Revenants first off, is a very immersive VR gaming experience. It will scare you, wear your brown pants. In the game we play a Occult investigator, that collects evidence of demonic forces, then hunts them down. We have a range of high tech toys to work with. We are on a cold case called Spirt & Mind, its a old case of a missing school girl. We will be exploring a creepy old school, where we must investigate and collect evidence of demonic forces, then try to survive and hunt them down. This game gives me strong vibes of the TV show Supernatural, with the Winchester brothers Sam & Dean. Unlike Sam & Dean though, I was not as brave, and the hair on my arms actually stood up at times. The game world is dark and scary, and will send chills down your spine. From the spooky looking dark school we explore to the great sounds and background music, you will feel like you are in a horror movie / show. Supernatural made this job look easy and fun. It was challenging and terrifying instead. I went into this think, hey I'm going to hunt down some demonic forces, I am going to be a tough guy like Sam & Dean or at least like a Ghostbuster. But no, I felt like I was the one being hunted, and dreaded what was behind the next door. I am a 70s baby and grew up on horror movies, played a ton of horror games and though this will be a cake walk. No this game scared the crap out of me a few times and was far from a cake walk. You only have the light from your tablet to see in this dark school of creepy sounds. You may have some high tech toys to help you, but it will do nothing to keep the fear away. I really love the horror genre, and had an amazing scary time in this game. This is an amazing VR experience, and horror buffs are going to want to dive into this one. If you love being scared this is a game for you. Watch me scream in my preview, https://youtu.be/iEDQ6I2hW6E
Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/487Fw1M2iM0 So this game has a lot of similarities to Phasmophobia, but it nowhere near as good as Phasmo. It's basically a single-player Phasmophobia and you're playing on the school map. There's also a bit of a story here where you're an occult investigator and you're trying to find out what happened to a missing girl. You have 4 tools that you can use: a cube that reacts whenever a demon / revenant is nearby, a stun light grenade that stuns & then slows the demon, CCTV cameras, & tesla shock coils that can trap an area. You also have a tablet that can give you case information or that you can use to take UV photos. You'll see clues using the UV and you can also use it to damage revenants with magic photos. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On high graphical settings, the game was running at a steady 90 fps on my RTX 3080. You have full locomotion as well as smooth and snap turning (along with degree of turn or how fast you smooth turn). You also have head directed or hand directed movement, along with a comfort option. You can play the game seated as there is a crouch button, but I did find that I was a bit too low to the ground by default so I played standing. Overall, this game is budget priced at only $13 USD normal price (I paid 10% off release sale price). For that reason, I can recommend it even though it is lacking in the depth to the gameplay. I think the biggest weakness (compared to Phasmo) is the sound design / sound mix. It's not very good in this game and there were long stretches of game time where there was absolutely no sound. I also think the game could use a lot more depth to the gameplay. I was never really scared like I was in Phasmophobia. It is in Early Access though and it is a nice start to EA (just not a nice of a start as was the case in Phasmo). Been a VR pleb for a solid 5 years, I rarely review anything because I'm extremely lazy, but this game has made me want to voice my nugget of a voice! This is absolutely worth your time, it has the correct amount of weirdness, areas where you have to use your noggin and spooks for days! If I were to give you a rough example of what it is like, picture Phasmophobia but with the ability to defend yourself and build up a case to see what ACTUALLY happened to the poor ghost! Little to no bugs and ran beautifully smooth! This is only the beginning, I can see this taking off. I streamed it LIVE to capture my initial reactions here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1251153574

The map is visually pleasing and big, the cube was very handy, and the tablet felt really nice. Not finished it yet but seems to have a decent amount of gameplay.

Like most games that just released from small Indie Devs, it has its share of bugs. But if you can look past that it's the perfect game for what it is. A great "ghost hunting" game that gives you an interesting single-player experience looking for clues/evidence and solving cases all while being hunted by ghost along the way. Although I love a Co-Op experience I can understand/appreciate how they've created the way their game is to be played. All in all for the price it's listed at ($12.99), I think the game has a fair amount of content, and the Devs can't do anything now but add more along the way with support.
