It's fine and works, however it's directly competing with the original versions of battlefront 1 & 2 that are also on steam and $15 cheaper when put together. For the extra price you get upscaled textures, some DLC and BF1 maps in BF2, achievements, native controller support, and proper UI scaling so you can play in 4k. You also lose most of your ability to mod the game, though you can port map mods through a somewhat annoying manual process.
Overall I prefer this version, I like the achievements and compatibility with modern hardware (the original covers my second monitor with a white screen and only really likes 1080p). That being said I can see how some view this as a downgrade, especially if they are big on modding.

Rough launch, but the patches fixed it up. Good now.

IF THEY WERE COOL THEY WOULD HAVE ADDED NEW CHARACTERS AND MODES AND PORTED THESE GAMES TO A NEW ENGINE BUT KEEP OG CONTROLS AND ALLOW THEM TO BE TWEAKED.

Honestly, I'm glad they made this collection.
I know that there's a lot of controversy around the multiplayer and such, but as someone who is perfectly content playing against the AI, this takes me right back to my childhood.

MULTIPLAYER IS COMPLETELY DEAD I ASSUME DUE TO SHITTY LAUNCH. Do not purchase if even 1% of the reason for your purchase is to play multiplayer.
That being said.
I didn't play this at launch, so never experienced what was well-known to be disastrous. Likewise, I have no interest in playing multiplayer. I only wanted the singleplayer campaigns/galactic conquests modes. On my PC, the original games have aged very poorly. Constant crashing, resolution issues, etc. For me as of July 2025, this version of both games runs smoothly and gives me exactly what I wanted.
It is too expensive. If they ever drop the price and you're looking for the best version of the og battlefront singleplayer experiences, this is the best option, in my opinion.

got this game for pure nostalgia and if you are of my age and remember coming home from school and firing up the ps2 to play this beauty then you're in for a treat. great games only played single player as not interested in online play for this game.
F### the haters.

So, I really like this port. I don't play online, I just fight bots. I'm really not a very competitive person, so the new (2017) Battlefront doesn't appeal to me. It's just too intense - it's like a military sim. Whereas the two games in this collection are just so light-hearted, with a positively sci fi and imaginative bent to them.
Also - a small technical note - I just spent two hours installing the OG Battlefront 2 from 2007 to see if it's better with mods. One major caveat is that controller support is really difficult to get going. Rumble, in particular, is non-existent. The menu for that version is extremely ugly. There's a small online multiplayer community, though, and some of the mods are pretty phenomenal.
Coming back to this version - I do, in fact, appreciate all of the little details they got right.
There's split screen, a pretty menu, boomier sound, controller support & controller rumble...and some pretty high-def textures you might not notice upon first glance!
A proper remake is DEFINITELY in order because these games capture something the DICE games absolutely do not...but this will do for now :) thanks...I'm grateful to have this in 2025...

Rough launch with some bugs, but I am enjoying it for the most part. Just feels good to not have to resort to mods for the resolution for BF2. Nice to see everything fit my screen,

A lot of negative press about this game and general EA bullshitery has resulted in this game getting "overwhelmingly negative." I'm here to say this game deserves positive. Just positive, nothing more.
IN ITS CURRENT STATE, this game is relatively bug-free now.
Pros:
- Two of the best Star Wars games here, as-was, with no changes other than upscaling.
- Great resolution cutscenes featuring scenes from the movies.
- Tons of fun class options that make you feel like a part of the Star Wars battles.
- Fantastic story mode that leads you through all of the iconic locations of the movies.
Cons:
- As stated, this is the games as-was, no new bonus features aside from achievements. No concept art, no new modes, no extra content.
- The online? Great. Netplay is good now, the multiplayer is as fun as you remember. Problem? Nobody plays this game anymore.
- This is the games AS-WAS, as I've stated, and on hard mode, some stages are nearly-impossible to complete. I thought I suck but I'm pretty sure it's just busted AI. I checked, the PS2 versions also have this problem.
- Control setup? Weird as shit, but you can change it on your own. Annoying to do, though.
- The menus in this game have the most abysmal mouse sensitivity, and this is my biggest complaint as a non-online player. Seriously, what the hell?
