A good remake of the classic. Takes elements from the Original Oregon Trail, Oregon Trail II, Oregon Trail 3, and Oregon Trail 4.

Played for a while with zero issues, had an amazing time! Got the DLC and now it’s a glitchy mess, crashes often, and takes absolutely forever to load certain screens. Please fix the game devs, I really love it but crashing all the time is really making it hard to play

The hunting mechanic—feels far more restricted in this version. Players can no longer hunt whenever they wish, making it harder to rely on game for survival. Additionally, while fishing has been added, it’s oddly unavailable at every river and stream, making it less of a dependable food source than one might expect. Another frustrating limitation is the lack of ammo available for purchase at the beginning of the journey, which forces players to rely on scavenging rather than preparing in advance.
Character selection also feels unnecessarily restrictive. Players are forced to choose from predefined roles with little customization. If you want a young aspiring fisherman or carpenter, well, tough luck—he might have to be a priest instead. Additionally, the game’s approach to appearances feels out of place, as players may find the perfect stats but be stuck with a character who doesn’t match their envisioned ethnicity or hair color.

I only got Dysentery 9 times before dying to a sandstorm.
Plays just like it did in the 90s.

This game is nostalgia for me, I have been playing this game since I was a little girl in elementary school. I love how the games has advance from the little green and black screen. I can play this game all day long.

Gameloft's version of the Oregon Trail is a decent game, but it definitely is not my favorite version. The best way I can describe it is that it feels like something designed for middle schoolers to play during class without a teacher having to worry about getting a permission slip for something PG 13. It is lacking a lot of the brutality and emotional depth that the Oregon Trail was originally known for.
Plus there also just some outright questionable decisions. The social stats thing? Weird focus. Automatically using the spare parts after running out of one stack of tool kits instead of moving to the other? Just why? Some of the dialogue choices being unpredictable? No Ava, I did not tell your father where your wedding was so get back here and let me finish the quest line. Picking your starting party by random draw, without knowing stats, and without any family relation for why you should care about them? It is as boring as it sounds; I cannot care less about the individual characters and I hate it.
I still put 10 hours in to date, and plan to put some more, but this could have been so much more.
