It's pretty good. The story was nice, and the gameplay is pretty much just collecting resources, finding items, doing some small quests, and using your abilities to beat minibosses and bosses. Some of the stronger enemies you really have to choose your actions in combat carefully, at least on hard or very hard difficulty.

Incredible, I loved almost every bit of this game. Took a few hours to grow on me but then I loved it for dozens of hours after that. Excellent combat, story, art, characters, 9.5/10.

Pretty much the perfect cozy game. It is laid back, heartwarming, and has a ton of content. If you are a fan of the Atelier series, I highly recommend checking this one out.

Very cute game, does come out of the left field with how dark it actually gets. The story overall is good, cute, there's actual character development and progress, ain't that wild. The effort in animations and modelling is better than some of the AAA slop in the past decade. The hidden things are... difficult to figure without a guide, like, what would make one think that items in your inventory, that are not tagged as usable, have actual use for some hidden interactions... at least there was a guide for that.
And another thing you won't find until you either read the guide or get curious:
You can get both mechs from Kanna, one you repair with parts from the mine's mechanical monsters and iron ore. AND you can enhance their power and the artillery shell they give you.
Also the shell is a 1 turn cd for Black Joe, instead of the 2 for recovery items.
If you don't click that Pets option in combat you'll never figure out you can summon more than one pet at a time, like that one negative review KEKW
Yes it is just a stat check in the end, you can destroy some encounters with strategy though, and that's what Hard and Very Hard difficulties hinge on. I finished it on Hard, so I had to do some thinking and stat boosts
I did reach combat level 5 really fast because I tried every combat once, and you only earn exp from each field combat once.
Do fight everything, even if it seems not doable, might surprise yourself if you time an absolute defence when the enemy has multiple hits in an attack.
As for criticism:
Why is it optimal to do one training at a time to rack up the successes in order to get higher difficulties unlocked? Why does the training success counter not go up equal to how much training you put in? Why is it individually counting, what's the point of individual progress when there's good and bad choices for training?
Can I have a pet I assign as mount all the time instead of having to summon a pet? It's stupid when it gets auto-unsummoned and you have to go through the menus again, with no hotkey for direct mount summon.

WitchSpring R is a wonderful experience. Despite being a turn based combat RPG, a lot of mechanics are in place that keeps the experience smooth from start from finish. No tedious grinding to get the good stuff, but effort is still required to level up Pieberry and her equipment.
Combat is satisfying. Pieberry and all enemies have their own unique moveset with smooth animations that makes every hit by you and your enemy feel and look powerful. Exploration is joyful, the map is not large, but every area has a unique look and the game rewards you generously for exploring every area.
The story is okay. It doesn't bring anything new to the table and you can guess what is going to happen at a glance, but it is a satisfying story nonetheless. Every character has their own charms and have an impactful role in the story.
This game is a good choice for anyone who wants to play a simple, but enjoyable turn based combat game.

a very charming game with a decent emotional story but unfortunately very shallow gameplay.
you only get one real party member which is Pieberry herself. who's repertoire of spells while vast is also bland. many of them are just nukes with different elements. you do also get a few healing and buffing/debuffing spells. but since you only have pieberry your ALWAYS going to be healing/buffing her. and as for the debuffs? completely unnecessary if your at the appropriate level for the enemies your facing. and they arent really powerful enough to make fighting enemies underleveled feasible either.
While you do eventually get other party members in the form of familiars you can summon in combat. you can only have one out at a time, you cant control them, the enemy can't target them, you can't even buff them, AND they only get 2 skills each. which are once again usually just nukes of varying elements.
as a result many fights are just you nuking the enemy while occasionally healing yourself. hoping you can kill them before you inevitably run out of mana and they 3 or 2 tap you. their basically just statchecks.
The crafting system of this game is probably it's strongest point but it's completely wasted on such a basic combat system. theres many weapons you can craft each with their own trees you can go down that have unique spells and passives associated with them. but 90% of them are once again, generic nukes that bring NOTHING new or interesting to the table. as a result you just end up crafting the weapon that gives you the most tankiness and damage at the same time. there is absolutely zero thinking required.
right so lets talk about that story for a bit... the plot is basically just that pieberries trying to find her mom with some overarching mysteries put in the mix. whos black joe? why did pieberries mom abandon her? why does this random merchant guy have all these rare and powerful magical items? the story is easily it's strongest point, it's mostly lighthearted but it's not afraid to dive into darker subjects when it's appropriate. the characters are all charming enough and its most importantly both personal and emotional.
what a shame the gameplays so mid. it gets so repetitive so quickly I couldnt bring myself to complete it. if your into VNS you'll probably enjoy it... but if your looking for a good RPG stay away.

A nice indie JRPG. It has some surprising deviation from JRPG conventions, like how you only gain XP when fighting a group of enemies for the first time, which makes the game a bit more interesting. Story is like its artstyle, the themes and plot progression are simple.

Ok so my toughts on Witchspring R: (no spoilers)
tldr: buy it and play it, you won't regret!
(spelling mistakes incoming)
Gameplay:
I started to play the game on normal mode, and later changed to Hard, the reason for me to change the difficulty was because it was just too easy, every fight did not represent any danger and I mostly was just spamming the same attack, while changing the difficulty, I still kinda feel like I could just use one attack every fight [strike] (god bless the lighting spells) [/strike], but at least I had to craft and use other support items like shields and speed potions to maintain my mana and health to survive stronger enemies. The game is not that punishing at any given point or fight, except when you forget to save before trying to fight a enemy that you are not yet ready to fight. I never got to use all of the spells or craftable items in the game, but I did had to make and use more items thatn I would have on the normal difficulty, which makes me wonder that maybe if I play on the hardest difficulty, I might have to farm more to make better spells and more powerful items to aid me. Another problem that I had was controlling Pieberry at some parts of the map, since I was using a keyboard I often found myself having to "fix" the direction she was walking because of the locked camera angles, but that didn't take away the fun feeling of walking around the beautiful scenarios on the map!
Story:
I really like and enjoyed the game story, the characters and the whole world story too, it made me laugh, smile and almost got me to cry at some points, for such a cute game with cute characters, some stories are really deep and sad :c I'll keep it short because I don't want to spoiler for other who might want to play it, but the ending kinda disappointed me, it was way too rushed if compared to the pace through out the whole game and some things just didn't make sense to be honest.
Overall:
I really enjoyed the game, it was fun, heartbreaking and had its moments being challenging with optional bosses and such, also had lots of fun with the minigames for training, Being the first game I've played from Witchspring Series, it did make me want to look and play the other games! I'd give the game an 8.5/10
