Nothing innovative in this chapter. the soundtracks are the same in all Hike, it would be nice to change them every now and then, right? It has no end, the "game" lasts 20 minutes. Exaggerated the price, it should be free. 5/10. A categorical no.

Alright. **Serene Hike** is done and dusted. This is in the 'needle in a haystack' variety of the Hike walking simulator series games. I'm actually a little surprised I finished this one.

In the previous entries of the series using this format, there were cheevos for each location which kind of served as a roadmap. In this one, there is only the single cheevo for opening the game, so you're left guessing as to when you've completed everything. You basically just test out your completion status by going back to the beginning area. If it blocks you and doesn't go to the 'thanks for playing' message, you still have stuff left to find, lol.
This is mediated however by having a far more consolidated map than the previous entries using this format, and so it never reaches the point of tedium or frustration, and most of the locations themselves use key assets from the more recent games in the series, offering a nice little homage to the previous games. And, if I'm not mistaken, the giant pine cone was a new asset addition.

It still frustratingly uses the same two music tracks on loop, but everything can't be perfect, lol.
**Serene Hike** did of course function perfectly on the *Steam Deck* as the majority of *Hike* series titles have. For around a buck and a half hour or so of your life, this game offers a pleasant little escape. Give it a go.
I believe I have one game left to play in the series as of the time of this writing. I'll buy it during the '23 Autumn Sale most likely. If you've made it through my *Hike* walking simulator series reviews, it's appreciated. Cheers.

pros: chill game where you walk around a forest and find several 'landmarks' on a list. the monument took me ages to find but the rest i stumbled upon, although its very easy to get 'lost'. took less than 30 mins to complete, so not bad for a cheap game!
cons: most graphics were 3d, but a few random 2d elements with thick black lines which seemed a bit out of place e.g. pine cone, some mushrooms etc. and a shame there arent any more achievements than the one you get from simply opening the game...

I usually like the walking simulators, however what is the reason for this game? Walking around in circles. Don't know where to go or what to do. I expected more of a newer game in this series.
