Why should you buy this game you ask?
There's a CG of Yuuki got stuck in a crack of the wall like some doujin!!
And there's a scene Gumi b00bs got groped!!
Spoiler:
Let sensei load the ammo, and then save Tohka, and come thanks me later
I cried when
Haruto discovered Rena's dead body
and cried a second time when
the ending song started playing and showed the class photo they took in Vol. 1
. Much prefer the BE as it had much more impact. This was a great read.

Fantastic ending to an amazing series, hope we get more.
I consider the bad end to be the true end, and the good end to be fantasy. The bad end fits the overarching theme and philosophy of the series perfectly. I do, however, really appreciate the good ending.

It's a fitting end for a Grisaia game, alright. I enjoyed this one more than the Labyrinth, but less than the Eden or the Fruit. Mood-wise, it's quite close to the Labyrinth, too. First few volumes I wasn't sure whether it is Grisaia or not, but now I'm certain: it is.
Looking forward for the future games in the universe. Seriously.

The only thing I am not happy about is English translation. Specifically, when it comes to U-chan. U-chan uses "she/her" as pronouns, and the girls call her "big sis". What was the point of changing it to "he" and "Sir"?
A superb ending for one of the best Girls With Guns series.
Definitely worth reading and every penny you'll spend.
A few choices, sometimes with real consequences. Is the series going to leave the traditional Kinetic format eventually?
Be careful: this volume has a dark and gritty story.
Non graphic, but it's not for children.
Downsides:
At this time, there is a (literally) handful of typos and mistranslations, especially regarding military ranks.
Nothing that would break the story and make it awful, but it's strange to find a corporal "promoted" to colonel, or a lance corporal being called a captain, making him the leader he actually isn't of his group.

Volume 8 marks the end of GPT series and there are 2 endings. Both endings provides it own substance which I think readers can indulge in. So make sure to explore all choices to get both endings! Interestingly, in vol 8, readers will progress through the story a lot as a boy named Patrick. He is a resident of TFA's base. Due to circumstance, he and his friend Bruno had to cooperate with Oliver(member of TFA guard) to escort the church girls to safety. Personally, overall I liked Patrick's side of the story more because of what his story brings. Indeed, the SORD team's side of the story is also interesting when it is about the action/serious part of the story.
What I liked in vol 8 compared to previous other vol is how petty choice can lead to significant outcome. And how, this time, choices can affect the story. And also how someone like Patrick, who is disconnected with the SORD's girl can have a significant role in the story.
In terms of story to end GPT, I definitely enjoyed it. Basically, a good way to end the series. IMO, those who have been following GPT series would be satisfied with vol 8.
Volume 8 is great!
Volume 7 was a preparation, but in volume 8 we see something big. There are many more active scenes here (almost the entire volume consists of this).
From the very beginning, we are introduced to new characters who are on the enemy side. However, they aren’t bad guys. We are being shown that not everyone on the other side is the bad guy, there are good people too. Because of this, you perceive our main characters a little differently.
And here we are more exposed to this crazy cult, which we were partially shown in volume 7. There are more scenes with antagonists and their interaction with each other. It's pretty interesting to watch.
And also surprising is the presence of choices that can really take you to different endings.
In volume 8 the characters are on the verge of death many times. And with our choices, we can either destroy everything or set off a chain of events that will lead our heroes to victory.
And personally, after volume 8, I finally got into the characters of Phantom Trigger, because I myself, as if nearby, watched what they had to go through. And yes, volume 8 has become even more violent and bloody compared to volume 7.
The events of Phantom Trigger have come to an end. It makes me sad, but everything ended correctly and logically, so I don’t have a feeling of emptiness inside. The story of Phantom Trigger is great. Thank you Frontwing for this series.
(btw, I like Homura so much. And Aoi Haruto is gigachad.)

From worst volume to best volume
Nice and interesting ending for series. I was hooked from start to finish.
One thing that i want point out: A lot of side characters have sprite. Usually developers save money on it, but not this time! This is commendable.

I mean if you already have the previous eps then this is a no brainer.
But if you want to start Phantom Trigger there's quite a few things to consider.
FIrst off is the pricing even with the current discounts at time of writing the total cost of the entire series is SGD$100 (Convert how you will in your own currency). At this price you could probably buy about 3 or 4 other full novels on sale.
Secondly some chapters are bad(5.5 and 7). They honestly shouldn't have ever been their own chapters instead and instead been integrated into the other chapters.
On the other hand
Honestly if you ignore the price I really enjoyed the series as a whole. I think most people actually like Fruit over the Labyrinth and Eden arcs of the original trilogy but I'm probably one of the few that really likes Eden and Labyrinth over Fruit. Take that as you will but the series does not provide an experience like Fruit where you go very in depth into each girl's backstory with romance also being a major part of the story. Instead it plays out a lot like an anime if I have to compare it to anything (which is apt since they announced an anime series but hopefully the quality isn't going to be bad), the main part of the story is just focusing on the organization SORD taking place in the future after Eden (No, none of the characters return) and its child soldiers.
As for specifically chapter 8.
This is obviously the best written one (I mean if it flopped the ending after taking so many years to finish I would be malding). I'm not going to spoil anything but I have to say that it managed to keep me hooked to binge the entire thing (4 hr+ cos I read pretty fast so average reading time I would assume would probably be about 6-8 hrs). Its what the entire series has culminated in, its honestly still Grisaia in essence, there are times where it gets pretty heavy, but there's also a lot of banter. Art is still great I mean its Akio, music is a banger especially the OP and all the ED, (all the different ED are pretty great). BGM is the same as the original trilogy for the most part (correct me if I'm wrong?) but hey I mean the original BGM is basically perfect so why change it.
TL;DR:
Honestly chapter 8 I found pretty great. But whether you want to spend such a huge amount to read the series instead of multiple other novels is just up to you. Would only recommend if you are really into Grisaia as a series if not, probably go read some other stuff that's cheaper. You don't have to read the original trilogy to start this series but if you have enough money to buy this you might as well just buy the original trilogy first.
Edit:
Have to add best girl in the series is Tohka btw

Been hooked in this series after the Grisaia triology, read vol 1 back in 2017 and now, vol 8 in 2022 in a quite coincidence date. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this spin-off series as much as the Grisaia Triology. It had funny jokes, sorrowful scene, packed action scene (can't wait for the animation), meaningful messages the write want to tell.
And most importantly, for all who about to read or have read this volume
TOHKA IS THE BEST GIRL
Spoiler:
If you don't wants all girls to die, save Tohka
