There is a lot packed into this little gem of a game. I'm terrible at stealth but I wanted to see what the Mansion and the surrounding grounds looked like as well as supporting a small developer.
I was not disappointed. Fun game if you just go all in and run and hide and take chances. You especially want to barge ahead in the beginning as you will learn quite a bit about the game mechanics. I got one automatic save at a good spot and then learned how to make my own until certain circumstances.
This game gives me the Karen Black, Trilogy of Terror vibes for those older players like me to relate to.

This is a solid game, found this randomly due to the sale and im honestly surprised how well thought out a lot of this is, sure its no perfection but its better than a lot of similar games ive played and considering the asked price this is more than fair.

Got this game when it was on sale for 39p and totally worth it! I'd say even full price at £3.99 is worth it. Was a great game to stream with an immediate jumpscare when getting caught in my first locker. Would recommend for a quick game which can be played by running around like a headless chicken or super sneaky! <3

Quite solid, seems very generic on the surface, but sometimes looks deceive. I have rarely seen this asset pack being used, so it was fresh breath of air. Theres a lot of space here, its a large map that allows for free roaming. The normal difficulty shows you where key items are, which is a nice feature. Higher difficulties remove that. You have limited saves and ammo, spend them wisely.

I'm giving it a positive for the effort, as this is a solo dev project and the love and effort are noticeable.
The game has a simple premise: you're stuck inside a mansion with hillbilly cannibals, and you need to escape. Of course there are a lot of locked doors, with keys that need to be found and dressers that serve as hiding place.
It's a simple game, ok for what it is.

Man I really hate these type of horror games which are all about enemies chasing you around forcing you to stealth (especially when you can't fight back, it's the worst trope in video game history). But this one actually seemed decent (especially for the price) although I still didn't finish it because I simply cant stand stealth in horror games lol.

The game is not easy, but intense with many jump scare moments for me. The music and creepy sounds combined with spooky scene create very atmospheric, dark gameplay. Perfect for coming autum/fall evenings however I'm not sure if I'm brave enought to play it by myself in the dark ;-) Once you know the patterns and reliable hiding spots it's easier to survive, however I'm still woriking on it :-P

It has been a long time since I wrote my latest review. I'm breaking my long silence because I feel this game deserves much more attention than it is getting. Shadelight is a prominent example of what a talented and passionate dev can obtain with the Unity engine and a bunch of purchased assets. Formally, this game is a classic escape survival horror: scavenge for resources, solve puzzles, avoid monsters, escape. A pretty old formula, isn't it? Well, yes, but I think this game shows its own character, its own style you may say. First, the environment is much larger and much less claustrophobic than usual, there is a lot to explore, even multiple locations to visit, each with its own threats of course. Second, I appreciated the presence of multiple monsters, that all present the same behaviour, but come with different models and above all different moving speed, thus requiring different strategies to be avoided. Speaking of monsters, their AI is very tough, very well designed: they can hear you if you open doors or step on creaking floor boards, they can find you if they see you hide in a locker, and above all they can see you through the fissures of said lockers, if you forget to crouch! Nevertheless, their behaviour is always fair, when you die, you always know WHY you died, so that next time you can do better. Also, you have the possibility to save whenever you want by consuming a certain item, so the mutiple deaths never become frustrating. Finally, what I appreciated the most are the multiple ways at your disposal to deceive the monsters: besides hiding in the lockers, you can crouch in the bushes, you can inject adrenaline shots into your body to get powerful speed bursts, and you can even stun the enemies for a few seconds with a very fun taser gun, which is pretty difficult to find, but gives you an enormous advantage! Furthermore, the dev is very active on the game, constantly adding new content. The only thing I really don't like is the lack of a true plot. Who are we? Why are we here? Who are the monsters? Where do they come from? I would have liked more background, maybe in the form of notes scattered across the large map.
Overall, I think Shadelight is a very well crafted survival horror, challenging but fair. It requires a bit of patience, but it can reward you with a fun and thrilling experience.
Cheers guys!
EDIT: in their latest patch, the dev added a spine-chilling background story that can be learnt through notes scattered across the map. This ENORMOUSLY increases the gloomy atmosphere of the game. Even more recommended now! It is always a pleasure to meet devs that care about their games and listen to the suggestions of their customers!

So the game starts with you as the player upstairs, and you fall through the floor to pick up a key. Then you are followed until you hide or die. There is no map. Exploration to find a way out of house to forest. That's about it. I'm not sure why a developer would release a demo of this type. Feels unfinished and really empty. I'd say its either a first time game maker or someone cashing in on the Halloween season. Either way, there really isn't a game here. If I could fight the monsters, OK.. then maybe it would be more fun. But as is, I'd recommend players go buy glue and put it on your fingers to peel off, that might be more fun than this game.
