First of all! Me First! The game had a strong sense of impact, and what impressed me the most was the interaction with the target, allowing them to capture the enemy directly. The impact was very strong, and the controls were considered good in VR, with special height settings for the real characters, it's an elaborate game! Great Reviews!

I think this game has potential. It needs controller offset settings. Currently with the quest pro, my weapon is about 35 degrees forward from my controller grip angle. If I could adjust the angle, I would have a lot of fun playing this game.

The casual dungeon massacre version.
so far it is a progressive project, very interesting looking potential for RPG reminiscent of old d&d or death trap dungeon-esk exploration adventure. The art for me stands out alot the huge tortured souls in towering backdrops, skulls, bowl smoking stone monks }:), demonic loading screens, interesting voiced characters, bosses, missions, good tracking, Attack and counter work well, dual wield is DAM good! the scenery is never dull! iam starting to like this game alot! new elements are being added and tweaked.
End.
full review of chapter 1.
So initially i had some issues with this game and controller support so my xp was limited to punching the dermal challenged enemies, I asked for help from the dev.. He informed me it was the controller then that he was trying to interrogate this type, i offered to help test it, at this point i realised dev is A 1man army as in a day or so a test was ready, I DL'd & pushed the missing buttons, both menus present & ready for mayhem, gone where the days where I would have to wedge a bone head upsided down in a corner to read the menus in peace (hahahaha!), a few short days later the patch is ready, seems pretty good going, imagine if this guy had a full team??!
Basically i had a problem now there is no problem, sure its still early test days for this adventure but ive had a laugh & by meaning of celebration i will continue laying complete waste and devastation to all i meet and smearing their blood bones & gibbs all over the lvl like Parmesan cheese in the church of the flying spaghetti monster.
so far i am happy to see that both the attack and counter of swords are working to a satisfying degree, yes on my old vive neolithic hammers! (wands?)
whats more this game has NPCS WITH MISSIONS!!!, had no idea }:) ....found a boss kicked his ass then came back and did it again, good mini workout! (add music for aerobics)
earobic combat instuctions.
block
Hackaty-dowaAA!
repeat
rinse (perspiration warning)
ive also been informed that all the 'pre sword' bags of bones I roughed up are recovering & have received their get well soon banana gift basket!
Ive completed chapter 1 & look forward to next development!
End.
The rest of this review is just proof that stuff happened and other stuff solved the previous stuff making stuff less stuffed in the long haul, and basically isnt needed to solve a purchase dilemma, ok?
OLD REVIEW (+extraneous info)
just to be clear iam not outright saying dont get this, if fact id definitely say add to wishlist, chances are it works with your controllers?? it shows a great deal of promise & devs seem keen to help, currently there are no guides ect & it is still early access, needs afew additions.

1. about 3 differant tutorials where speaking at the same time at the start?? (tutorial speech is fine now) i missed the part where i got a sword, instead spending my time beating the shit out of a skeleton who i assume now has permanent concussion!

The potential this game has is amazing. For it being early access, it is amazing. Other games should take a lesson from these developers. With the stunning graphics, and a great price anyone who enjoys swordplay VR games would be a fool to not pick up this title. Is it as polished as Grimlord? Not even close. Is it wonkey and a bit hard to play at the moment? Absolutely. Does it measure up to any swordplay VR game on the market today? No. That being said, I believe this dev team will deliver a wonderful, immersive, and flowing game.

God Within VR is a great VR game. Despite being in development and having a few bug, the game's potential is outstanding, as it is much like Battle Talent with more story-based content. With a unique (but unfinished as far as I know) storyline that kept me hooked for the time I have been playing it, combined with good UI design, it's impossible to overlook the (SOLO!!) developer's time and effort that they put into this.
If you like Battle Talent or Dark Souls, then this game is for you. 9.5/10, highly recommend.

Can this game compete with the likes of Blade & Sorcery, Grimlord, Legendary Tales, or Hellsplit Arena? Lol, of course not. If you'r expecting that from a $9 USD ($7.19 USD release sale price) priced game, then you need to have your head examined. This is a budget-priced game for a reason. Expect jank, lots of it.
However, for the $7.19 USD I spent, I have been pleasantly surprised. This game kind of reminds me of the first attempts at a Souls-like for VR. The bones are there for a possibly very good game in the future. The developers are clearly talented and they have made a game that can be silly fun, if you're willing to deal with the jank. I would estimate though that this will take at least a year, likely 2 years, before it can be a smooth or polished experience. There is a lot of work to be done.
Will the devs put in the work? I don't know. I don't know them. However, what I can say with certainty, is that for the current price it's worth it, at least for me. I had fun. There's a nice world to explore. The combat is alright. The platforming is janky, but also thrilling. You have some real heights to contend with. There's even some VOs. Not the best story, but it's something. The physics is janky. The pathing is janky. Everything feels janky actually. The first boss fight is neat.
Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting mostly 72 fps. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs. The biggest thing is the inventory system is not very good. You have like a quick inventory system that is gesture based and it doesn't always work (although it always worked when assigned to up or down movements). You have full, smooth locomotion, along with smooth or snap turning. The walk speed is a little slow, but it's not the worst. You can play seated or standing. You have magnet hands, along with button crouch.

God Within: Personal Game Review
As an independently developed virtual reality game, "God Within" left a lasting impression on me.
Compact yet Rich Level Design: The game's level design, while not expansive, is remarkably intricate and diverse. Each level is packed with challenges and surprises, showcasing the developer's attention to detail and creativity.
Unique Combat Experience: Combat in the game employs a doll system, offering an unprecedented level of interactivity. Every action feels crucial, heightening the sense of real combat tension.
Anticipated Improvements: While the visual effects may not be the game's strongest suit, the compact yet rich level design more than compensates for it. I look forward to witnessing the developer's future improvements and advancements.
