A very dangerous game for someone with OCD issues. I just spent 4 hours recycling components ... The story seems interesting and the mechanics are good.

What an incredible experience this game is! The visual style caught my eye when I first saw clips of the gameplay. I'm so glad I picked this up. This is the best game that I have played in a long time. Coming off of a hundred grindy hours of the new POE2 update, this was exactly what the doctor ordered. This game is incredibly immersive and atmospheric. The way to boat rises and falls in the open ocean during a storm, the way the sunrise looks from your boat, it's all breathtaking. The sound design is incredible and creates a cinematic experiences constantly. There is so much temptation to stay in one spot and grind and craft, but there is an equally motivating force pushing you to go out an explore the ocean. Both aspects of the game, crafting/building and exploration are phenomenal. The scrapping, salvaging and crafting systems are awesome, it all just works so well and is so satisfying. Once you're resources are stocked, and it's time to venture out, what you initially think is a small scale game opens up to amazing moments of adventure, tension and discovery. The fact that this is still an early access title blows my mind. I really hope these devs and this game gets the attention that they deserve. This is such an enjoyable experience so far, I don't want it to end. There are only two minor points of constructive criticism that I have Sound bug- occasionally when using certain benches, like the petro refiner or during combat or picking up materials the sound effects don't trigger. I'm sure this will improve after EA ends. Combat- the combat could use a little more feedback when hits land on enemies. Example - after popping the squids center nest and the little enemies come out, shooting it hitting the legs make the legs fade away with no sound or visual feedback. It's like you're shooting or hitting through them, you only hear the effect of the crowbar hitting the ground and there is visual feedback that you actually hit the leg, aside from it slowing disappearing. Aside from that this game is a 10/10 if you enjoy (light) survival crafting games at all, this is a masterpiece In the making.

They need to drop everything else and work on optimizing. You've got an hour of gameplay before it tanks and tanks HARD. EA isn't the excuse it used to be, it's been in EA for a year now. Added PC specs to the review just to drive home the "1 hour before tanking" point. Fix it.

I really enjoy this game, however... Stop adding stuff until you optimize the game, latest update is unplayable.

One of my fav games that is still in EA and keeps getting better with each update. This is like a perfect mix of Subnautica , Raft , No Man's Sky and Breath of the Wild. You get a mobile boat base that acts as your primary home and transport across the ocean , the world is basically full of open-ended exploration points and the storytelling is generally environmental. Lastly you have a cool system-driven world logic (love them cables/pipes) and powering up different things to make progress.

Review update. (after 5.0 game update) I’m writing (or, to be precise, updating) this review while playing the game after the recent 5.0 update. I have to say, my main complaint about the game (memory leak) has been fixed. At least at the point where it was using 9.5 GB of video memory instead of 8 GB, it’s now consistently using 8 GB of video memory. I take back what I said about the game having huge optimization issues that ruin immersion. I’m also giving it a positive rating. Since the update is simply massive and I’m getting a ton of enjoyment out of the gameplay, it would be a crime to leave a negative rating given these emotions and this experience. Thisa was part review with old problem. Now it was fixed. When you start the game, it uses 8 GB of video memory (I don't understand why it uses so much, but okay)... BUT AFTER AN HOUR, it's already over 12 GB and there's crazy lag. You have to keep restarting it. It just ruins the immersion and the experience. I have to keep restarting the game over and over, and its just for keep playing. Im really sad, because im really liked this game. I’ll wait and change my rating to positive and return to the game with great pleasure... AFTER they fix the huge optimization issue.

I love this game... but sadly the devs seem only interested in adding content and not performing any QA or optimization. Every update makes the game slower and as of update "5" the game is now unplayable. It takes over 2 minutes to load odwn from 30 full seconds of the last patch on a samsung pro nvme SSD, and when it does load you cannot move or play anymore because of the lag and the slideshow of framerate. I played every update so far and exhausted the things to do before update 5... but now the game has been left in an nearly unplayable state. I have issued dozens of feedback reports on bugs, broken quests, very broken weapon and aiming mechanics and most go unaddressed. I understand it is early access but the biggest killer of games is compatability and gameplay issues, come back when you see the reviews start praising the bug fixes and optimization, if it ever happens.

This looks like it has a LOT of potential to be a real contender with Subnautica. No, it's not underwater, but this game hits the right crafting focused survival game, without the annoying elements of "survival". As a robot, you don't need food, water, or even to breath. You just need power, which is about the only "survival" mechanic. Looking forward to seeing what is in store for this game towards its 1.0 launch!

One of the best survival games I've ever played. Really mixes up the tropes and has an outstanding atmosphere and env simulation. I know this sounds like duh but one of my favorite things I enjoy about this game is that you are the captain of your own ship. Don't feel like grinding a platform? Go someplace else! Want to chill? Set sail and watch the sunrise and see what you encounter. Want a deep base building and almost factory sim? Go launch a rocket! Combat? Puzzle game? Story that makes you feel feelings? Point the bow and chose your own adventure! This game is many things to me, and I like that. Things I don't like: Gun play could be better. Small annoying bugs and crashes. Again these seem to get patched out. The devs are active and this is a really big game concept so probably will have little quarks for awhile.
