Clan of Champions is a fun popcorn brawler that keeps you in the action. The combat is fast paced, responsive, and challenging. Controllers are fully supported, and you can rebind all buttons from the settings menu in the launcher. The combat is intuitive and easy to learn, but mastering it takes practice. Primary attacks are high, medium, low, and guard break. Special attacks use stamina, and you can equip four at a time. Defence is a block, parry, and dodge system. Stats are strength, vitality, speed, and stamina. Character development is mostly handled through equipment upgrading, and special moves gain experience that can be used to level them. The equipment upgrade system is needlessly complicated. Fortunately min maxing is only necessary for the highest difficulty, so you can avoid most of the equipment grind. The game has four difficulties and thirty levels. Once unlocked any level can be replayed at any difficulty. Level design and enemy variety are repetitive, but are mixed up enough to keep combat enjoyable. The DLC is not necessary, and you can get the complete game experience with the base game alone. Online functions still work as of 2025, and playing online with friends is possible. Clan of Champions is a hidden gem that will entertain you for at least 20 hours.

Having grown up with Gladiator Begins on the PSP, this game hit a specific spot for me. In some ways I actually prefer this over Gladiator Begins but they are both great in their own ways. I mean this game is two dollars, for that price I'd say its a steal considering there are four difficulties, online co-op, 3 races, magic abilities, melee abilities, combining weapons... for two bucks you get a lot of game. When played in single player, two Ai opponents help you out, I find they actually aren't brain dead either they are helpful
