there is only 2 words that describe this game shallow and boring. the combat is way to simplistic for how long it is and the characters are just poorly executed archetypes you have seen done better in a million other games.

grind for weapons, enjoy the colorful cast of jrpg rejects, then date an OL that is barely keeping it together
all in all not a bad little game, altho the fighting system becomes a pain in the ass as soon as you're underleveled or under geared so do the side quests or prepare to suffer

As someone who is familiar with the older Tales of games, especially with Tales of Destiny and Tales of Legendia. I had a fun time re-experiencing side scrolling beat em' up. The characters and this world heavily reminds me of the Disgaea series. As I am a fan of that series as well, this game is a fun experience. It's a pretty simple game and not tedious. Would recommend to wait for a sale if you aren't convinced.

I'm REALLY liking it so far! The story is hilarious, it has Dating sim aspects, the crafting system is very simple and easy to understand, you have a variety of partners to choose from and you can DATE them! THE DEMON LORD DATING SIM! WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED TO KNOW!?

Like every review, the 2D part of the game looks phenomenal. Visual novel aspects reminds me of Luminous Arc series. You get try to woo partners with a choice system. Art looks really good stylistically. Choice system lets you woo one character while not letting you woo the other.
On the other hand, the 3D parts of the game probably need a lot of polish. Like watching a 3DCG anime, the 3D parts of it make it stand out for the worse, comparing its 2D parts. Its like two teams mash together their respective project to created this game. Combo system is one dimensional. There is a single move-set for a type of weapon. They could have taken the parts Summon Night Story (GBA) combat system and that would have been better. Every time your character hits an enemy, the action slowed the scene, which is very jarring. They should have probably put the resources into making this game 2D instead a mesh mash of 3D and 2D.
This could have been Summon Night Story on the PC. I'm hoping they would take more time developing the battle system.
i wouldn't recommend getting this game.
I will support it so that the developer would improve on developing another series like this.

It's a good game for when you want to turn off your brain and still be entertained. The 2D art is fantastic, and I'm really enjoying playing this big himbo demon lord and his interactions with the other characters. Although the battle system is kinda lacking, the focus isn't solely on it, so it's not too annoying, but it's a nice change of pace from it just being a visual novel. Still, the weapon customization and weapon triangle give it a bit of oomph, instead of just running into fights head first. I love it when games let me romance characters, and the dates being adorable really make me enjoy it. The only thing of note that I found really annoying was that in battle, there's this slow motion effect every time you hit an enemy, and at first I thought it was my PC having a stroke and dropping fps, but no, there was no fps drop. You get used to it after a while, but sometimes it can still be a bit jarring.
So if you want a cute game that can make you chuckle, I'd recommend this game, but if you're looking for something battle focused and dislike visual novels, then I would steer away.

A decent JRPG that gives you a resemblance of Summon Night: Swordcraft Story.
Witty dialogue, pretty good VA, and character designs makes it a relaxing game with no doubt.
Had a lot of chuckles while playing(or reading, you'd say) after a long day of work.
My main gripe with the game, however, is its shallow, repetitive gameplay.
Aside from maglam customization, there's nothing remarkable other than barebone skill system and hack-and-slash(which is exactly what you'd expect from this genre, but it could have been better).
No progression carryover to your NG+ playthrough either, so there's little to no replayability unless you're a completionist.
All in all, it was enjoyable. Consider this a dialogue-heavy RPG, and you get yourself a good treat. Other than that, there's not much to it, and I'd not recommend it if you value gameplay over dialogue and story.

7/10: Worth it for visual novel/story and characters. Not so much for the combat/exploration.
The visual novel/story aspect is quite enjoyable. The characters are typical anime stuff but done well. Having dialogue options to choose your own anime cliche response is a great aspect. It even gives you a little info on what character will like certain responses or if you're being "demonic", "cool" or "funny". Very much enjoyed this aspect of the game.
The gameplay is a let down though. The field is too zoomed in for how quick you run around and considering you have a separate battle screen I'm not sure why they felt the need to zoom so far in (or make you move as quickly as you do). Being able to pull the camera back a bit further would be ideal. The hit boxes on the weapons feel way too small for trying to get the initiative going into battles. The battles themselves are simplistic which isn't terrible but it's stiff and doesn't flow well.
There's a distinct lack of PC features though. I'm not a stickler for having every option under the sun but having 2 resolution options (720 and 1080) kinda sucks. More importantly though is the locked 30 fps. Not a problem for the visual novel aspect but it's very noticeable for field/battle movement; which as mentioned isn't too good already.

Here's a game with a battle system that basically takes the worst aspects of Tales and Star Ocean and runs with them:
-Basic combos with only a small handful of skills (which aren't really made to chain together)
-Low enemy variety with recolors out the wazoo
-Attacks that come at you from off screen
-Bosses that can't be staggered or combo'd at all
-Non-existent level design that consists entirely of a bunch of square shaped areas connected together
-Quests that take you to those same areas over and over again to farm enemies and materials, some of which take forever to drop the most basic things
Combine all that with a story and cast that don't leave much an impression and you've got a game that you shouldn't give a second thought to playing.

I'm not too far into yet but I'm liking it a lot. You get a lot of choices during the visual novel-like dialog segments and the characters are interesting, beautifully designed, and competently acted. Game got the aesthetic mostly right, love the art style but its 3D visuals leave some to be desired. Gameplay appears to be like that of the Swordcraft Story games, which is really cool.
