First of all i LOVE vocaloid and i bought the game on sale (with alll dlcs) for £19.99 which some could say its slightly too much but i was so desperate for the game... Anyways I have been playing it for a good couple of hours now and i LOVE the visuals and the song and customisation. On pc its difficult at first to really work out whats going on but I got used to it.The only problem i have is the lag,I know its a me problem but its really annoying when I lag so often. I thought going onto setting to lower the graphics but sadly not :<. maybe my pc is trash and needs freshening up. Overall the game is really fun and i enjoy the this project diva version it has a wide range of songs to choose from and ill soon check out mods for the game too!!

The game-freezing issue is just too severe. Honestly, I can live with minor frame drops—I don’t even need to watch the note chart, I can just hit the notes blind—but what’s up with the entire game freezing? It’s a straight arcade port, and the stage design is completely unchanged. It doesn’t hold a candle to Project Diva F2, especially for someone like me who couldn’t care less about the new songs.

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix+ is a joyful, rhythm-fueled celebration of digital pop music and Japanese vocaloid culture that finds new life on PC via Steam. Developed by SEGA, this installment is a definitive version of the long-running Project DIVA series, boasting an extensive tracklist, deep customization features, and fluid rhythm gameplay that caters to both newcomers and veterans alike. It’s not just a rhythm game—it’s a vibrant love letter to Hatsune Miku and the wider world of vocaloid music that surrounds her. At the heart of the experience is the rhythm gameplay, which remains as sharp and exhilarating as ever. Notes fly across the screen in sync with the beat, and players must time button presses or directional inputs to the music. The note patterns are engaging and increasingly complex as difficulty ramps up, with expert and extreme levels pushing even seasoned players to their limits. What makes Project DIVA stand out in the rhythm genre is how visually dynamic and musically varied each track is. Every song is accompanied by a fully animated music video featuring Miku or other vocaloids, turning each level into a small concert-like performance. These visuals, while occasionally distracting during intense segments, add an irresistible flair that few other rhythm games can match. The sheer volume of content in Mega Mix+ is a major highlight. With over 170 songs spanning multiple vocaloid generations and styles—from upbeat pop anthems to rock ballads, techno beats, and melancholic melodies—the game provides a rich showcase of the vocaloid genre’s diversity. Whether you’re a longtime fan or just getting into the scene, the setlist is a treasure trove of iconic tracks and hidden gems. The Steam version includes content from both the Nintendo Switch and PS4 versions of the game, along with optional DLC packs that further expand the already massive song library. Customization plays a big role in making the experience uniquely yours. Players can dress up Miku and the other vocaloids in hundreds of unlockable outfits and accessories, many of which reference specific songs or fan designs. These costumes don’t affect gameplay but allow for a strong sense of personalization. The module system, combined with optional UI skins and rhythm game effects, ensures that each player's game can look and feel a little different. Fans of Miku will appreciate the deep level of visual polish, and newcomers may find themselves drawn into the aesthetics as much as the gameplay itself. The PC version of Mega Mix+ is also noteworthy for being the most accessible and technically customizable version of the game to date. Players can choose between the cel-shaded “Mega Mix” visual style originally designed for the Switch, or the more detailed, realistic “Future Tone” look from the PS4 version. Graphical options, resolution settings, and input configurations are more flexible than on consoles, allowing players to tailor the experience to their preferences. Additionally, the inclusion of keyboard support and controller compatibility makes it easy for players to find their preferred playstyle. However, there are a few limitations. The PC version lacks some of the advanced rhythm editor and community-sharing features found in other rhythm titles, and there’s no native way to add custom songs or mods without third-party tools, which may be a disappointment for players hoping for a more open-ended experience. Additionally, while the rhythm gameplay is precise and responsive, it can be difficult for new players to grasp at first, especially when tackling higher difficulty levels without the benefit of tutorials or a gradual difficulty ramp. Despite these minor drawbacks, Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix+ delivers an exceptional rhythm game experience that celebrates the artistry, passion, and energy of the vocaloid community. It’s a feature-rich title that honors its musical legacy while making the series more accessible than ever before. Whether you’re tapping along for the first time or chasing perfect scores on extreme tracks, the game offers a satisfying mix of challenge, charm, and creativity. For rhythm game enthusiasts, vocaloid fans, or anyone curious about one of Japan’s most beloved digital icons, Mega Mix+ is a vibrant and worthwhile addition to any Steam library. Rating: 9/10

Miku is my favourite thing ever. No words can describe how much I love Miku. Had FutureTone on PS4, eventually bought this game on sale because I love Miku. Miku is love, Miku is life. Please destroy my poor ps4 controller.

I bought the complete game on Switch a couple years ago and finally got it on PC on a good sale. I don't even care about the rhythm game that much. I just like having over 250 Vocaloid music videos on demand on my portable Switch to watch anytime and anywhere. If I had a Steam Deck, I would do the same for that. The custom playlists feature is great but for some reason you can't give playlists a name on the PC version even though you can on the Switch version. Other than that, the only difference I noticed was a couple of minor differences in cosmetic modules. I didn't notice any differences in the music, though I didn't go through and do a song-by-song comparison, either. Overall, a fantastic version of Project Diva for any Vocaloid fan. Highly recommended.

As a fan of the Hatsune Miku series of rhythm games for 10+ years, this game is alright. Out of every game with her name on it this one for sure has the most bang for your buck (especially if you're getting it on sale, and it's on sale quite often), and that's not even getting into how easy it is to mod. The community's done some top notch work here. While MM+ is still pretty fun, mechanically speaking its one of the weaker entries, and just doesn't feel quite as good to play compared to, say, the F duology (F and F 2nd, both of which were available for the Vita and PS3 -- consider acquiring those secondhand if you're interested in seeing the franchise when it was at its best). It's also very obviously microwaved. MegaMix+ is a superior port of the Switch's MegaMix, which in and of itself was a worse port of the PS4's Future Tone, which in and of itself was a lovingly made port of an Arcade machine that was already about 7 years old by then. A lot of the content in this game is very old and you can tell; you could carbon date this stuff I think. Also, there are some glaring bugs on the technical side. If you go into the customization menu, it will reset your graphics settings to the highest possible, so you have to go back and fix it often. This is annoying if your hardware is on the older side (my setup can run most of the game fine on this setting, but there are times where I have to downgrade to the middle tier). Also, if you're playing on keyboard, the game really likes to drop inputs when you need to do simultaneous presses (double/triple/quad). The macros help mitigate that problem, but I do feel a bit like a cheater when I do that. And unfortunately macros won't save you from stutters, which I'm just gonna blanket blame on Denuvo. All-in-all, it's a fine game, but please for the love of god SEGA please just put all the PSP/Vita games in a compilation and put that on Steam, Ace Attorney style. I'm begging you. I promise you'll make several mikullion dollars if you do this. Do it if you don't hate money. Please.
