Hajimari is very story focus rather than having a tons of side quests like every other kisekis. Its sort of like an OVA for an anime but at the same time, whatever happened in the story is also very important and you probably don't want to miss out.
Being able to play over 50 characters is really overwhelming (especially slotting in all kinds of master/sub/quartz) but also very flexible choice to build whatever kind of party you want, or just throw in a waifu party which also works. Unfortunately this is only playable for Endless Corridor, while outside of Endless Corridor, you have to use whatever characters are given by the story.
Well well well, there is also a gacha system, and its very grindy and annoying because the loot pool is way too big, and the chance of you getting what you want may make you give up on farming for the gacha. I farmed till my kidney got stroke though, it was a fun experience.
But in all seriousness, Hajimari really showed how Rean growed up as a character and it felt good to read. Llyod come into an understanding what he needs to value. being saved by a doll and continue to live to atone his sins. Play it, feel it, get over it, start Kuro no Kiseki, let's go.

It's not the best port, and it's very rough around the edges, but I'm just glad we finally have someone bringing these games to PC in a timely manner.
In just a year, CLE translated this game into 2 different languages AND made a Switch+PC port. It takes NISA 2-3 years to just to get a single language done. By the time NISA gets around to translating+porting this, it will have been 3 years since it launched in Japan. Kuro will be two years old, and Kuro 2 will be on the horizon. The west will be 2 games behind by the time we get NISAs version of this.
As for the port itself, I think people are extremely overstating it's downsides simply because they're comparing it to Durante's work. Which isn't fair since the Durante Falcom ports are basically the gold standard when it comes to making a PC port.
30/60 FPS locks are standard for 90% of JRPG PC releases (and shouldn't be an issue in the age of G-sync monitors). Custom key bindings should really be added in, but at the same time, what are you doing playing a JRPG with a keyboard + mouse? Performance is fine. Playing at 1440p with a 2060 and have had zero FPS drops below 60. Loading times are a non issue if you have a CPU and SSD from the last 5-6 years. The only real issue is that the image is a bit blurry. Doesn't look as crisp as it should on 1440p. Aside from that, the port of more than fine in it's current state, and will likely be patched in the near future to bring further improvements.

As of now, Hajimari/Reverie has become my favorite game in the series. As much as I liked the characters and story in the Cold Steel arc, I did find some of the writing and a certain plot element in CSIV to be inconsistent and a little bad at times. Hajimari did a fantastic job at fixing a lot of the issues I had with that and as the end to the first half of the series, it closed off a lot of the character arcs and storylines dating back to sky and crossbell, while also setting stuff up for the Calvard arc and beyond which I am really hyped up for. Also C route and picnic squad are awesome.
The gameplay in Haji was quite honestly the most fun I had in the series up to this point, the AI here actually gave me a run for my money at certain points, and the soundtrack was really great, Reverse Babel has surpassed Spiral of Erebos and To The Future as my favorite final dungeon theme. 4.5/5

This is now my favourite game in the series. Such a satisfying conclusion to the hundreds of hours of storytelling, whilst simultaneously telling a touching individual story that sets up the future.
Thank you Falcom, and Zerofield for the translation.

I haven't finished the game yet, but it runs fine at 60fps 1080p well with my current setup (will say that below if people wanna compare for themselves).
EDIT: Have since finished the game. In some cutscenes where there's a lot of characters on screen it can drop performance a bit, but it picks back up immediately after.
The ZeroField overlay makes it viable because I really do not wanna wait for 2023.
Time to liberate Crossbell
Game is well optimized (utilizes all 10 cores of my CPU). There's option to lock FPS into 60 or 30 for those with older machines. No ultra wide support, unfortunately and so far it's the only con. There is few gfx options including antialiasing which is always good to have. Save menu improved greatly compared to ps4 counterpart. But THE BEST thing about the game is, ALL DLC'S ARE INCLUDED IN THE GAME! (except for few exclusive costumes) Those dlc's costs fortune on psn, so I'm pleased to see everything included in the base game.
Currently I've passed the prologue and so far, I have no issues with the game at all. For all the Crossbell duology fans it's a must play game and in my honest opinion, this is the best Trails game since Trails to Azure. I can recommend this game wholeheartedly and for those who can't play in Japanese, I have a solution, just go to zerofield website where you can find full translation of the game with all extra chapters included.
Story
Some time after the events of Cold Steel IV, Hajimari no Kiseki, for the first time in the series, follows three different protagonists: Rean Schwarzer, who was main character of the Cold Steel games; Lloyd Bannings, who was main character of Zero and Ao; and the mysterious “C” ( i wonder who ooooh??)
The main story in Hajmari is told from three different group's point of view. You can switch between them at any time though sometimes one path or more will be locked because the other paths need to catch up to avoid spoilers. Falcom also takes these concept of three viewpoints to try some new ideas and it's fucking good!!
Gameplay
The gameplay is same as Cold of Steel games, there is some sidequests and lots of conversations with npc characters. Hajimari no Kiseki also has similar style as Trails in the Sky The Third, a dungeon crawler with loot, character episode doors and mini-games.
Battle System
The battle system is still broken as F even the highest difficulty. There's not much balance in the game, especially with having tons of characters. (there's about 50 playable characters pssth fan service) and every attack/quartz/equipment from the whole CS series available. You can make your own dream team of your favorite characters. I'm glad Falcom has finally created a fun style to grind to max level. There's also a new assault gauge where your whole party jumps in and attacks, crafts or use Arts.
Visuals and sounds
The music is AAA Falcom quality, the game series has improved animation graphically. I saw a few funny bugs in my playthrough but I'm not graphics people story, world, characters, music and gameplay are what makes a good game.
Finally
After all the stupidity I saw in Sen no Kiseki games except (Sen no Kiseki 3) Hajimari no Kiseki goes into one of my best games I’ve played in the Trails series. Falcom fixed all the things that annoyed me in Steel games except for two events oh boy i don't talk about them they don't exist in my game. C. and his team are the best thing I’ve seen in a long time since AO no Kiseki. I’m also glad that fans of Crossbell games get a lot of love in this story and even Rean grew a little in my eyes into a big boy. This was a really good ending for Erebonia arc as well as Crossbell games.
i'll give it 8/10 gg Falcom!!!!
