I'm currently on the 5th Chapter of the game. ! Potential Spoilers Ahead ! As the start menu disclaimer says: "This is a leisurely adventure game where you can experience everyday life at Fuwa Fuwa Cafe. Make yourself a cup of coffee, relax, and enjoy a heartwarming story!" I took it to heart and just took the time and play it slowly. Heck, every time I use the public hot spring bath in-game, I tend to fix up my posture, close my eyes, and relax. I love the different interactions of NPCs (and sometimes objects as well) when you have different girl(s) accompanying you. The Adventurer's Tavern was a blast to find and unlock! Though honestly, without the mini-guide, I wouldn't have gotten the "Developer's Hint" and thus not finding the Tavern. There's even a stand-in NPC for the devs, love it! Story was also enjoyable, I love the friends of our heroines. They are all supportive to one another, truly the best kind of friendship. Can't comment too much on the story or else too much spoilers! But It's your generic: "Oh no, our cafe is going to close. WHAT?! a fateful day I met with a stranger by pure coincidence that is now our manager is doing almost nothing to making borderline questionable actions that works and it saves our cafe, Yippee!~" But the interactions of characters is fun and funny. Though, I would like for more rivalry between maid cafes. (I guess the anime "Akiba Maid War" affected me) Cafe Gameplay wise, You can idle your way through when the cafe is running or you can have a more hands-on approach and help as a waiter. This makes people have more options to choose from!~ (Though I also want for us to help on the back-side of things like in the kitchen). Choosing the staff to be the waiter and the cook is simple as it can get. Great work! I still have one gripe in this game, and that is . . . I STILL HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO "RESEARCH DISHES" OPTION TO INCREASE MY COOKING ABILITIES, I fail all the time when i choose it and then no more "inspiration" because it uses all of it. Like. . . how many times do I need to fill the MC's stomach?! We can change the music in the Cafe but it doesn't save, like, I want it to play from the beginning of when the Cafe starts operating and not to have manually change it every time. Probably a known bug, but, every time you "pick up the order" whilst your heroine waiter also wants to do "pick up the order", We cannot move and/or do anything. I have to wait for another "pick up the order" and successfully do it to un-stuck myself. The brewing coffee mechanic is fun (I know you took inspiration from Va-11 Hall-A) but quite under-utilized. What a bummer . . . It's actually pretty fun and would've made it more entertaining if the surprise guests would've more lee-way on their preferred coffee like Va-11 Hall-A instead of the only answer/option is 1 drink out of 12?14? drinks? I can only give 1 gift to 1 heroine per in-game day. Okay. . . though I still am not finished with the game for now, this gives me anxiety because I'm trying to get into all 4 of the girls' good side. So for now, I'll stay indifferent. I can't customize the cafe is really bad, and the limited customizability of the apartment ain't helping the case. Would've loved more customizability, especially with the MC's appearance. But this doesn't deter me from playing this magnificent Otaku game! Environment Gameplay Wise, At the start of the game, you were given information that you can "quicken" the process of the table being built/repaired (i forgot). But hastening such process is like. . . Sabotaging your early game performance. I speed-ran through that and I paid the price! Like the dialogue makes it seem like an important thing to do, but no, you can just wait it out and it'll be built/repaired itself 3-4 in-game days later. Afterwards, the carpenter is basically useless. This game relies heavily on the use of bookshops, public hot springs bath, and the part-time job system. i really want the restaurants have more uses than just a worse stamina replenish per dollar ratio of the hot springs. The hair salon is a funny gag, I've visited it 4 times just for fun and giggles. It has no practical uses like some establishments; like the boutique shop. All the shops are basically useless once you bought their stocked items. So i would suggest playing it more slowly than I do. Mini-game Gameplay Wise, Love the crane game, ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE CRANE PHYSICS. Obviously it's more forgiving than an actual crane game. Hate the gachapon, nope, don't want it. It took me like 1 hour to just get 1 figurine that I was missing. Though I have a love/hate relationship when it's spinning as well. It takes to long to spin it (If it weren't for the animation, I would've hated it) The card collection, I am indifferent. But hate it because of the abysmal luck I got, I already got the SSRs first few packs, but the game refuses to give me the SRs from each pack series. Didn't take me as long as the gachapon, so it takes a passing grade from me. Misc THE PIXEL ARTS ARE GORGEOUS THE CHARACTERS ARE UNIQUE WITH THEIR DESIGN AND PERSONALITY (Main cast, Side cast, and even the NPCs) THE ANIMATION IS SMOOTH THE ACCOMPANYING MUSIC IS SUBLIME

Excellent chill game for anyone into Otaku culture (and even those that aren't). Part side scrolling story game, part cafe management sim. Long than expected, I just finished my second play-through (failed my first) after 36 hours. 10/10 would maid again.

I can't really give a full review on the game. I purchased it day one from seeing the cool little VA-11 HALL-A collab part and got excited to play. It was decently fun at first with some typos and bugginess in lighting that i'm not sure if it ever got fixed, however i ran into a bug very early on that softlocked your save file from progressing on an early day by telling you to go to bed but being unable to. Everyone reported this bug early on and around November 21st a "fix" was deployed for it, that said you had to start the game over on a new save file and nothing else can be done. I did that to no avail and still proceeded to get that bug. I had asked around on the forums for help but no-one really responded at all, so im leaving a negative review and hoping to get a refund. Really sad since the game seemed cool, but im sad i was drawn in by the ""collab"" part to a game i couldn't even play.

I watched someone playing this, thought it looked good, and gave it a shot. I wasn't expecting it to be my GOTY for last year. Charming story and characters. Mountains of references. I love how there are multiple save files, which helped me when I missed something. The fact there's even secrets in the game that I've enjoyed finding. The game was super fun, and I plan on gifting it to a few friends I see who have it on their Wishlists. Fantastic game. Still need to get around to playing the update, which I hope there will be even more.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the game. I am writing this after the update with Rin's challenge which was also quite challenging for me and gave me a headache first but I ended up learning some new stuff and luckily got through all that. The game itself is fun, girls are fully dubbed and it is a real pleasure to listen to their voices. There are many easter eggs from japanese pop culture, the community of other shops in the game is welcoming and you have a feeling that you belong in that environment where everyone on those 2 streets knows each other. At the end of the game, up to 6 other characters can help you in your Fuwa Fuwa cafe and one of them is really funny. You can also romance 4 of them which was eventually my successful goal. You run the cafe on a daily basis through two summer months and you have to make it profitable. It is not very hard task, actually it's quite easy. But I was not bored, the game still has some story side quests on the way and you are busy most of the time. There are some tricky/hidden things you can do in the game which gives it more depth and I am glad I got all the achievements in the end. The game has nice cozy vibe and if you like asian nerdy girls, this might be a game for you.
