I had to edit a file to get the resolution to work, but it was well described and thumb tacked in discussion. I am really enjoying the game play and the unique system they have created. Very good game, I would highly recommend!

The proactive stance the developer is taking to refine his game for his playerbase is honestly enough for me to recommend fans of the prior games to give Renaissance a shot.

I've had a great experience playing this game so far. The game places you right in the thick of the renaissance era, with all its political intrigue, wars, and economic growth. You take on the role of a noble, managing your city, trading goods, and waging war to expand your territory. The battles are a standout feature - commanding armies in large-scale sieges, complete with intricate tactical options, offers a thrilling experience.
If you're a fan of strategy games and enjoy historical settings, Renaissance Kingdom Wars is absolutely worth your time. It's a challenging yet rewarding journey through one of history's most fascinating periods.

I really want to give it a thumbs up cuz the concept is fun, but way too many crashes at the moment. Every time it loads from town/city view back to world map or from battle to world map there is a chance of a fatal crash. I have the latest i7 and a 4060 and the game is installed on SSD so it's def not the problem with my system.
12/19/24 Edit: I'll give this game another shot after the updates hopefully the crashes have been fixed. Developers seems responsive and are working hard I'll change the review to a positive for now.

Hey all !
Just my review for this recently released game.
Initially found the graphics very 90s but once you get used to them it adds to the games charm.
The game play is excellent and I love the fact that you start as a lowly commander without any property to speak of.
However in the tutorial it guides you in acquiring your first hamlet and the rest as they say dear reader is history.
I do Believe the devs have a potentially great game here.
I hope they continue to add to it and with time this could be a fantastic game set in the renaissance.
Good work devs and thanks.
P.S Its worth every cent for so much gameplay.

I love the concept of this game. I love playing as Spain. I love the idea of water battles.
A few days ago I tried a water battle....HORRIBLE, truly horrible. My cannons could not move at all, and didnt even fire at targets in range. Cav also could not move, so over 50% of my army was immobilised and sat still until death. I reloaded the battle multiple times to see if it was player error....nope just bugs.
Today I saw that the update fixed a lot....so I decided to give it another shot. NOW THE GAME CRASHES ON LOADING! Yippie!
Horrible. In its current state this is a very promising waste of money.

When is the "2000 retro look" excuse going to stop being used? i very much like the idea of your games and that's why i keep buying them, but i will take longer and longer to buy the next version and buy at a cheaper price every time. You have not done a proper improvement to your "in-house engine" first iteration of the game, the same bugs, same glitches, you added a few features here or there but nothing i would call an improvement. If you are unable to improve your engine just use one of the available ones, i'm sure there's plenty for you to chose from. Your development at this point from one game to the other is to create some new skins , some new lords and change the date, you even kept the same freaking skins from the previous games in the game files as could be seen from that train wreck of a launch you had. Stop being lazy and greedy and upgrade your freaking engine already or a least spend some time improving it since it doesn't take that much effort to create a few skins for a different time period, especially not enough time for you to charge 40 euros for a reskin. DO BETTER

This game series, from Medieval II to now, has experienced a Renaissance, but they haven't made many improvements. They haven't even done proper research or restoration of basic Renaissance-era technology or armor. They've only added two so-called iconic elements to represent the Renaissance: firearms and cannons. As for other unit types, there is no visual change at all. Renaissance-era soldiers are still wearing mid-medieval armor and clothing. The AI is stiff, and there doesn't seem to be any improvement in its logic. It's 2024, and they still haven't added a more convenient borderless window mode. It feels like they're repeatedly trying to trick players into spending money. I wouldn't recommend buying it.
