Winston thought he could use heavy machinery and power from the depths of hell to transform sinful men into magic ponies. Winston was wrong.

It's essentially the same as it was in the DreadX collection, but with some minor improvements. If you liked it there, you may also like it in standalone form here

This is a game that i would say if its like 1-2$ play it and quit if its annoying its cool to see for a few minutes but its kinda annoying to finish when they add in long range enemies into gameplay thats not meant for it and i got to the fourth room and decided that was enough cool to see where dave got some ideas from and the aesthetic is cool. i would say if its on sale give it a try 1-2 dollars is nothing but if you do not finish it thats fine. Soft rec because of the price being almost nothing soft no because its kind of annoying and unfun

One of the few games where low visibility is done well, and also one of the few games that pulls off the "VHS" effect well. I like the VHS effect more here than in Butcher's Creek as it's really just some slight film grain and perhaps some fine grained unsharp masking. Subtlety is key! The combat is really fun, forcing you to switch between your flashlight & bolt gun frequently. Enemy attacks can be tricky to dodge and move around a lot making aiming a bit of a challenge.
The dark humor is well placed, it's scary even if it doesn't take itself too seriously. Also the actual modelling is really well done, the bolt gun looks like an official HL2 model from Valve. Good job Dave!
The gradual introduction of colors makes them feel a lot more impactful than they otherwise would be, I especially like that sickly green color. It also makes the backtracking less boring as colors are added to previous areas, though since the game is relatively short and you get a new upgrade along the way it isn't really an issue to begin with. The final boss is simple but fun, all it needs to be really. Was satisfying to have a meat sponge to unload your upgraded bolt gun into.
Dave excels at world building & knowing how far he can push a single concept or idea without it getting stale. This is an extremely solid purchase for $4.
It's also pretty damn scary.

if you remember this from Dread X Collection 1, then yes this is the same game except they expanded it further to make up for it with added boss fight at the end for normal mode and additional four extra modes, they also included classic mode if you want to revisit the original dread x version anytime you want.
