My partner and I have been waiting for this game for its co-op release... we are a bit disappointed so far. The local co-op only was a really poor choice when the controller support of this game isn't great. I'm going to have to take time remapping everything and see if it makes it a bit smoother... but I really have to say I'm just excited for the co-op to expand beyond local. When we can both use keyboard and mouse... without the controller user watching the mouse fly across the screen, it will be much much better. When the controller's A button to dodge and A button to interact doesn't make you extremely nervous toward the Sage that you're trying to dodge-pluck... it will be a lot better. I wish Steam had a "Not Yet" for the recommendations of a game.

I want to like this game, and it has a lot of things that *do* work, it's just that they don't come together well as an experience - combat feels janky, quests feel flat, and the world feels like it's only got a little bit of depth. At the same time, this isn't something I hate and I can see that the creators put a lot of effort in to get it to where it is. I don't want my money back or anything like that, but I do hope they can find a way to make future games gel the different parts together.

I really enjoy this game. Even more than Stardew Valley since I like the more realistic, medieval approach of it. Graphics are gorgeous and the developers are very active on Discord, listening to player feedback and wishes and are working hard on adding new content every few months. Sure, the game has some bugs here and there and is not as polished as other games - yet. Like I said, the developers, and if i remember correctly the development team only consists of 2! people, are constantley working on the game and I am more than sure that this game will become even better in the foreseeable future. If you are looking for a game that has the right amount of relaxing gameplay and challenges (regarding combat and managing resources and money) with awesome graphics and a feeling of being at home - then look no further!

What sucks is this games hits so many boxes for me and seems like i could poor hundreds of hours into, only problem is it crashes every 15min of play time, my pc way exceeds the requirements, i run much higher quality games with hundreds of mods with no issues. i have requested a refund, hopefully this game can be saved cause it does hit a lot of right notes

Solid game, just needs quite a bit more polish before it leaves early access. Early game is quite awkward in terms of progression, but overall fun. It's like an RPG enjoyer's version of that other famous farm game. EDIT: It's been fully released... yeah nah needs more work. Now that co-op and family is implemented they can iron out the bugs.

Adding to the general consensus: I would have loved this game if it had been playable. But graphics, bugs, and poor controller support all combined led me to refund. I gave it 90 minutes and multiple reboots, but I couldn't even chop wood or plant seeds because suddenly all my conversations, no matter who I approached, were with the blacksmith. Really hope the developers get their act together and produce a completed product. This could be an addictive one.

It's a good mix of genres while not really being great in any of them. Combat needs tightening, balancing, and pacing but it works. It would infinitely be more fun if tools and buildings didn't need "tool kits" or "blueprints." Like it makes sense I guess, but it just isn't fun to deal with grinding for money. I would rather be able to build stuff requiring more materials or help from villagers to feel accomplished, than the only bottleneck for my buildings is a 4000 gold price tag, Other than that, the games art is nice, the world design is nice, the progression/skills are fun. It has a charm that's really only explainable by playing it. So get it on sale if possible but get ready to deal with a few quirks along the way. An ad I saw about the game read "It's Fable meets Stardew Valley," and in a sense, that is pretty true in spirit, but it still has a path to carve its own considering it isn't early access.

Want to like this game. Local co-op drew me in. Seems like a dark Stardew Valley. Initially wife and I were excited to try it. Spent two hours just figuring out that the controller bug was limited strictly to the tutorial. Make that make sense. There are numerous unresolved bugs, controller support is poor at best, local co-op is a mess. The game seems like it's in early access. Which if it was flagged as EA, I would've waited to purchase. But this isn't early access. They release in this near unplayable state. I really do hope they fix the numerous issues, and if they do we will come back because it's so close, just needs A LOT of polish still.

Trees trees everywhere and not a stick to craft... no visual cues to help figure out which tree are choppable and which are just scenery (spoiler alert: 90% are scenerey) Feels like early access - incomplete, janky, and unpolished. I think this is overpriced, but I pushed through and got a few days of enjoyment, I just wont likely be returning to this game every year or two like Stardew..

It is with a heavy heart that I, too, give Mirthwood a bad review. Why would I do this, when it supposedly represents so much of what I'd like a game to be - Dark Souls Stardew Valley? Two reasons. First, every mechanic is skin deep. Socializing, farming, crafting, and fighting are all very shallow mechanics. Second, it's janky. During the tutorial, I clipped out of the playable area and had to restart the game. I just spent my last 45 minutes trying to turn in a quest (no marker, of course) to a peasant that refused to spawn on the map. I don't recommend the game in its current state. With more time and polish, I could see things improving.
