At the time I'm writing the review, I've spent 11.1h playing the game.
I've played the demo for a few hours before and now I've been playing the game on stream for 2 days straight (you can join the stream if you're curious to see how's the game: twitch.tv/frenchy_dandy)
Personnaly, I think it's one of the best survival game I've ever played in a long time, and I've played a whole lot of survival games these last few years.
I have so much to say about how good and surprising the game is...
Let me explain why:
First of all, I'm adressing the elephant in the room.
Let's talk about the top down view. I wasn't really comfy with that choice honestly and I'm so glad that a 3rd person view has been added, it has litteraly changed so much my ability to enjoy the game. The good thing is that's an adaptable 3rd person view, where you can zoom in/zoom out in order to get a far away view, as for example, when you're skinning a dead animal and you need to check your surroundings to avoid predators, really useful ! So a huge thanks to the devs, that was a really good move from you to do that!
But let's get back to the core of the review.
I think you need to like survival games to like that one (obviously), otherwise you'll be frustrated by the rythm and the amount of craft/thinking you'll have to do.
It's the kind of game which is very enjoyable to play and to learn progressively.
You have a tutorial to accompany you for the basics (how to craft, how to build, how to cook, etc...) which is very welcomed, but the thing is that you will need 2 or 3 new games in order to start with good knowledge and better management. You learn from your mistakes and that's why it's cool; you can still go out on internet trying to get all the informations you need to know how to do this or that, but I think i'ts way more enjoyable when you try and experience things by yourself, after all, it's a game about exploration, discoveries, craft and survival; it would be sad to just letting people of the internet make all the discoveries for you, don't you think?
The pace is relatively slow, because it's immersive and realistic.
It can bother people who are used to accomplish objectives at light speed in order to speed run the game, but if you enjoy slow and relaxed experiences in survival games, you'll be very happy here.
Everything makes perfect sense. You'll find lots a rocks/minerals at rocky areas, and wood/branches close to a forest area.
I know it sounds stupid saying it like that but everything is rational and logical, even the areas where plants are growing.
If you cross a river or if you stay under the rain, everything will be soaked, even in your backpack, and you'll need to dry them with the campfire; it can even affect the "burnability" of ressources, your wet piece of wood might not burn as good as a dry one.
I've also learned some very "real life" knowledge while playing the game too (did you know you can get sodium from boiling dandelions roots?) I can feel the love for nature and survival from the devs, it feels authentic and passionate.
What I have to say about negative aspects is that I would like to have a jump action to help climbing some soft slopes (not only the "climb over" action) because it's a little bit frustrating to be blocked by a part of the terrain that shouldn't be inaccessible; also about the hitbox/range of weapons when you're swinging them to kill something. It doesn't feel very good at the moment and sometimes feels like we're hitting the wind instead of the target.
If I have to compare The Last Plague: Blight to well known games, I would say that Valheim comes very close in terms of harvesting/crafting/building/exploration, but for the survival aspects its something more like GreenHell, where you really have to purify water, make some lotions to cure diseases etc... (keep in mind that wounds will be added in future updates too).
I've probably forgot a lot of things to tell you about how good the game is, and also because I'm still in the early game stage, I have a lot more things to do in the days to come. I might come back later to update that review if necessary.
My final advice: try the demo, take time to bind your keys to be comfortable to play the game, switch to 3rd person view (if you prefer of course) and let yourself be guided by the thirst of discovery and exploration. It's a very relaxing game, even if you could face some challenges, but it's not stressing you out, it's not a race against time if you know how to manage things rationally. Just be organized and you'll be able to enjoy that game at its full potential.
Hoping that it will convince you to try that very special game (:

They managed to get a large update out just under the wire. Kudos. I do hope they manage to keep up with the roadmap.
As I said, if the update came out on time, I'd re-review. So, I did. Now positive.
Still, try the demo, see if it's a fun time for you. If you enjoy the demo, buy the game.

This game has a wonderful attention to detail and an amount of realism that is challenging without being burdensome. I hope they keep working on it because it's a great game so far.

Solid Game
I would say this game is on par with Green Hell, though less intense in a way I really appreciate.
Still needs work in the qol and polish dept, but it's got a good foundation with intuitive systems such as being able to simply rt click on an object in inventory and select "create stockpile" and that is literally all you need to do with most construction materials.
The world is your stockpile however, as I haven't noticed any of my floor-storage items magically disappear; even when I so desperately wish they would.
Luckily, cleaning the floor is a one-button operation. Simply hold the button and watch your ugly little guy vacuum up the forest floor with little regard for obstacles or personal safety.
5 stars for not making me late to work in the morning.

Way too difficult for little reward. The grind is too much and just not fun.

Not yet. Review may change upon release but for right now, this isn't any fun to play yet. Combat is a non-starter and keeping track of your stuff and crafting in game is a chore rather than engaging. Give the developers some more time before trying this out just to be disappointed. Giving it a thumbs up for potential, but put it on your wishlist for now.

I will give my honest review about this game. And I will try to be quick and precise. This game overal is solid and good. It is both intimidating and fun, hardcore survival game that one could say that is pretty much close to a simulation of such times. I admit that the battle part is still chunky but it is not that bad, definitely can improve. The building system and the survival system is very thorough and cool and it doesn't feel like you need to do boring stuff. You have to put time and effort and that's what makes this game interesting. It also doesn't feel like you need to grind and grind this game and ends up in a "Woodcutting competition" as many believe. This is the overal image, graphics good, fighting needs improvement but it is not bad, building system and survival system awesome, storyline is not something that original but it doesn't feel like it just exists, it plays part in your adventure and survival in total (blight affects everything so every decision you make counts).
I am waiting for new features and for the roadmap that was recently published, and I am so eager and excited because this game is all I was waiting for.
Really worth the time and money one can invest. I have played 2 hours in the full game and I have played the DEMO version (another plus for someone who wants to try it) over 19 hours to see what this is about. So I think that I have a basic if not extended image of the game.
Really good job, I hope for more, I recommend it without a doubt.
