Chase Survivors is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game where a group of survivors must complete objectives while being hunted by a single, powerful killer. It's a formula familiar to fans of games like Dead by Daylight, but Chase Survivors attempts to differentiate itself with unique mechanics and a focus on environmental interaction. However, it falls short of its potential due to several issues. The core gameplay loop involves survivors working together to repair generators (or similar objectives) scattered around the map while avoiding the killer. The killer, on the other hand, must hunt down and eliminate the survivors before they can escape. This creates a tense cat-and-mouse dynamic that can be exciting in the right circumstances. Chase Survivors attempts to add a unique twist with its focus on environmental interactions. Survivors can use the environment to their advantage, such as hiding in lockers, vaulting over obstacles, and using items to stun or distract the killer. However, these interactions often feel clunky and unresponsive, hindering the gameplay experience. One of the biggest problems with Chase Survivors is its balance. Killers often feel overpowered, making it difficult for survivors to escape, especially for less experienced players. This can lead to frustrating matches where survivors feel like they have little chance of winning. The game also suffers from a lack of polish. The graphics are dated, the animations are stiff, and there are numerous bugs and glitches that can disrupt the gameplay. The maps are also often poorly designed, with confusing layouts and limited hiding spots. **Pros:** * Asymmetrical multiplayer horror can be tense and exciting! 😱 * Focus on environmental interaction is an interesting idea! 🤔 * Potential for teamwork and strategic gameplay! 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 **Cons:** * Balance issues make it difficult for survivors! 😭 * Clunky and unresponsive controls and environmental interactions! 🎮 * Dated graphics and stiff animations! 👾 * Numerous bugs and glitches! 🐛 * Poorly designed maps! 🗺️ **Verdict:** 4/10. Chase Survivors has some interesting ideas, but it's ultimately held back by its poor balance, clunky gameplay, and lack of polish. The core gameplay loop can be fun in short bursts, but the numerous issues make it a frustrating and often unfair experience. It needs significant improvements in balance, gameplay mechanics, and technical polish to be a truly enjoyable asymmetrical horror game. 😔 *** **Disclaimer:** These reviews are based on my personal experience and opinions. It's actually not even good. I do like aspects of this game. The presentation is kinda retro feel and it doesn't need a crummy CRT filter to do it, so they score at least a few points there. There isn't a moment of tedium - the enemies press fast and it keeps you moving which keeps you engaged. It follows a predictable formula of random upgrade options as you gather XP motes and use them for random Powers, and you gain permanent currency in Coins to spend after rounds for Stat boosts like Regen, Power, Armor, Cooldown, Etc. RNG causes various "main" weapons to spawn and you can carry 1. Unfortunately the entirety of the game is discovered in a few minutes, then the realization sets in that outside of dodging and RNG there really isn't much going on. Big issue is that you can only run. So it limits you to basically running, picking up whatever guns spawn, hoping it's good, lasting as long as you can, spending your coins for an upgrade (you need to grind minimum 3-4 rounds per upgrade minimum) and then doing that forever. There's nothing else. Some of the guns are just laughable. They don't even have names or labels or anything so I'm just going to say the "green one that does triple-pop-gun-shot" is laughable. It shoots 3 peas a second and 21 things spawn per second. Or you IDK just get the Raiden Laz0r and then you're a killing machine. So you feel the unfairness at all times. Like, blow the 0.77 CAD that I did and are you out that much? Not really. But even at that Sale price I paid it's not worth it. I'm going to "beat" the game now because I got fooled into playing this long and I figure I can blast though for another 30 minutes. It's not good, really. There are good aspects but what actually counts is gameplay and it's paper-thin in that area. edit: I played more but nope. This game isn't fun and I refuse to play anymore.

I got it on sale for $0.59 so I cant complain too much. Very bare bones and basic but has a lot of potential if the dev wanted to add some more polish. The soundtrack is good and I had some reasonable fun for a bit. The maps are tiny and the grind is a bit much for the skills for how little is in the game. I recommend for those who play every survivors-like they can get their hands on (like myself) especially for the low price.
