Playtime: 37 minutes
This game feels like it was made for a Game Jam and could definitely use some revising. The platforming is boring, the humor is dry, and the constant, unskippable dialogue boxes are extremely distracting. I did not finish this game. I played around 40 minutes before getting bored and deciding my time was better spent elsewhere. This wasn't due to the difficulty of the game. I quite like precision platformers and I like a good challenge. The main issue of the game was how bland it is. The art direction is unique yet greatly uninteresting. I think the idea that the developers were going for was that everything in the foreground is white while background assets were black. This can definitely work, but the only thing to look at besides the platforms are some flowers. It feels lazy, and I felt a headache come on from the harsh contrast of the dark black and bright white. The gameplay itself is quite simple: jump to the next platform. There isn't much variety besides moving platforms. Once again, I did not witness all that this game had to offer as I did not finish it, but judging from the promotional images, it's more of the same. The movement is unsatisfying and feels incomplete. When near the edge of a platform, your jump input will often be ignored and you'll go falling to a lower platform. The slippery movement is somewhat annoying but understandable, though I cannot excuse how momentum is kept upon respawning. You'll often slide off the checkpoint platform multiple times before finally slowing down. There are plenty of little things here that add up to an incomplete game. Moving platforms don't have indicators on how far they go, there are no settings to turn down the sound or remap controls, there is no way to skip or speed up dialogue, the jump sound effect plays every time you press the jump button even when you're midair, etc. This game would work as a mobile or web game, but as a $3 release on Steam, I'm quite disappointed. Unless this receives some bug fixes, I recommend staying away.
