Got to the second quest and look and looked for the last clue to progress and I finally relented and looked on youtube, turns out a clue didnt trigger and softlocked me. not good to happen within the first 2 hours. My first and last time playing a game like this.

A fun game, easy to get all the achievements in just one playthrough but encourages replays to unlock bonus costumes and artwork/items. As this is my first Sherlock Holmes game I have nothing to compare it to. Nevertheless I have enjoyed this game, Holmes and Watson's dialogue were entertaining though I wish the facial animations were a bit more expressive, the stiffness does not match the otherwise emotional performance at times, but it's a minor nitpick. The different mechanics can be challenging to grasp in the beginning, but I think by the second chapter you'll already have a firm grasp of them. Though there is a lack of side content in the base game, the most you can get is a short side quest during the 7th chapter. It's a great time, and I can see myself replaying this again to unlock the remaining bonuses, but I wouldn't recommend this as your first Sherlock Holmes game as it is a sequel, but then again this story is self contained, so it's up to you.

i think the only real 'critcism' i have of the game is that it is a bit short ; ; i loved the investigation mechanics and would play a game entirely of solving different cases if tht just made it longer w

This is game is average. A solid 6/10. The animations and cutscenes are really clunky, but the story is good enough to keep you playing.

I loved the young Sherlock Series!!! I loved the plot, the marriage between Lovecraft, Stevenson and Doyle !!! Frogwares has perfectioned the art of deduction in this new edition. You won`t get as lost as in the Cordona, because they have polished the game for you so you can just enjoy deducting and theorizing. Chefs kiss mwak I love it. kEEP IT UP with the amazing stories.

I played the original game a long time ago. Just finished this one and liked it a lot. I prefer the new Sherlock to the old one. The new Sherlock from chapter one and this game has a personality beyond just being a hardcore detective.

5/10 I finished it, but my enjoyment from it was minimal. PRO: - Atmosphere - Graphics - especially faces and environment. - Voice acting - Music - no bugs CON: - The story is based on the supernatural, where the pair tracks down and stops a supernatural event that would destroy the world. This is nothing like the original Sherlock Holmes stories. - Deduction is negligible; clues are missing important aspects, and consequently tie together somewhat arbitrarily. - To zero in on clues, you have to very precise, and sometimes the target hot spot is much smaller than the object of interest. This is difficult with a controller. - The map does not show your current location, making navigation very confusing. - There were many points where I had to resort to a walk through to proceed. Most of these were not because I was not smart enough to solve a puzzle - they were just non-obvious choices on the part of the designers. - The game includes action elements, which makes no sense in a game of this type. Some of these require coordination and timing that some players will find challenging. For me, this did not add to the enjoyment, and was mostly just frustrating. The worst of these was the final boss scene: if you fail a step, you have to redo it, and the long cut scenes between each step cannot be skipped. The only saving grace is that you don't have to do the entire sequence from scratch. I recommend it only if you are bored, and can find it at a deep discount.

As a long-time fan of Sherlock Holmes and the previous Frogwares games, I went into this expecting another deep, deductive experience grounded in logic, clever mechanics, and rich character work. Instead, what I got was basically a standard eldritch horror game wearing a Sherlock Holmes skin — and while I do enjoy Lovecraftian horror, this felt more like a mismatch than a fusion. Holmes is a symbol of rationality, logical thinking, genius and brilliance. But in The Awakened, he’s reduced to a helpless victim of cosmic horror with no agency or insight — a character being dragged along a nightmare rather than rising above it. Where did the detective work gameplay go? Previous games gave us disguise mechanics that influenced the success of missions, investigations with multiple solutions, use of Holmes' personal library, newspaper research and chemical station, and moral choices with consequences. Many cutscenes and key story beats feel abrupt. Take the ending to the New Orleans arc for example. My main criticism is that the story could have been about anyone. It doesn't matter if the main character was Sherlock Holmes - replace him with some other character, and nothing changes at all. Now that might be ok for some, but considering this is supposed to be the follow-up to the Sherlock Holmes game series, it's disappointing. I do appreciate that the team managed put out a game amidst the conflicts in their country. It's impressive, but the criticisms still remain. 👍 What’s Good: Beautiful visuals and atmosphere Excellent voice acting Creepy environments and cult themes if you like horror If you like eldritch horror and want a linear story line to play in the 1880s, then I recommend the game. If you're here to play a Sherlock Holmes game, I would suggest some of the previous editions instead. It’s not that this game is bad. It just isn’t Sherlock Holmes.
