This game got me hooked! With its highly complex J-RPG genre, it offers tons of activities and exciting mini-games. I feel challenged to collect all 120 characters in the game—hahaha! It's truly fascinating. The textures may be simple, but they still feel stylish and high-quality

Very very good game. If you love suikoden and turn based RPGs in general then I highly recommend this game. Very good story and good cast of characters. Can be grindy in some parts but overall had very good fun. Already planning to do second and maybe third playthrough using a different set of characters. They really did great in making the world feel alive and how every characters seems to have some reaction to events if you bring them along which is very nice.

Pretty decent game, though not as great as its ancestors. I really love the characters, especially Nowa- i have a soft spot for MC like him. The story and soundtrack are okay, but Suikoden still feels more iconic to me.
The autosave system is quite harsh and doesn't work properly. Some rune items and gimmick systems are also unusable. I hope future updates will include a speed-up option for normal battles, cz they take too long.
One arc that really annoyed me was the laboratory mission with Seign's team :))

The game is quite poorly designed unfortunately - from the pacing of the story (slow) to the dungeons (way too long), and the lack of interesting choices to be made in battles (same with the duels/field battles), the game just isn't what I'd hoped for. Skip this and play the remasters of Suikoden I or II if you're looking for a good 2D-HD experience (or play them again if you've already played it before - that's what I'm going to do).

This is the spiritual successor to Suikoden and does an amazing job of it. The voice acting is great, the storyline is enjoyable, the side quests are fun and interesting, the minigames are great. There's nothing I don't love about this game.

This is my honest opinion (as 'self claimed' Veteran Suikoden hardcore fans)...
Compared to Suikoden Series, this game lacked a lot of things: the mystery surrounding characters(like Jeane/Viki/Eresh/Roundier Haia), the not yet explored towns/villages aren't as intriguing (like Kanakan/Harmonia/Sindar), no Great Power like True Runes and its Bearer (Primal Lenses can't compare), no exiting faction like Howling Voice Guild/Dark Wind.. the world doesn't have any hidden items like, everything is visible, so no point on trying to interact with all object (like in Suikoden you will try to click X on every shelf etc).. well, maybe because it just the first game in the Series compared to Suikoden which already has like 60%(?) of the whole world, but my points still stand.
Also, no offense to the Backers, but the in-game stuff related to Backers downgraded the overall world experience, you can't ask in mind like "Who's this guy in the Statue/painting? what is this mysterious Object?" when a lot of the answers is just "the Special Backers"~
as Suikoden Spiritual Successor.. I would give this game 6.5/10 points.
I respect Murayama-san (RIP) and the Teams for trying, it is a Good Game.. I will still recommend this game to Suikoden Fans or for Gamers in general.

Overall, it's a pretty decent game (8/10).
Story's slightly better than Suikoden 3 at most.
Still preferred Suikoden 1 & 2's story. It does carry their spirit though.
The dueling cinematics are amazing. Base building felt more involved and a step up.
Overall level designs were pretty okay (but the spaces near the end were atrociously wide).
Tactical battles seems like they were aiming for something but didn't quite hit it.
Would have preferred if they kept it simple.
Locking a character behind a giant beyblade mini-game side quest wasn't a nice experience at all.
The descriptions for certain runes and spells weren't that helpful.
EN Localization butchered it with cringe.
If there's a QOL update, please make it such that you can appraise all items at once, instead of having to appraise one by one.
Looking forward to the sequel.
