I would say this is a must have for this game! Was very intresting.

I never felt this good slaying people 10/10 want become undead again

Cool features, but not polished.

The undead are very very badly designed and dont fit in the game mechanics. They are really hard to play and the UI is cant play them at all so they are pretty much a useless addition.

Everyone whines about how garbage the undead are compared to everyone else with their absolutely horrid growth mechanic. What most of the reviews utterly forget is that you can totally make custom factions. Making a custom leader still uses this faction, but you can create a custom faction keep the awesome skeleton looks, and drop the awful growth penalty. Sure you lose out on unit wages being free. Who cares. One of the FEW 4x games that lets you live out your necromancer fantasies.

Undead cities have no growth and must build mortuaries, but need no food. You must 'assimilate' other humanoids by defeating them in battle and their undead soul becomes a resident of your undead cities. This DLC Opens up Necromancy as well.

The undead race doesn't play well with the rest of the game. They lack in growth to such a degree that - They are the least advanced technologicaly by far - They depend on having both essence and natural death shards in order to expand over time - The undead benefits are not linked to the race but available to any custom faction - The AI cannot play them effectively - Cannot produce many troops - Relies on random resource deposits on the map (almost no metal, crystal or mana) Undead are far from weak early on however as they abuse the only 3 bonuses they have - Female undead (ghosts) have a 50% resistance to physical damage (design your own) - Unique racial trait allows them to recover or increase their numbers with every kill in combat - No upkeep (Quendar can do the same with slaves which can be customised) Should they be used in multiplayer the opponent will eventually spam hostile spells on the world map to get rid of them, use a mob of mages to wipe out groups of them or use troops with superior equipment to overwhelm the facton. Undead are the underdog faction of this game unfortunately due to the AI (with normal unit design) and are utterly useless against a real person. See the guide for city level bonuses then deduct about 2 to 4 of each of your prefered bonuses and you can see why the undead are weak. If you want a challenge try all the other base game races first each has a very different ideal style of play.

It's an interesting race but unpolished and very hard to play. You gain population by killing Humans and Fallens ONLY, as well as razing cities. And a tiny amount from certain buildings. Very very slow to upgrade your cities, or if ever. They should include killing monsters for population gains too, but unfortunately not.
