Fatal Frame Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is a Great horror game that I can't recommend enough. The story is full of mystery and suspense, and the graphics are incredibly detailed and atmospheric. You play as one of three protagonists, each with their own unique abilities, as you explore the Haunted and dangerous environments of a cursed Japanese village. The game has good haunting sound effects, as well as disturbing monster designs. The Combat is intense Especially on Nightmare difficulty and requires strategy, as you must use your Camera Obscura to capture the souls of the spirits that lurk in the shadows. The puzzles are also challenging, but rewarding when solved. Overall, Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is an Awesome horror experience that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a good scare. Definitely one of the best in the series. 9/10 I need the Fatal Frame Trilogy Please TOEI TECMO

As someone who played the original on the Wii over a decade ago, this remaster is perfect. My only critique is that the map textures are still the original Wii textures. Other than that Im glad this remaster even exists at all. All character and ghost models are remade and some pre-rendered FMVs were also redone with some of the original Wii FMVs mixed in (for those you wont be able to tell if you never played the original anyway). As for the PC port itself, I had no issues with it. I did had to reboot the game once because I couldn't interact with anything during a long play session (not the end of the world).
Like with Maiden of Black Water, the Nintendo outfits were removed and replaced with new ones to make up for their absence. All outfits from the original (except the Nintendo ones as I mentioned before) are all here. This is still the same exact game I played on the Wii from over a decade ago with a new fresh coat of paint. No motion controls obviously and I prefer these games with a controller anyway.
So the most important question you might be asking, do you need to play the other games to play this? No! This game can be played without any knowledge of the others. It is the fourth game in the series but you don't need to play the others. In fact, I highly recommend this to newcomers of the series the most because it has no connections to previous games. It is also my favorite in the series so far as someone who played all of them.

I've been a huge fan of Fatal Frame for years. I absolutely LOVED Fatal Frame 1 to 3. Or Project Zero as they were called in Europe. I'm glad to finally be able to play this after they finally released it worldwide far too many years after it originally came out.
Mask of the Lunar Eclipse stays true to the series, but I don't feel like it adds much new. To some people that may be an issue, but personally I don't feel like it need to. The story is good, especially if you like collecting files and lore as you explore. The soundtrack in some of the places are SUPER creepy and I love it.
One issue I have it's the janky controls, but then again this was pretty normal for the time it was released. It's the same janky way of moving around as the older Silent Hill games and many others in similar genres. It gets sort of annoying at times, and to me it will affect the replay value of the game. The game has good incentives for replayability thanks to collectables and new game + stuff, but to me those controls are exhausting. Still though, the game is really good, the visuals are detailed although a little grainy, and there are tons of ghosts. I never get tired of that heart pumping sound when a specter shows up!
Another point of note is that the areas are kind of repetitive. There's not much variation in terms of where you'll be able to explore. It's a lot of backtracking/back and forth in the same spaces, so don't worry about ever getting lost. You'll be intimately familiar with the areas very soon, because there's not that many of them. I feel like The Lost Village and the Manor of Sleep from Fatal Frame 2 & 3 were much larger.
As long as you can look past the controls and a little repetitive exploration you will definitely enjoy this game.
I'd rate it a 7.5/10

This is one of the few horror game series I havent tried and played. I also have have tried the last year to finish atleast one horror game a year, and i can scratch that off the list this year.
Is this game worth playing yes. Yes, I think it is. Its quiet good. The main characters I found more then allright, they are quiet good. I like the mulitple characters you can play as an it makes this intersting. The concept is also quiet good with ghosts and flashlights etc.
The story is quiet good. It will keep you on your toes to find out what happens next. It even has some good twist.
The atmosphere and settings is also top notch. I like that this game mostly takes place in one place without outstaying it welcome. I like that you can upgrade your flashlights. I like that there are some collectibles to get if you want to. It quiet creepy at times, quiet eerie. And it also has some decent scares. Yes, there are some jump scares, but they arent to many of the and most of them is just a small jump scares. So I am fine with that. I prefer more horror that isnt because of the jump scares and this game does that quiet well. Its just quiet scary.
With that said I think the autosave could be a little better. I also feel the sprint could have done with a little more speed. There is also times where you feel you hit a target, but you dont.
Either way you want a good horror game, with good characters and story. I also like that is most often then not quiet easy to figure out were to go. The sound design is also quiet good and adds to the experience. Recommended. And that ending is also quiet good.
