Breathless Winds - LGBT Visual Novel Reviews

this game is SO lovely and special and really really beautiful and heartfelt and everyone should play it!!

A Fairly Solid VN. But I do have a couple overlying critiques that underlines the novel. For one, the dialogue. With the exception of a few characters, most of the characters seem to speak with the same voice, as though it were the same person improvising multiple parts. In essence, the dialogue feels non-specific. This sort of non-specificity extends to the way in which this is scored. The musical cues may reuse particular tracks, but it never really visits specific musical phrases and ideas, not even when it would make the most sense to do so. It lacks any strong motifs, aside from a snippet you usually only ever hear for snippets so short that you almost never hear the full peice anyways. Even if I would still get the soundtrack if the opportunity came known, It still comes across as poorly bound to the world.

This game is fantastically written. Heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once, evoking common, real world trans issues cleverly and dealing with them in a manner that shows great empathy. I write this having just completed Rue's route, and will certainly be doing the other three. I believe that more people should play this game, be they trans or not. My only complaints are minor, mainly that I noticed a good few typos, especially as I neared the end of the route.
