I haven't watched the TV series much.I was introduced to it by a friend when it showed up on Amazon but I was struck by how relevant the series seemed today with the pandemic going on. When it showed up on my steam feed I was intrigued to see it, I have an affinity for small indie style games and as this was developed by the people who did the show I was hoping the feel would be there. It was, the artwork and music are great and you feel like you are truly auditioning for the Mall rats as you progress through the game. Yes the engine can be a bit clunky but for a first time game creator I think it is a magnificent effort. I remember my first few hours of WOW and for a company that spent millions it was unplayable, so was Mass effect, SWTOR and numerous others I could mention but with time and constructive feed back these games became the polished articles they are now.

I haven't had much time of late for gaming due to work and have not watched the TV series. I was only introduced to it through a recent promotion on Steam for RPG Maker, which I'm interested in because I like story-led games and especially ones similar to Stardew Valley. I noticed a review stating about triple-A games and clearly this isn't a multi franchise mega budget franchise. It seems that the developers are truly indie and I really have loved playing the game and getting to know the characters and setup. I'm amazed that the series has been around for so long because it seems so fresh and relevant today. If you're into the multi franchise mega budget type of games, then this probably isn't for you. But if you enjoy story led games and if you're like me, you will warm to all this has to offer. The artwork is awesome. I love the music (I must try and check out where I can obtain some of the tracks). I felt like I had to prove myself through all the quests to be accepted by the tribe and it was like starting a new school or job, getting to know all the new characters and meeting new friends. I loved the farming, foraging, professions and having checked out the special features, I've already started binge watching the series on Youtube (very annoying though with all the ads) so I might try and get a DVD version. The problem now though is that in trying to organise my time better with being busy at work, I'm needing to find more time to not only finish playing the game. I can't stop. I'm about to rush off to work as I've had to stop. But like a good book, I'm trying to make the game last. At least I'll have all the television series to keep me busy. So far I haven't experienced any problems with bugs, though I think the engine maybe makes a few things a bit clunky. But that certainly hasn't detracted from my enjoyment. I think it's really enjoyable and quirky and I'm sure that most fans who love the series will enjoy it and newbies like me will as well.

Well, The Tribe got its own game, or to me more precise, a proof of concept of a game. As a game the initial version doesn’t cut it at all. What you’re getting is more or less a clickable episode of the show, with you as the star. The scenes gives an illusion of being open-world, but you’ll quickly find that whatever you do has little impact on the story. As a proof of concept, it is workable, but as a game it’s lacking

Acutally, I am torn about this game. I don't want to give it a thumbs down, but it's not exactly a masterpiece. So lets break it down a little: pro: -for fans of the show this is pure nostalgia -it is really nice to be able to interact with the characters of the show -the artwork is gorgeous -the music is well picked -the story is near enough to the show so you roughly know where you are in the story, even though its not all in chronological order. but we want to experience something new, not replay the show, so this is perfectly fine. -the fight system is alright, kinda like an old „final fantasy“ or „breath of fire 3“ Con: -you can't pick the games resolution -the german translation is not very well, there are grammar errors and sometimes words are just missing from sentences. -it says you can pick between english and german but I didn't find an option to change the language anywhere ingame and wasn't asked when installing which language I want. -it's still kinda buggy... i.e. If you accidentally look into a mirror you have to change your appearance (or at least pick the same options you had selected before) you cant just quit the process. Or you can't end a day on purpose by going to bed. you wake up and its still night and you can't really continue the story etc. -the games engine is not programmed to well, i.e. you cant pick any controls you like, which would be alright if you could at least look up the controls, but there is no „help“ option. For changeing furniture colors I had to ask the support on facebook. Granted, they answered fast, but there is no way to find out how to do it besides trial and error ( it's page up/page down in case anyone was wondering) etc. -farming process is very tedious -It's completely infuriating to me that you walk past a dozen forageable items in cutscenes but get no chance to pick them up because you cant go back to get them. Just don't show the sparkle in the cutscenes then. -You can pick you answers when interacting with people. Now this should be a positive, but the answeres are mostly saying the same thing, just formulated a little differently. It's not like you get a choice, when Lex is flirty with you that you can choose to flirt back or insult him or something. The game gives you 2 answers to choose from that both basically say, no thanks. At that point there is no need to even give us a choice. -but what bugs me the most is this: you can't just decide not to play the story, go exploring and meet people. You get teleported places you need to go and forage a few maps at the time and talk to the people that are there, but you can't leave there until you have found your objective. Sometimes you have farmed the whole area and have to wait for respawn, and when you have what you need, you can't decide to stay in the location. The story teleports you to the next area you need to find stuff. In conclusion: I was very excited for this game. But even though my expectations weren't to high, because I knew the developers are new to the gameing scene I am a little disappointed. Nostalgia and storywise its a great experience, but gaming wise it has alot of room for improvement. I hope they keep working on it and learn a little from titles like stardew valley. I will finish playing the story, and maybe my biggest complain will vanish later in the game. We will see. I will edit if something changes :) KTDA

First of, It is a lot of fun to see the old characters from the show and feel like you are a part of it! The artstyle captures the characters well. The game kind of looks like and also plays like a GBA-game on an emulator, which is fine if you are used to that. It kind of fits the late 90's / early 2000's vibes. It took me a while to figure out the best way of using the controls but after I did I had no issues with it. The storyline is linear, meaning you don't have a lot of choices, but I guess you could see it as an visual novel kind of game. The battles are turnbased and the mechanics not hard to learn. If you just know what to expect from the game you won't be as dissapointed and might actually like it. :)

A must if you're a the tribe fan! I see a lot of people complaining of bugs and that it's too limited, but I was honestly very impressed, taking into concideration that this is a low budget game made from a series that's over 20 years old it's a very impressive and enjoyable game :D Also love how they implemented so many characters, even tomorrow characters! would play again 8/10

Positive: I am a fan of the TV series and was interested in this game. The game is very faithful to the TV series and a lot of effort has gone into the art work and gameplay. Negative: I didn't expect a AAA title, but this game just doesn't hit the mark at all. There are too many bugs, the menus are hard to navigate and simple actions you expect to work on a game don't, like pressing esc to quit. Whoever made this probably hasn't made many games previously. I wasn't expecting much but it isn't even good enough for a bit of casual gaming and is quite frustrating. I only played this for a few minutes before asking for a refund. If you really want this game, I would wait a while for it to be patched because in it's current state it isn't a good gaming experience.

Im really enjoying the game so far even tho the controls are a bit meh and the combat system isnt the greatest either. But its super fun to meet all the characters from the show and explore the world you already know so well from the series. Also the art is just gorgeous and very well done. I also love the music. ~ Done with the game after about 9hrs of playing. Had lots of fun and would still recommend it, perhaps in a sale. I wish it was more Open World, would have loved to explore even more instead of being pushed through the story. Hoping for DLCs to meet more Tribes and continue the story. - KTDA

No Power, No Chaos. I firstly want to say I love The Tribe and the show has been a big part of my childhood. So when the talks about a game and sneak peeks of the art started popping up, I could not be unexcited about it. But now here I am. Few minutes less 14 hours start to finish, in two sittings, and even that was pretty generous amount of stalling. Positives - the art is beautiful and captures the characters true and with love, the dialogue and interactions loyal to the show and humour in it. Negatives - Firstly, the controls are horrible. I had to exit once or twice completely right at the start, because I couldn't progress or see what I was doing with the game. If you have any accessibility issues you will struggle from the get go. The first thing I usually do when starting a new game, is go over audio options etc. But without info on the clunky controls at first, I couldn't change anything. Which should not be a thing in 2022. Eventually after changing some audio settings, not all sounds actually complied to them, and I had deafening seagulls screech at me every time I went to the beach. Despite the game being so simple and having bad controls, the absence of proper tutorial going over basics was striking, yet ironically (without spoiling) when you get used to the gameplay, the game decides to hold your hand and repeat things over and over and over until the end. Adding to bad controls/lack of, the game looks old, in every possible way, and not a release of 2022. The game itself is very simple, and could've used more time and love. The skills level up and cap out in no time and have no real weight in progress. At no point was I given actual choice to do or decline in something meaningful (like joining a tribe), only dialogue, which again did not have any effect on the outcome. Sometimes, the game would take over so hard, you'd miss areas to see and things to gather completely. At no point was I actually given the chance to explore and loot ie the front of the Mall. Only the battles I found to be somewhat challenging and change of pace - to a point. The plot also follows very closely to the show, but gets abruptly cut off and "the end" screen pops up. I really really waited for this game and did not want to be mean or negative in any way. But as a big The Tribe fan I am disappointed. I can not see a newcomer to the series or game, to get anything out of this and fully enjoy it. I can not see a veteran Tribe member to be satisfied either. A demo, early access or any other effort with fans would've surely helped with development and ironing out controls/ideas and other. This game could've been a proper length group project, with lots to do and see. Alas, my time part of the Mall Rats was short lived. For what the game is right now and what I personally got out of it, I can not recommend it or justify the price. Honestly, I would've rather spent the money on a part of The Tribe physical release instead.

Huge fan of the tv series, But unfortunately the game just lacks on every level. The artwork is great though and captures all the character perfectly and capture the cuteness of older graphic story games. But gameplay is none existent, barely any free roam, no exploration, the skills that you can level ingame have no impact on gameplay at all and can max out within minutes, the choices given in game also have no impact what so ever on the direction. The turn base fights are probably the best thing. except i noticed the stats bars, we had HP and SP, i would of like the item descriptions to match instead of MP. Its more of a very short interactive graphic story, completed in 8 hours. Would of loved something similar to stardew valley but with our much loved the tribes theme. Unfortunately the price isnt worth for just little gameplay.
