A fantatic send-off to this beloved franchise. This game was already great when it debuted on Nintendo Switch and now it's even better on PC.

1 and 2 are way more unique with there combat and better for the money you spend 3 is jankier and not in a fun way like 1 for the price get 1 and 2

I've wanted to like this series since the first game. I don't tragically, The same thing happened with this game that seems to happen every time I play a character action game. I end up wishing I was just playing DMC instead. The search continues. Look I not claiming this game is a trash fire or anything, it just isn't quite there. Side note: The vsync doesn't work in the graphic options. Had to do it through the control panel. A small issue for sure but might give you an idea of the love and care that was not put into this pc port.

There are times when I wish Steam had a "mixed" rating. This is one of those moments. In terms of combat, it is even more simplified than what was present in 1 and 2. The story is all over the place. Some scenes are solely just Takashi Miike glazing. Outside of a few bosses, most of the boss fights were lame as shit. I can tell this has a lot of love from Goichi Suda himself. Maybe there's something I'm not understanding with this game... but, this really is a downgrade when compared to the likes of Travis Strikes Again. It's okay. All will be forgiven when the Flower, Sun, Rain remaster comes out eventually.

Do I recommend it? Not really. Is it good? Kinda... No More Heroes 3 takes some steps forward and some steps backwards. Even in just the shiny new engine visuals, some scenes look stupid good while others make characters look like they're made of clay. And I think that's the highlight of the vibe here: It's good, but boy is it bad at times. Multiple weapons and multiple playable characters are gone. One beam katana, one character. New Game+ exists, but for what reason? By the time you clear the base game, you've already unlocked everything. Only reason that sticks out is maybe you want a harder difficulty run. The open world is back. I know totally gutting it made NMH2 feel a little empty, but this open world is only slightly better than NMH1. You will crash into invisible walls and uneven ground geometry. The only reason you drive is to get to the next objective and there is nothing else happening in the world. Chores are here again, and it's fine. I don't think they're as painstakingly bad as previously, so I'm good enough with them. I think the bigger chore here is getting through some of the dialogue. There's a lot of good dialogue but sometimes so much fluff is injected into a conversation that it kills all pacing the moment was building. It's like having a pizza in front of you but having to sit through a real-estate sales pitch before you can eat a slice. The first few boss fights are harder than the later ones. Some boss fights in particular are egregiously bad. The main unlockables are special power-up chips, that are actually kinda cool but unbalanced, and t-shirts. Stop forcing t-shirts as a rewarding collectible. I think the majority of players find a t-shirt that they love and don't plan to change out of. At least that's how I felt about it. Most of all I really miss the boss fight as a reward for clearing an area of enemies. Splitting the fights into random areas of the map feels like unnecessary padding that doesn't reward a boss fight. Feel like this is the worst of the game by far. So what's good? Suda's style, the combat feels good even if limited, the music, and the off-the-wall goofy s**t the game throws at you constantly. It's really catered specifically for NMH fans, but even then, this game can be a hard sell.

If you combined the gameplay of this game with the story of TSA you would have had the best action game ever made but unfortunately we had to suffer the tragedy that is them being split into two almost perfect games of their own accord. An extremely successful attempt at following up the almost 10 year wait of 2 killing the series that falls short in the writing department. The tiny bits of story you can squeeze out of this like a very dried up and crushed lemon are juicy and delightful. I enjoyed it.
