Excellent Ultrakill-inspired game. Love the wacky movement, (only complaint is the loud death sound), Vhahahaha. The issue in the parentheses has been fixed, jolly good day!

This game is a piece of art. The movement is exciting, the combat is challenging, and the weapons are creative. You won't regret the $6 spent on this game!

This is an amazing game with a fast paced game play that is sure to make your heart pound with excitement. I found this game while looking for games similar to Ultrakill that have a good price, and this game gives it all. A game that is worth a detour.

Its a pretty cool game, though i'm not entirely sure if this is six bucks worth of content. As of writing this review i'm having a blast with it, though a few of the criticisms i have with it an be passed up and ignored if you look at Simulacrum at face value. To summarize, you go fast and you shoot, kick, and stab things before moving to the next level. Each level is an abstract void of geometric shapes that you navigate in order to both create and block sight lines, increase your overall momentum and clear waves faster. Waves consist of enemy archetypes that each do their own individual thing, such as red ones that chase you, black ones that spawn red ones, white ones that fire beams, etc. The first and only large take away are the weapons. You have three, technically four, that are at your disposal: The grenade launcher is probably the best and only weapon you'd really need to clear the game with. It serves both as a mobility tool and great damage output, dwarfing all of the other weapons in their respective categories. Why bother with the shotgun when this clears most red waves instantly and kills most specialist enemies in 2-3 hits, why bother with that OR the slice when you can rocket jump sparingly and get near double the movespeed boost. The shotgun feels awful to use as a weapon. The spread is absolutely massive but that's probably the intention. If you ever manage to hit a meatshot on the specialist enemies you'll kill them in 1-2 hits. Though where it feels awful to use as a weapon it feels great to use as mobility, even if its out-shined by its grenade counterpart for raw movement speed. What it makes up for in that department is the fact that you dont kill yourself and have a much easier time controlling how violently you wish to throw yourself into the void. To anyone reading this part in particular, you can shave a good 5-10 seconds off of your level transitions by aiming directly up and shooting into the sky. The katana/slice is probably the worst weapon, though it has the greatest potential to be something really neat. Its whole gimmick is to serve as an 'execution' of sorts. You can instantly kill low health enemies, throw yourself in their direction, and heal a portion of your health. But these three things clash with each other drastically in practice. If you use it for mobility you have to mentally juggle your position opposed to the enemy compared to the other two options where you can just look relative to your own position. You'll hurt yourself more than you'll heal if you try to cut through any of the red enemy clouds or any of the enemies that actively chase you. And what function it has as a finishing move can be replicated much easier with any of your longer range options. The final weapon, more of a literal tool, is the kick. I never got this thing to work as a damage source. I think the idea is that you kick enemies in-between shotgun charges or grenade tosses but you end up hurting yourself trying like with the katana. I never for the life of me got the parry to work either, and kicking off of surfaces helps with mobility a little bit. But unlike the other weapons you can do it whenever, so it gets a pass on being slightly wonky. Though despite all of that the game still works wonderfully due to its gameplay loop revolving around the movement and the enemies. Once you actually get a hold of how to grapple and move about each level the whole thing becomes a BLAST to try and speed through. You're able to easily read each level and where the enemies are, the sound design makes moving and knowing when you're safe to grapple and reel lovely and satisfying, and the music does that cool thing where it progresses through level stage progression. Is it worth six bucks? I'd probably wait for like a whole dollar off sale before buying it, but for what it is and what it's worth its a beautiful game that i'd love to see get some more attention either through player count or developer tweaks. If you're high off of Doom or Ultrakill or whatever, give this a shot, it'll be a fun little experience for a week and a half or so, and something in your library to come back to every now and then with fond memories, kind of like a pet fish but cooler.

A truly excellent game. Fast paced and fun to the core. Dynamic always, and thrilling at that. Simulacrum is a game for all who wish for quick fun and a good time. Obviously it might not be up to the industry standards, but hey, it was made by one guy in a very feverish few months.

HONEST REVIEW OF SIMULACRUM: Simulacrum is a game where speed is life and not knowing the best possible way to play the game is death. The enemy's are boring and feel like they are place holders for something bigger and prettier. There is a lot wrong with this game. But the real turning point is the story...jk...(there is no story). All in all I feel that there is lots of lost potential in a project that could have been so much more...but I still highly recommend it. I think this attests to how much fun the core game play really is. It's super fast paced, enemys(while ugly) are extremely well designed, the levels are diverse and sized very well, the menu system honestly rivals some AAA games, and the game overall is just extremely addictive. Now the real question is: is this game better than Ice age village? No, but its a close second 9/10
