Good replay potential, skinner box mechanics, love it.

There are a lot of space shooter games out there, and this one is a lot of fun. It's not especially challenging, which is sort of a good thing, as there are a lot of games in this genre that fall into the category of "gets harder and harder until it feels unfair and you die." This one has a winnable campaign instead. Cosmic Ascension is a bit more casual, but still requires some concentration to win. I've only won with the base ship thus far though, so I don't know everything about it. I've only won with the base ship as of this writing, but there's clearly some replay value in the other ship types and other upgrade strategies, so I think this is well worth the price. For some reason it doesn't work properly with my controller, and nothing but the joystick works which is my main criticism, but I found that the classic RPG controls and mouse works best for me anyway. Also, I found some of the weapons are notably better than others, so there is an element of luck in getting access to the right upgrades. This isn't necessarily bad, but it does feel a bit random at times.

A young Warren Buffet suggested this game to me and I wanted to try it out. It's insanely good, like starship Synthetik. The starships are all support different playstyles. I'm a big fan of the aircraft carrier that lets me summon starfighters because I can't aim for shit but they do all of the hard work for me.
