Stopped playing it immediately when I realized you have to control the enemy units to hit yourself.
Don't want to code enemy ai? Just have the player do it themselves.

It's a cute little "dice builder". Lot's of fun little knobs to turn and tune.

It's more of a creature game than a dice game. The creature synergies can work well if you're lucky enough to get them.
A lot of chance and RNG elements in this game, as to be expected. That being said, it's easy to mitigate the effects of unfortunate outcomes by stacking the dice in your favor.
Creatures will basically die permanently and you can replace them, but it messes up the synergy that you've already been working on creating. If that happens, don't expect to beat the run.
It's worth checking out, I had fun with my time, though my excitement waned around the 7 hr mark.

What I like about the mechanics of this game is that there are a lot of different strategies you can apply as you build out your team, and since it is turn based, you have time to think about what you want to execute haha. Every run can be a unique experience, and there are many different ways you can win. This is predominantly what has made it possible for me to have as much play time as I have put in because I'm able to stay engaged from the novelty of every play through.
It's also an interesting feature that you can be strategic on how you choose to execute the opponent attack to leverage the strengths of your team's qualities.

A charming and fun pocket monster rogue-like. Dicefolk has a significantly lower barrier of entry in terms of difficulty compared to other rogue-likes and the progression system is satisfying and allows for a lot of replayability. If you're looking for a beginner rogue-like with cozy vibes, this is an excellent starting game.

Art is wonderful, gameplay is great, and I love that there is no impending/artificial urgency. The map encourages exploration, without penalizing backtracking which is super fun to play. The fusion of zelda art vibe meets pokemon meets roguelike deckbuilder (where cards are dice faces) _totally works_ and is something I am having a great time playing.
After a bit of time though, I realized something I think is missing to put this over the top - and it was that after playing for about an hour I hadn't heard a human voice. Or at least that's my impression (maybe there were some in there, but not memorable enough?). For a premise of defending humanity, I feel like that's the part that is missing - not enough human connection to draw you in. Some voice acting would go a long way here I think. Just a dozen or so lines of dialog, and a reminder once in a while would keep you invested.
But that's just good natured feedback from someone enjoying a great game that wants to see it and its creators succeed!

This game is pretty great. It captures a lot of the Slay the Spire fum without being a complete ripoff. The dice are random, of course, but there are lots of ways to mitigate the randomness so runs feel very fair (so far, anyway).
The one thing I wish I had was an undo button. Losing a run because you accidentally attacked into a sentient wall of spikes just feels bad. Other than that, everything is great.

Intereisting decks and combinations. Love the themathic and the fact that you control enemies turn and it still gives you trouble.

Very enjoyable take on a monster collector rogue like. It has some good depth, but some chimera are so much stronger than others. Once you step up the difficulty it really is difficult to pick totally different strategies to win at the hardest difficulty. The different talismans help with this, but some are just blatantly weaker than others. Overall I loved playing this and was great to 100%, but lacks the depth and nuance that some of the genre leaders like Slay the Spire have.
