I would recommend this game if you enjoy metroidvania's with a good battle system. The English sub Isin't the best and often times doesn't make the most sense. but its passable. so if your in it for the story maybe wait for them to patch it. but for the battle system and the metroidvania aspect. its a solid installment.

Good MV, actually quite underrated when I look at metacritic. I think this deserves at least a 8/10. It has a beautiful and well-sized map (including a good mini-map with custom markers and an unlockable option to reveal all missing secrets), very rewarding exploration, good ability-gating with the typical MV backtracking (fast travel unlocks after a while and there's even a second stage to it where you can warp to any save point from anywhere at any time), and a combat system that's more engaging and fun than in most other MVs, with a lot of unlockable and upgradable skills.
Downsides: Little enemy variation, not too many boss fights, and lacks some general polish here and there. But overall it's still a recommendation for any MV fan.
NOTE: I recommend to play on "hardcore" (second difficulty) right away, otherwise it's too easy later on. Hardcore mode makes sure you really want and need all the hidden goodies up until the end.

Seems to be going for a Metroid-vibe for its world, which I kind of dig. It's dark and moody and the combat is a lot of fun.
The story content so far has been abysmal. Here's yet another game by indie devs that fail to make me care about its characters. No introductions, no world building, you're just a fly in the wall, and you're supposed to like it. Item descriptions don't tell you what the item does or what its for, you're just supposed to guess as you go along. This makes me feel less excited to explore every nook and cranny of this world for items.
I'm honestly so done. Go play a proper Metroidvania. I recommend a Castlevania game like Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow or Dawn of Sorrow. For Metroid, I'd recommend Metroid Fusion or Metroid Samus Returns. These indie devs still have so much to learn from the greats.

I actually really enjoyed this, I admit some of the jump sequences could be very difficult and maybe i was doing it wrong on some of those trick jumps that were required. But it was a nice challenge, all in all job well done by the creators. Challenge to other players. Can you find everything before you activate the 12 cats ^^.

When you look at it, this game feels like a sci-fi take on AfterImage. And I'm not the only one who thinks that- the developers actually did a collab with the game, and Renee's outfit can be used in-game. But despite the looks, Awaken is very much it's own thing. You play as Tania, a "synth" (read: android) employed by a scientific conglomerate that is trying to unlock the secrets of an alien planet. The research complex is located close to the ruins of a magnificent city, and throughout the game, you will endeavour to learn more about the conflict that led to its downfall. While exploring platforming levels, killing a lot of mutated creatures, and fighting fun bosses.
The game's combat isn't nearly as complex as AfterImage, because you only have get 3 weapon types, and several combos with each. Timing attack inputs in groups of 3 leads to a canned animation combo, and combining them increases damage multiplier. The system is pretty basic, but flashy and fun, and as you progress, you ca unlock additional skills that make chaining combos easier. As Tania explores the world, she'll acquire mutations and gear that allow her to access new areas. The range of traversal abilities is pretty standard- dash, double-jump, triple jump (later into long jump), ground-pound, wall-climb, grapple and high jump, but they get the job done, and some of the more elaborate secrets and side quests require the precise use of combined jumps to reach the secret areas and check off the 100% completion for a specific part of the map.
The game's story hits on some surprisingly deep themes, despite its visual style and character design that can be off-putting to some. While I wouldn't say it was particularly emotional, I was still pleasantly surprised as to how much effort was spent to make the characters' motivation consistent and believable. The Story is nowhere near as complex and epic as in AfterImage, but for what it sets out to do, it accomplishes its objectives well.
Overall, the game is a solid entry into the genre, and definitely worth playing if you don't mind flashy, albeit repetitive combat.

As of finishing this game and getting the "True Ending", my feelings on the game are, overall, pretty solid. I do recommend this game BUT with conditions. If you're going into this expecting a deep and complex storyline with lots of lore like you get in other Metroidvanias like Nine Sols and Hollow Knight then you maybe a little disappointed.
Not to say the story is bad or anything as there are some good ideas here and I did like Tania as a character but the plot just felt a bit lacking to me. I didn't feel particularly attached to the handful of other characters who were present, not helped by how they just disappear for good chunks of the game. Heck, I was more invested in the history behind the island I was exploring and even that stops getting a focus after a while.
HOWEVER, the gameplay is what kept me invested right to the end. Tania is great fun to play as and the combat was a true blast and even kind of addictive at times. It's flashy, fast-paced and once you get a decent amount of upgrades, along with all the weapons, you got moments where you just feel all kinds of cool.
There's a good amount of stuff to find, along with hidden areas and several sidequests, that ensure repeat trips with new abilities are never wasted. Heck, you can even find cats throughout the game and rescuing a number of them will give you ways to tell when you're missing an item in an area which makes getting that elusive 100 percent completion in an area NOT a complete soul-crushing chore.
And yes, you can pet the cats so automatic thumbs up to the developers for including that.
Also, as you can tell by my current playtime, it's a fairly long game, especially if you're trying to get 100 percent on everything.
Overall, I did enjoy my time with Awaken Astral Blade. The overall story was kinda "meh" but the gameplay and combat were a joy from start to finish and I do want to see what these developers devise next. I would personally recommend waiting for this to go on sale before you consider buying it. That said, if you can stomach a "so-so" plot then you're in for a good time.
