Great game in the vein of many solid base builders, however this one has a cool exploration layer as well. Developer is responsive and continues to work on the project. Definitely worth a look.

This game is just so much fun, it's addictive so be warned! Haha. Wonderfully engaging base building and management, scavenging for resources in the wasteland, fun combat, and great RPG elements and storytelling. The pixel art is adorable and nostalgic, the writing is quirky and funny. Reminds me so much of classics like the original Fallout 1/2, but with many modern twists and very open world. Really hard to stop playing!

a colony management game where you are a colonist, set in a post apocalyptic futue. your working for a defunct satellite that crashed into someones house and grants you research based on what it observes you do. it has a drone follow you around to watch you.
the top down perspective is nice because if there is a problem you can just handle it and the colonist AI isnt too bad. controls are OK and there isnt much to complain about for what is there.
the problem is the game is a little barebones at the moment and 8 hours is enough to complete most of the structured game experience. if i understand how the maps work as well nothing is procedurally genereated. every map is handmade and selected randomly. unfortunately there just arent alot of them. the update cycle has been quite slow as well. the studio that makes this is a sole person however so im not certain what else might be going one. but its a good start and hopefully more progress will be made on it.

This is a charming little game with a quirky story, you run around base building, surviving and following the commands of a computer that takes you from being a loser nobody to a somebody.
oh also you start out with a pet dog, that you can pat.

Sand: A superfluous game (herefore shortened to Sand) is a game that scratches a couple of itches for me, I like colony sims and management games and this game is like an extremely effective backscratcher.
Sand is also a game that does several things quite well, not just scratching my itches. There's also a story and side quests attached! Even with a handful of typos thrown in, the humour in the quest writing really shines through and makes you look forward to the conclusion of even the most blunt and lame fetch quests.
Combat took me a second to figure out, during combat you WILL NOT SURVIVE if you don't learn how to block attacks from raiders or even smaller animals like roaches, crabs and snakes. The punishment for being too greedy while out exploring the desert is severe and will make you cry when you die after finding a big haul.
What I would call mid-game is filled with plenty to do, this is where you transition from relying on exploration for your materials and start automating your base's output with a somewhat extensive power system with batteries, switches, programmable volt meters and signal inverters. There's plenty of numbers to go up, and plenty of dopamine to go with it if you're that kind of person.
Late game? I actually haven't reached anything close to what this would be, I wouldn't say I'm stuck on a story quest that I'm not even sure can be completed at this point in the game's development.
Overall it's a neat little game that shows a lot of promise. It can be a bit grindy at the start but you'll be making millions in no time from trading. It's a little light on stuff to do right now and it doesn't look very pretty but you're missing out if you don't at least give the demo a go.. If you enjoy games like Factorio, Rimworld and a sprinkle of uhhh classic Fallout I guess? This is definitely something to keep an eye on.
