I like Mirthwood. I have only played two hours so far but am certainly planning on playing more. I have gone to a far area many times, but then I realized that I was supposed to go to a way closer area, which has resulted in death for me, but it does highlight the spot on the map for you! Also I enjoy the morality system in the game and plan to get it in the deepest negatives I can. I hope I didn't spoil anything, as I'm trying to write this without spoiling too many things. It's also being worked on commonly, so if you have an issue with anything, like a bug that you really don't like, it will most likely be fixed.
General opinion
The Game is a bit rough around the edges, very atmospheric, seasons are beautifull, gemplay mechanics a bit clunky and can anoy at times, but will recomend, the game has what you would call "love put into it", still jar needs more filling to be complete ^^
Game Performance and Economy/Progression

Performance
Mirthwood can run on lower frames quite often, the "Home plot" after 3 seasons can be tanky after you build up your plot. Beside that exploration does not suffer from performance issues beside occasional stutter while autosaving.
Economy/Progression
Economy, game is quite rough on the aspect of hunger managment at the start, you need ton of food to keep going, its not that hard after you start hunting and harvesting your crops but beggining is quite rough, mid game when you want to expand your plots invest into farming animals start as a hard punch in the guts, farm animals are expensive, same as buildings requierd if you want to make it fancy. Overall seems a bit overpriced for what you get, but it does look nice
What i would like to see changed/implemented
Game has good crafting system that can seek materials in chests nearby, (by nearby i mean like 5-6 feet distance) Would be nice if system worked on a bigger scale for example chaining storage "connections" so that you could make more aesthetically pleasing crafting areas. Good idea would also be showing either lines connecting crafting stations when placing storage or showing area of influence while placing the chests potentialy highlithing crafting stations that will feed from the storage.
One thing that bothered me is toiling the soil, what i did not like it is that the whole process is finnicky, example after season change your plants that have miltiple harvests (peas/grapes/corn) do die in diffrent intervals, what happens is that dead bush stays if you do not cut it in time the toiled soil underneath disapears forcing you to either cut dead bush when it apears (for example 3 plots died in 12 plot field) and quickly plant another thing so that you wont need to toil the soil again, if you let it stay to long you may find yourself in place that i was, somehow you wont be able to toil it again in the same spot forcing you to change plot configuration again, i do endjoy snug fit and cosy clutered aesthetic so yea xD had to fight it alot because of it :)
Last thing: the fishing quest at the coastline, for the last part "catch a lobster" i thing wise idea would be to change the quest test to "catch a lobster using a wooden basket" since mechanic was changed :) i fished out like 12 pearls after i found out you cannot catch it with a fishing pole xD

art style is lovely. Shame I can't read 99 percent of the text without using the windows magnifier and thus missing most of what's going on. I'm on 120 percent ui scaling and at 1920x1080 so. shrug.

Great atmosphere and music but combat remains underwhelming and not very fun. Bow in particular still suffers as the devs have added a cross hairs but the cross hairs do not align with the curvature of the bow at all. It makes aiming needlessly frustrating and unreliable.
Though the devs are continuing to try and improve combat so I may have to change this later.

I spent around 2-3 hours with Mirthwood, but I struggled to find enjoyment due to a mix of frustrating mechanics and design choices.
The quest system is unclear, often leaving me wondering what I’m supposed to do next. The lack of proper guidance makes progression feel like guesswork rather than an engaging adventure. On top of that, the map is poorly designed—it doesn't clearly indicate where I am or where I should go, and the limited zoom in/out makes navigation even more frustrating.
Another major issue is the relentless hunger mechanic. The character gets hungry way too fast, forcing you to constantly carry food. Instead of adding to the immersion, it becomes an unnecessary chore that disrupts the flow of the game.
Lastly, the overall atmosphere is too bleak and depressing. While I appreciate darker tones in games, Mirthwood lacks balance, making it more of a dull and dreary experience than an engaging one.
With better quest guidance, a more useful map, and a less punishing survival system, this game could be enjoyable. But in its current state, it’s more frustrating than fun.

Unreadable. UI scaling or resolution change made no difference and changed nothing. I am simply unable to play this game. Very disappointing.

The art is lovely, but the game is incomplete. It would have been better to release as Early Access, at least then it could be said that the game would improve in time, currently it just isn't worth it.
