The UI takes some getting used to, the movement is pretty janky, and combat is barely passable, but man do I love this game regardless. The story is fun, the puzzles are decent, and the blend of point & click adventure with ARPG elements feels just great. I wish someone would do a remaster or remake of this game with improved UI and combat. Rating: ★★★★☆

This game is one of my all time favorites, it`s an important part of my childhood. I completed it back in the 90` without ANY walkthroughs. It took me years, spending countless hours of gameplay figuring everything out by myself, I remember vividly when I discovered the secret room in the castle, I was in a state of bliss for several days. Completing this game is by far my major gaming achievement, kids today would never invest that much time and energy in a game anymore.

PROS: Cool idea executed in this game. It is point and click if you're into that. This is a good old school game that's in my top 10. Glad it finally made it to Steam. CONS: One, intro is taking too long. There used to be a way to speed this up and get right to the menu. Two, not sure Steam has worked out all the bugs yet. Still haVing issues. Three, the hedge maze has always been a nightmare.

One of the best damn vampire games ever. Yes, this game has a serious vampire in it. Not no weak sauce early-20s-punk style, or mellow-dramatic vampire that we get so often. To this day, this game still features one of the most daunting vampire stories out there. Let's make one thing clear though. This game has a hedge maze at one point, and it SUCKS. It really puts a damper on the game. I love this game to death, and yet I will quickly admit the hedge maze is freaking awful. Be warned. I just completed the game here on Steam. It's been about 10 years since I played it. The hedge maze didn't even play music. I am not sure if the game actually lacks music for that part, or if it's just a dosbox / game setting thing. Once the hedge maze is done though, the rest of the game is fine. If you're going to play this, I assure you that's the worst part. The rest of the game is worth it though. And the ending is just ... you don't get many endings as well set up and satisfying as that. Be prepared to pay attention to the dialog. You have to read closely and type in words you picked up from conversations. The game will not highlight every keyword and provide all the keywords on a silver platter for you. That's intentional, like it or not. You have to use your eyeballs and your brain and work clues out manually in your head. That's how games were back in the 90s. It's not hard, you just need to realize that you gotta do it. Again, it's intentional, just embrace it. Enjoy piecing things together yourself for once. Games nowadays won't even give you the chance to work puzzles out on your own, even if you wanted to.

Here's a great one from a time when games were different because devs were still figuring out how to design systems. Movement is clunky, so is equipping items. The game does not hold your hand. There is no quest log. You have to type keywords you learn using contextual clues to prompt dialog and obtain certain items. This game is weird, and it's difficult, and it's got some very cool ideas in it you just don't see in modern gaming. I love it.
