Awesome game, lots of ways to make your gunslinger tailored to your playstyle (drunken gunslinger/assassin is mine) - don't get discouraged if you die a lot, it's part of the learning process.

really good game, great stealth mechanics and its a difficult game that feels like there are consequences if you die.

Metal Gear Solid Stealth + Half Life Graphics in hunt showdown map. Fight all sorts of criptides and monsters for around 20-25 hours with wild west guns/melee weapons. would highly recommend!

Bought this game on a whim to slake my Western thirst, and walked away very much satisfied. Visceral, high-octane combat, enemy variety, and incredible loot kept me engaged across all 20-24 hours that are needed to beat this game. If you're into Weird Westerns, stealth-FPSs in general, or Stephen Russell shouting post-mortem one-liners into your ear, I will highly recommend this game. Now onto the DLC! Heard it's very voodoo and (as a SMITE Baron Samedi main) I am very interested.

Wished there was a mixed or neutral suggestion for this game. While I have enjoyed some of my time with this game, it's not a highly recommend sort of thing. Some of the sounds your character makes when running out of stamina and the vocal character dialogues can be cringe sounding. I'm not sure I will ever finish this game. I really feel it's an odd mixed bag that has a tendency to waste my time in a way that's not that much fun but at times can be fun? The game is really kind of meh, I've lost my interest in it for awhile now. I think I've got my money out of it to a degree. It's obvious this isn't a bag that's going to set the gaming world on fire but some people may get a lot more enjoyment out of it than I have. I get the whole sneaking thing, I just don't find it that fun in this particular game, it feels like too much of a slog and chore without enough interesting stuff to really cement a full playthrough, at least yet. I may update my review later, but for right now I don't find anything incredibly redeeming about it and feel it's a tad too bland and wore out too quickly for me. I may feel differently about it later, who knows. I'll at least leave it installed and give another chance at some point, my playtime is already over 20 hours.

It's a good game, though I got the Curse Of Gianni during the time I bought it, where every where I went, Gianni Matragrano was somehow involved. He's the spirit totem in this game, by the way... I recognized him the second it spoke.

it took me a while to get the groove of it, was a difficulty curve, but its really fun when you get the hang of it

Cool game with quality visuals, nice enemy design and stellar voice acting; playing through it is an utter chore as you are made out of paper and enemies out of concrete - the game tries to mend this by overrelying on headshot mechanics, its all you can do - miss once and you will likely die. One you do die you do so with less ammo and with curses to make your next try even more of a painful chore. Of course you can always walk into areas you already cleared to farm enemies to get ammo back and clear your curses if you like this sort of thing. Should you enjoy this game regardless, I highly reccomend a podcast in the background to make the experience less monotonous.

Not your run of a mill Shooter game, but fun to play. Also to be honest, I bought the game because of the band Ghoul Town.

Blood West is a STALKER-like FPS, with a light Immersive Sim bent. It's a fun, heart-pounding time. But some structural elements bring it down, and it is by no means for everyone. Combat is slow and deadly. Reload times are painfully long. The game STRONGLY incentives stealthy takedowns with silent weapons like melee and bows. The game introduces a "stealth bar" that fills up to show how alert an enemy is. Nothing ground-breaking, but by being very forth-coming with the stealth mechanics, the player is empowered to make much more informed decisions about movement and positioning than your average stealth game. Combat itself is satisfying and crunchy, but the checkpoint system is frustrating and makes me not want to engage with the enemy at all. Basically, you have no quick-saves and quick-loads. You die, and you're sent back to the checkpoint, of which there is usually a single one, sometimes a LONG walk back to where you were. Additionally, you are not reverted to your last save, you respawn, having used up your limited ammo and potions. While, thankfully, only some monsters respawn when you die, this makes death feel like a massive set back, and makes it foolish to use any of your consumables or ammunition, since they just get flushed away forever. Making death EVEN MORE punishing is a debuff that you get when you die. These range from, pretty small and forgettable, to big deals like a big cut to your stamina or health. The same debuff can get applied three times, where only THEN are you able to take on a quest to get rid of it. I'm explaining all this not because I think it makes the game terrible, but because I know a lot of people would absolutely hate these punishments. But if you're a glutton for punishment, and the idea of a STALKER western with big open levels and exploration appeals to you, you'll probably have a great time. Just be aware this game likes to be a jerk to the player, and I could handle the antagonistic design for the first two episodes, but ended up tapping out in the third, as the game introduced some more and more tricky enemies
