For $8 USD, or even less when on sale, this excellent port of a Toaplan classic is a no brainer must buy. This is definitely an old school arcade shmup, full of that classic 90s anime aesthetic and of-the-era rough english translation. Good luck trying to read the endings though, as the text hilariously scrolls way too fast.
But as a 90s arcade game though, the difficulty may throw you off at first like it did for me. Thankfully the port offers save states and rewind. If you have a rotating monitor, the game also supports tate mode. The view is much bigger and better on a vertical monitor with the CRT filter applied.

The port quality seems pretty good, and I can easily access save states with the F keys for practice. Batsugun itself is a very fun game. It's fairly short, pretty hectic, and not too tough once you get the hang of it.

The great grandfather to the DonPachi series. This game oozes cool of the time. A must play if you like the genre.

So long that I forgot the pain. This is the one that fiddles your balls for the first 2 levels before halfway thru lvl3 when it slaps on the concrete & sandpaper condom to remind you of just what a dildo of a game it is, and i promise it reminds you who that strapon belongs to. 10/10, quite truly one of the best games ever (despite my previous statements - this isn't a joke). Batsugun is relentless in how it draws you back for one more try. Insane how far shit has fallen off the rails in this stupid industry.
