Very cool game from my childhood, one of my favorite games. Sound in cut scenes stops working and some of the music cuts off. Other than that it runs great!

i figured i should atleast write something for my favorite game from my childhood. this game is excellent, it runs really good on my potatoe of a laptop and its just as fun as i remember and it is a trip down memory road as i play cause i remember so much that i'd thought i wouldn't. cannot recommend it enough if you are looking for a cowboy game that came before red dead redemption this is a fantastic choice alongside red dead revolver.

One of my favorite games of all time. The atmosphere and story and soundtrack are crazy good for a title that never went big. Just wish it was longer or got a sequel. Too late for that now.

Worth playing for nostalgia reasons, and fine as an early exploration into open-world shooters, but has a small map and other limits compared to modern titles in the genre. The plot is gritty, and includes unflinching violence, sexism, and racism (but although the game portrays these things, that does not mean to say that the game promotes them). Culturally, the game was successful at opening a dialogue about problematic history that had been glossed over in the past. By having the protagonist change allegiances between colonial and native powers, we at least get some exposure to the idea that the "good guys" simply aren't that from another perspective. However, some stereotypes persist, the Chinese immigrants are not given a voice, and you will see some offensive content. There are plenty of things to call out in your cultural studies thesis. In a way, the fact that the game is culturally outdated is a good sign that we're making social progress. Did I enjoy the game when it came out? Definitely. Did I enjoy replaying it recently for nostalgia? Yes. The gameplay is smooth, the writing is witty, the sound is good. The graphics are definitely legacy. Would I recommend it to others in general? Probably not, unless you have a specific reason you're interested. I ended up playing with keyboard and mouse, because even though my controller was supported and played okay (8bitdo SN30 pro), I didn't have enough buttons on the controller to assign all the keybinds that the game expects us to use. My classic playthrough was on the Gamecube version which consolidated some control schemes (walking, crouching, weapon switching) to fit on a controller. This version assumes keyboard and has a lot of independent binds. I encountered a few crashes (easy to manage by saving regularly) and one technical issue where I was able to change the game resolution to a setting that my monitor did not support, which then got locked in to some config file somewhere and did not revert upon game restart or uninstall / reinstall (without deleting save files). Since the game did not confirm and automatically revert the setting if no confirmation is provided, as soon as I applied the setting, it took some work to navigate the menus blind and back out the change. I'm not sure that anyone else will encounter a similar issue, though. Overall, you probably want to play another game like perhaps Red Dead Redemption.

an incredible tale about a cowboy named colton white who's on a hunt for a lost city made of gold, this game is geniunely incredible, its open world, has great quests, different weapons and enemies and an insane storyline, sometimes its easy, sometimes its hard but this is probably the best wild west game ive ever played, id say even better than red dead redemption

If you liked Red Dead Redemption 1 / 2, wanted more, but are ok with 2008 graphics and control jank appropriate for that time, give this game a look. I enjoyed the story pretty well. About 5-6 hrs long, plus optional side quests.

Fun game but left it running for about 100+ hours on my pc. Definitely not 100+ hours worth of content in this game lol.

An oldie but a goodie. The grandfather of RDR and RDR2. Plays well on modern systems, although I recommend downloading both the 60fps patch and the widescreen patch which you can find here in the Steam guides, since they make the experience much more pleasant. Other than that, if you like western stories and don't mind dated graphics, you're certainly going to enjoy this game.
