Horrible story, lame, a lot of meaningless cutscenes, and anticlimatic ending

This game was very fun. I bought every game in the far cry series and this one was in my top 3 (along with far cry 4 and 3). The story was very engaging, i enjoyed looking for the armor and weapons, i really liked the antagonist, and the gunplay felt very good. I was at first sad that skills were removed, and it sucks that you cant have multiple "bonuses" at once, but overall i really enjoyed this game. I did feel like sometimes i was way too strong for where i was in the game, and i also would occasionally die to something frustrating like fall damage because my wingsuit didnt work, or I would alert an outpost because instead of a takedown it just did a normal melee attack. Overall, i would totally reccomend this game to anyone wanting to play.

Combat is fun and does a great job of keeping you engaged. The freedom to do what ever you want and hop back into story missions was smooth. The villans could be improved upon. Beautiful game none the less.

Honestly i think this game is overhated. That might just because I loved Far Cry 5, which this is very similar to. The story goes along nicely and the vibe on the island is cool.

AI is stupid, open world is empty, checkpoints are badly placed and the game itself is litereally a Far Cry 3 2.0

the hate is forced by the community, the acting by the main antagonist is phenomenal, the gameplay is smooth and keeps the same element from older far cry games, now dont get me wrong, the game still has it's flows, but nonetheless the game is still good and the story is peak. (i recommend this game)

Decent gameplay and very fun gameplay loop. The story is okay. The characters design and dialog are beyond awful. The "good guy" side talks and behaves like the actual clown and does not fit well with the serious tone of the story at all. The regime is brutal and competent, and they need equally competent enemies. The guerrillas are not it; they are more like a circus than freedom fighters.

What a strange predicament this game finds itself in. On release it's just Ubislop with a famous actor tie-in plagued with microtransactions and everything you've come to expect from a Far Cry game. An initial $60 price tag shortly after the $10 price hike became the norm for "AAA" games in 2020. Should you buy this at $60? Absolutely not. Is there a $60 game's worth of work that went into this? Yeah I think so. Which brings us to where we are at now, a whopping $10 when on sale at the time of writing this, and when I feel decent-minded people are actually buying this. Obviously there's meddling that goes on during the development of these things, because it's a competent game mechanically, by feel, and was enjoyable start to finish, but isn't necessarily presented as such.
The game's value may be $60, but is it worth $60? How do you get by without pandering or being backed by a company worth nearly a billion dollars? The answer is "just make a good game," but today, in the dynamic of AAA games funded by a publisher, a good game (in this context) is oft unheard of. Oh and the game is OK.

Level design, as usual, is top notch. I felt like I could tackle every scenario any way I wanted.
The environments were really interesting, there were a lot of really fun ideas they explored.
I actually like the armor/gear system as rewards for the collectathons, I felt like that was a good addition.
The Bad
If too big was a game, it'd be Far Cry 6. Too much open land, too many collectathon gimicks, too many everything, and this is from somebody who 100%ed Far Cry 3 and 5. Loved those games. This game feels insurmountable. I'm 20 hours in and I'm barely half-way through. And it's not like the game adds more mechanics as you go on, it's the same game from hour 1 as hour 20. Same mechanics, same enemy variants, same everything. Not only that but the map is just MASSIVE. Like, truly gargantuan. Which would be fine if it was diverse.
In Far Cry 5, the enemies were rarely more than one-shot kills, to make up for this they threw waves and waves of guys at you and made their bullets hurt. In Far Cry 6 enemies are a MUCH tankier and so they throw fewer enemies at you. The upside? I can't really find one. Enemies are more bullet spongey and there's less of them. It's less climatic, cinematic, and the battles go from clearing out bases just stuffed with enemies to killing a few dudes and not much else. Also the Enemy AI feels WORSE than 5 (I think this is because they tried to make them more tactical, but the AI sucks, so they just hide from you more so than do tactical maneuvers).
The cutscenes with the main villains are short, and frustratingly infrequent. The side villains barely get any plot, and when they do it's entertaining, but ultimately means little when you get a cutscene every 2-4 hours of play. The villain climaxes (at least the one's I got to in my TWENTY HOURS OF PLAY TIME) were lackluster compared to the previous games as well.
The Ugly
And the Spanish is inauthentic. I mean, the accents are all over the place, and they don't even sound like Carribean-Spanish when the talk. I expected more from the company that literally INVENTED TWO NEW LANGUAGES for Far Cry Primal.
The crafting system is out of hand. Why the hell is there a crafting system at all. What are we doing here. This is so dumb. The one is Far Cry 3? It encouraged you to complete side tasks and in return you got helpful perks (extra ammo capacity for specific firearm types, extra inventory slots, etc). In Far Cry 6 it's for some of the most insignificant crap/upgrades for your weapons which mean NOTHING when you get handed a bunch of exotic one-of-a-kind weapons right out the gate that out perform anything you could make otherwise. AND EVEN THEN, YOU RARELY HAVE ALL THE MATERIALS YOU NEED.
Finally, a lot of the characters you meet are just... lame? Like, a team of "free speech rappers" who are not very good and are pretty dang useless that you have to prop up because of the plot. A character who's hard af because they "had top surgery without painkillers," wtf??? A family who have beef with Castillo's nephew and so are like all spec-ops ninjas for some reason? "What makes them different? They're angry because they're oppressed" NEWS FLASH BUDDY, EVERYBODY IS ANGRY THEY'RE OPPRESSED.
The Conclusion
They dropped the ball. I gave it 20 hours of play time before I called it. I really tried. If I was terminally unemployed I *might* have finished it just so I can say I completed all the games, but that'd be the only reason.
Don't buy it, even on sale. The fun-to-time-spent ratio is just too off. Personally, I wouldn't even recommend it free, you'd just be sending hours of your life down the drain for so little gain. If you really want to see Giancarlo Esposito do his thing (like I did), find a cutscene movie on YouTube. He does a really good job as the villain but appears once every 3-5 hours of play.
