so many times (100+💀🤦) that I feel sorry for Ori, so I decided to do an immortal run and that was insanely difficult, as well as satisfying. It balances the amount of challenge well.
Anyways, I highly recommend this wonderful 2D platformer to everyone.

I’ll be honest, I played the last 2D game was Sonic the Hedgehog, after playing Crysis I was never a 2D platform gamer. The genre never really pulled me in, and I always gravitated towards other types of games. But then I stumbled upon Ori and the Blind Forest, and let me tell you… this game changed everything.
From the moment I started playing, I was completely mesmerized. The visuals, the music, the atmosphere—it all blended together to create something truly magical. I came in as a skeptic, and I left as a huge fan.
A Visual and Artistic Masterpiece
I don’t think words can do justice to how stunning this game looks. Every frame feels like a living painting, with breathtaking environments that are rich in color and depth. The way light filters through the trees, the movement of Ori, and the sheer attention to detail in every level, it’s a feast for the eyes.
Even if you’ve never played a 2D platformer before, the art alone will keep you invested. Whether you’re exploring the lush greenery of the Sunken Glades or escaping a raging flood, every moment is visually unforgettable.
A Soundtrack That Touches the Soul
If you ever want to feel a game through music, this is the one. The Ori and the Blind Forest soundtrack is a masterpiece on its own—melancholic, uplifting, and perfectly timed with every moment of the game.
The orchestral pieces tug at your heartstrings, and the way the music swells during emotional moments is nothing short of perfection. I found myself just pausing at times, letting the music wash over me. It’s that powerful.
Gameplay: Challenging but Rewarding
For someone who never played platformers, I won’t lie, this game challenged me. It’s fluid, fast-paced, and at times, brutally difficult. But every challenge feels fair, and when you finally nail that perfect jump or make it past an intense sequence, the satisfaction is unreal.
The movement mechanics are smooth as butter, and Ori’s abilities evolve in a way that makes gameplay feel fresh throughout. The game teaches you without holding your hand, and that sense of discovery is something I deeply appreciated.
An Emotional Story That Stays With You
I didn’t expect to feel so much while playing this game, but here I am, still thinking about its story. Without using much dialogue, Ori and the Blind Forest tells a deeply emotional tale of love, loss, and perseverance. It’s simple yet incredibly powerful.
This is the kind of game that makes you reflect, not just on the story itself, but on themes of sacrifice, belonging, and the beauty of life. And when a game can do that? That’s something truly special.
Pros:

Cons:

Can be quite challenging – If you're not used to platformers, expect a learning curve.

Save system takes some getting used to – The manual save mechanic is unique but can catch you off guard.

You might cry – Not really a con, but this game will hit you in the feels.
Conclusion:
I went into Ori and the Blind Forest not expecting much, after all, 2D platformers weren’t my thing. But this game proved me completely wrong. It’s a work of art, a journey of emotions, and one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve had in gaming.
If you’re even remotely curious, play it. Even if you’re not a 2D platformer fan like I was, this game will win you over. Trust me, I came for the visuals, stayed for the music, and left with a new appreciation for an entire genre.
