Plays well on Steamdeck A very fun game

This is my all time fave arcade game, spent alot of coins as a kid on this one, so good to see this one get a release as was always fairly rare to come across it in the wild, great emualtion from bitwave, biggest thumbs up possible for this game and the new qol features added in this release. could we get some platformers too? snow bros would be great!

I'll just take the Genesis port with the cool arrange mode. This one is not well-emulated, features are not well-coded. You know the drill. Every port is always rushed.

Very old, basic and primitive shmup that is surprisingly good and that is part of the charm. A product of the era that is still fun to play and quite unique in their mechanics, visual and sounds. It is a vertical game with gradius upgrade system. It is a classic shmup that needs heavy memorization of enemy placement and wich weapon to have in each particular area. The bullet patterns are basic , but fun with few , but fast bullets aimed to you. the game has a weapon power weapon system similiar to gradius. The game suffers from gradius syndrome but fortunaly we have a rewind button (that thrust me you will use a lot). The game has usual the quality of the ports of biwtwaves . If we strip to the basics is almost m2 quality with slightly worst sound emulation (that is not bad, but not perfect). We have modern options that are very convieninet like save states, rewind button and size of hitbox. Unfortunaly the original game could have better bullet visibility, as the bullets are small and white and don´t contrast well with the background. The port could benefit from a option to change bullet color, but considering the relation quality/price of this game, specially if you buy in a pack with other toaplan games is more than accepatble.Just be warne that the dificulty is high even for a shmup, as this games were made to steal quarters

Perhaps the most irrelevant game title ever, because you don't get to slap anything in the game besides maybe yourself in frustration. If you mixed Gradius & Xevious this would probably be the result

It is another unfair arcade vertical shooter. It has a relatively complex upgrade system which isn't clear, and is not explained in game. Basically you collect stars, and the exchange stars for the most expensive upgrade you can afford. If you didn't spend your stars they loop back to one with no refunds. Your starting speed is extremely bad, it's basically unsurvivable. And if you can evade in the beginning of the game while you are upgrading your speed, when you die on the advanced bullet hell stages and the game resets you to the lowest speed, you can do nothing. Other upgrades you can purchase are an ability to shoot sideways, increased firepower, temporary shield, and different guns. Unlike most of the games in the genre your main gun has very limited range. Bombs supposedly have better damage, but their range is also lacking. Lasers have good range but absolutely terrible DPS. Only the seeker rockets are a good choice. "Wings" upgrade increases your firepower. But while the effect is obvious with half the weapons, bombs and missiles don't look that different. First upgrades are applied directly to the ship. But the last two add chunks to the sides, which have individual hitboxes (per tier) and make you very wide. You can try to avoid enemy fire during the mid-game, but at the endgame the screen is filled with bullets, so it's impossible to keep the side wings. This one is a great release. Even if it has crashed on me one time. You can become a sportsmen and train to beat this 15-minutes long unfair game created to steal coins on one life. You can insert infinite virtual coins and try to play with continues. You can use save-games between the levels. Or you can rewind. There are sufficient display options. There are no stupid baked-in envelopes for the render, and there’s screen rotation option, allowing you to properly play it on your 3//4 vertical screen.

its a classic .lovely presented and beileve it or not. reason i got a steam deck. well one of them. i lool forward to picking up many more of my favirote coin ops

It doesn't crash at all on release day. I'm very happy with the purchase! It has the usual Toaplan Bitwave features. Practice, Save States and the (broken) Replay feature. Much recommended!
