This game makes me feel nostalgic for the old days of flash games as a kid. Will definitely play this more down the road when I can fit a game in on a lunch break.

I bought clown town 1443 because the developer was in a random unrelated Twitch stream dropping Steam keys out of nowhere. That kind of guerrilla marketing appealed to me and so I decided to purchase the game instead, and that isn't just me coping for not being fast enough to snag one of the keys despite how generous the developer was in giving them.
As a big Friday Night Funkin' appreciator I have a soft spot for games that are basically love letters to Flash classics, and this game is very clearly wearing its Trials influences on its sleeve. There's a bit more to it than just a straight clone, as this game features a bit more depth to its mechanics, such as a heat bar that must be managed. You're free to bump around generally as much as you want, but if you overheat from too much acceleration you temporarily lose control of your vehicle. Crash in this state, and you'll have to restart the level again.
The design of the game is surrealist and dreamlike overall, with ladybugs that poop eggs and meteors randomly falling from the sky, with a final level that isn't. It feels very early Flash in its appearance and gameplay, but there's a competence there behind its simple visuals. It's very difficult in parts and requires some careful timing and maneuvering at times, and some of the obstacles are very devious in their placement, with some levels requiring careful maneuvering while being chased by a creature. However, it is very short. I beat the whole game in under an hour which means if you are twice as bad as me you'll still most likely be able to request a refund. However, I'm only stating that as a measure of the length of the game, and ask that if you do buy the game to recognize it for the short experience that it is, and beating the main game also unlocks an endless mode that will give you more if you absolutely love the core mechanics. This isn't an asset flip or fake scam game, the developer did put work in here and wants to pay homage to a style of game design that has soulful limitations built into its foundation.
The only thing I'd like to note is that for a sequel or update or whatever gets planned to be done with this game, the developer could expand their procedural generation of the endless mode to include terrain. I made it to the mid-800s on my score and it was mostly a flat plain with obstacles randomly placed in different configurations. It is very difficult as well and requires you to adjust to random obstacles on the fly while being chased by a bird, but more variety is always good.
