Having played Model Railway Easily for 28 hours I feel I could recommend the game to anyone who has an interest in model railways but doesn't have the time, space, money or inclination to build the real thing. I have only used three of the landscapes and haven't explored all the possibilities but have found it fun to add detail to the railways I have created. it took me a little while to get the hang of laying track and making it go up hillsides and some of my inclines still look a little unrealistic but it is fun to plan increasingly convoluted track plans. Points are automatic and trains take alternate routes as they traverse them. Trains reverse if they hit buffers or another train so route planning is difficult. There are numerous things I wish had been included or changed. As other reviewers have mentioned, steam locos have no tender. Why? It would be perfectly possible to add them as another wagon I would think. There are only about four different figures, more would be nice. Same with vehicles, only about three or four cars. It seems hard to delete tunnels once they have been placed. Trains sort of merge through each other at crossings which is a little odd as they stop and wait at points. One thing that occurred to me is that it would be nice if a double track option could be selected so that evenly spaced mainline double tracks could be laid. Maybe it exists and I just haven't found it. Some reviewers mention that this would be OK for twelve year old children - I'm seventy one so not sure what that says about me! On the whole I have found it fun - it's cheaper than building a real model railway and doesn't collect dust.

this game is fantastic ,for years i have been looking for a model train game. i don,t need a game thats hard, its so simple to build a layout in a few clicks of the mouse. the level of detail is stunning and i can see that alot of effort went in to this game. also now you can change the terrain to make your layout more amazing. i give this game 10 out of 10.

Definitely worth buying. It shines when it comes to track-laying. One can construct, change, and develop amazing layouts. Besides that, it's fun to play. Developing scenery and building communities adds to the joy of the game. My first layout was worked on until completed. Why not, it's new. My second layout focused on a creative track-layout using only two switches. The transport train, with twenty cars, travels all over the layout even reversing direction without any help from me. It's not as sophisticated as some of the higher-level games, but it's not about that. I also bought Machinky which compliments both levels of play.

This game was good for my four year old -- a few hours of exploring laying tracks, watching trains go close and far, and making the ground go up and down and seeing the water fill in. I appreciate the bright, lovely renderings of the trains. They're handsomely done. I'm glad there isn't a puzzle element to it, the open-endedness is what makes it approachable for a young player. It also seems like you have to create variety at a certain point, and if as a young player you don't know how to do that, the game loses interest. Thanks for creating this, we appreciate the taste and dignity of games like this!

The game is alright but the controls are little strange as it mostly revolves around the mouse making it different to add elements such as tunnels to your save game

I have seen some video's and bought the game now, in the hope of my review will help you to make some kind of a gameplay - like in "Railroad Online" (see there map) - then it could be very addiktiv and fun :-) and some biggere maps to the gameplay, it would be awesome I have been looking for at game like this for a long time .......... simple to put tracks down, a lot of trains, cargo, everything for a town to look beutiful, but I really, really need the gameplay too! If you do not need goals like me, to have fun when you are playing (where you can make a profit by, for example, deliver oil, food and so on to buy the next wagons etc .....), but just want to pull a rail down and put some wagons on it, then it is really good, but remember the maps are limited in size (which is a little weird when you have a PC) I hope the dev will put in some work to do it perfekt with some gameplay, and I think if they do - It will be a big hit for people like me, not to avanced, just some delivery tasks - that would make it fun for me!

If you like to design and build model railroad layouts and then watch the trains go around your layout for hours like I do, then this is the game for you. Takes a minute to get used to the UI and if you have any 3D graphics design experience then it will come naturally to you but if you don't it just takes a few minutes to get used to. Graphics are great and you can really spend hours fine tuning and get a lot of detail in your design. This is NOT a SIM game where you become a railroad tycoon or something.... It's just for the fun of using your imagination to design a layout and have fun zooming in and moving all around your finished layout and watching the trains go by...

I picked this up after playing the original game as a kid, which was always one of those play to unwind games. This one however possesses not even the charm of the early 2000's game, nor the content. things like timers, switches, gates, all missing. Can't snap rotate objects or place objects in such away that they'd actually align. Even simple things like ui layout are very dated. Games and design practices have come on a bit in the last 20 years and its sad to see this one has stood still in time. I'll let this sit in my steam library and see if it's one of those games that gets better with updates but going from the developers actions I'd say it won't. 2/10

Video review: https://youtu.be/lZfzrgP0Ahg In the video I look at the game features, what it does, where the game works and where it does not. Model Railway Easily 2 is aimed solely at the casual gamer allowing you to quickly make a model layout with very little practice. There's an IOS, Android and Steam version. As far as I can see each version is mostly the same with the PC version unlocking a couple of extra trees (IOS might have these?). The idea behind the game is sound but the implantation isn't so. As an example the paint "merge" tools which allow you to merge the colour you are painting with the colour which is already laid works at the beginning but if you use it more than once you end up with new new colour just removing the under layer. The new gradient tool is a nice addition and although it doesn't create a precise grade instead creating lots of little flat layers heading up or down its good enough. The assets though are the same as the previous game and don't work that well on the gradients. The game for instance has road pieces but they cannot be laid on the gradient, instead you'll likely need to paint a road on if you wish to lay one. Moving onto the trains and carriages, the assets which include bogies such as long carriages are not rendered very well. The bogies do not turn with the track which is a shame. On a phone or tablet (remember this is basically a mobile game) this is okay as the screen is quite small but on a PC this should have been programmed in. As for movement, once again I'm not a fan. If the train hits another it just changes direction. At least if a train gets near to another one it should slow down but no, it keeps the same speed and heads off into the opposite direction. Its the same as platforms. If you place a platform near the track a train will stop at it. This is good but what is not is the it will suddenly stop and then suddenly go again. And once again on a mobile device I fully understand this but on a PC even a low powered on this is not acceptable. And finally the track. The track laying is actually one of the best parts of the game. They have programmed splines in which basically means you pull the track where you want it to be. This is an excellent decision and I will say well done here. The switches/ points though I'm not a fan off. They automatically alternate so if you set it to straight, once a train has gone over it it switch next time to curved. This means you can't park a train in a siding as another will always hit it. This is an improvement over the original game but the updates in this over the original are not enough to warrant a full new game. They should have been put in the original. This is also not of a full release quality, it should be considered an early access game that will likely never be updated as the original wasn't. My advice is to take a look at Rolling Line which is the same price, a little harder to grasp but will give you allot more enjoyment and satisfaction because its has more content plus Workshop with lots of items in. I wanted to like this and as a mobile game I do. It's just not good enough to be a full PC game

There is literally nothing changed or different about this game other than the terrain tool. Don't call a game a sequel when your adding a very very simple change that should be an update, not sell it as a separate game. Stupidly ridiculous!
