I was recommended this game by a YT channel called The Backlogs. I honestly have no words to explain Ogu. This is unlike any other game I've played, and probably will not have a contender for years to come. The music, the story, the art style, the depth - everything that makes up this game is impeccable. The wholesomeness of the game is mixed in so remarkably well with the dangers that go on in this world. It is a world I don't want to leave and I am so very heartbroken that my adventure has come to an end. 100/10. Thank you for making this game. I adore it.

I would not recommend this for anyone looking for a challenge. A lot of hand-holding with easy puzzles and odd combat choices - I have no idea why it is required that you swing your net/attack before being able to dodge. I also really wasn't pulled into the world at all. I think it would be great as a starter game for kids and it's the only reason I'm marking it as a recommend, but just not for me.

Good ol exploration game. There are some negative reviews about 100% completion for the museum , but I didn't find it to be a problem. The game has nodes you can find periodically which allow you to get the rarest items from anywhere. Doing a true 100% completion would be time consuming, but not required for any ending

After entering the initial settings for screen size etc, it then either does not load or crashes. The forums state to set low res mode, but all that does is crash at the same point at the start. I cannot get this to run at all. If you want to try this game, buy it by itself and try it immediately. If it fails to start get your money back.

Fun game for casual gamer like myself. It has cross over vibes of Zelda and Animal Crossing which I like (I play in easy mode) - the puzzles are pretty fun/clever to solve. Recommend to anyone looking for a fun game similar to Zelda/Animal Crossing!

If I had to distil this game down to just a single word, it would be "Whimsy" this entire game just exudes a relentless aura of whimsy, glee and child-like wonder. And despite this child-like energy and aesthetic, it doesn't feel childish, it's fun and at times can actually be quite challenging. Ogu is a game where you can just go where you want to really, it doesn't force you anywhere other than the plot line and intro/tutorial, but after that? You're free to go where you want, you wanna go to the mountains? go for it, wait up you wanna stop in the middle and take a trip to the beach? You can sure as hell do that too, and this map is littered with secrets, mini games, puzzles, boss fights, and all that good stuff. The just has fun with itself, from drawing pictures to fill out your map, to fighting giant monster in a mech, and even an entire boss battle that's a god damned dance-off, and on the point of dancing, it heals you, need HP? just break out some moves and you're golden! The puzzles are also excellent, they take a simple concept, such as pushing a block, and takes it as far as possible, they do as much with as little as possible, which makes for both excellent and challenging puzzles. The puzzles range from logic puzzles, physics puzzles, and even a number of riddles, the riddle regarding the questline for fishing for instance had me genuinely stumped, and I had to go do other stuff and then come back to it once it hit me. And on the point of fishing, it's one of SEVERAL mini-games, pretty much all of which are great fun, fishing is my personal favourite, it really takes the classic concept of a fishing mini-game and hones in on the fun stuff, it has effectively no luck based element, other than the raririty of the fish, and even then there's an indicator when its a very rare one, and you even have a sign post at each fishing spot showing you which fish can be caught and even shows which you already have caught, and fighting the rare and very rare fish? Well I won't spoil the hilarity of how it looks. The other minigames range from a cooking minigame, which can net you some seriously powerful food, to a gem cutting minigame, to bug catching. Again it's just an adventure, you travel the world and do fun stuff. It also very much has that metroidvania vibe of "Hey I can't go there" then later you unlock something and you're like "WAIT A SECOND" and immedietly travel back to those places. The game also has a geniunely really good story, then simultaneously doesn't take itself too seriously, but also isn't entirely ridiculous, like you end up caring about the world, and the characters, furthermore the story doesn't overstay its welcome, and neither does the game, I 100% completed the game in less than 40 hours. Just do yourself a favour and play this absolute gem of a game, it has so much charm and heart, and on top of that some seriously stellar gameplay, each boss fight feels unique and fun, and the few times they do reuse a boss it has a changed mechanic that fundementally changes how you approach the fight. It's simply absolutely phenomenal and a solid 9,5/10 I have VERY few gripes and they're all extremely minor, the worst being a few annoying lacking control and keybinding options, such as the cooking minigame using F and J, and you cannot change it, BUT even that they have an answer for and item you can buy and you can consume it to skip the entire process. I also haven't even gotten into hats, a core gameplay element, you will me collecting and swapping hats all the time, because a lot of them have reallyt useful abilities, and in some cases are absolutely required, while some others just look fun or stupid, which is a joy. Overall, this game has a little bit of everything, but it doesn't feel like a jack of all trades master of none, almost everything is done extremely competently, from the music to the dialog, the combat and ESPECIALLY the puzzles. Geniunely this is one of those games I wish I could forget so I could go through it for the first time again.
