Played for an hour and rather liked it. Came back later to resume and the controller left stick only lets me move sideways to the right now. What??? I was enjoying this game, but not going to be forced to do keyboard because the controller scheme is apparently broken.

Great game,
Gameplay is solid, guns feel good, enemies are great!
Rogue like elements are good! I wish it had a big boss on each sector.
Each run is quick, makes it very handy!
Single player is good, co-op is very good. Not too many players tho! But when someone join your match is guns blaze!
Art style is good,
Is very good in what it is! a bit short tho or maybe I really enjoy the game, because of it I wish they have more bosses more guns more maps!

The game is: Fine
The main appeal of the game is your Pet Gun, which is cute! It's enjoyable to send it out to attack things and pick up shoulder mounted equipment. Their aesthetic choice of bio-mechanical mutation combinations is well designed, and I'm sure plenty often compared to Dead Space. The enemy designs are alright, but you see alot of the same guys over and over with little to no variation.
Otherwise though, it doesn't have much else going for it. It's not really doing anything new or interesting, or a game play feel that I couldn't get somewhere else. The gun-play is unremarkable, the movement feels clunky, the upgrades are slow to progress and barely noticeable. It also tries to go for this Rogue-Like mission frame where you can get upgrades during a mission, but they only last for that ONE mission. Which, is fine. A little power bonus for a time, but they are almost not worth wasting time going out of your way searching for them. Oh, and the Rip-Out feature that you can do to enemies is, just, so subnominal I almost never noticed when it had actually happened.
And oh geez, the AI compnaion's voice acting is... I don't want to be mean about the VA, she's doing a fine job but not for this kind of game. It comes across too much like a Tik Tok tutorial or something, there's just something off about her tone for the setting, doesn't match up. Kind of annoying.
I generally found myself just sortof walking around from point to point, like I was looking through a museum, shooting enemies with little aplomb and moving on. Just couldn't get engaged. I can't imagine playing with friends would change that.
Oh god and the Web-Attack that some enemies can do is so annoying and can be run ending because the "melee to break free" didn't alway register, taking upwards of 5 or so hits if you're unlucky.
Anyways, it's put together well enough, but doesn't have enough to really stand on it's own, let alone stand out. At least not yet. The thing is, there is clearly a lot of integrity and care put into this, it's not slap dash or ramshackled together by anymeans. So I feel kind of bad giving it a thumbs down. But it just doesn't feel like it's "There" quite yet. I think that can change though. I'd like to see that

Its all great idea and bad execution. If you like your buggy games to not work correctly and drop you at each round then this game is for you. try it on discount or full price if you hate yourself and want to reward bad developers.

Good game, but at the moment it is a bit bare-bones.
Playing it is fun, but one gets the impression that it was pushed out of E.A. prematurely.
If the dev-team keeps working on it with updates and expansions, it could become great in the future.

Ripout has solid foundations, it has interesting concepts, but it executes on them poorly. Everything was functional, the progression seems unique, and I do like the concept of having to drop my primary weapon for utility or support options, but a lot of the stuff built around all of that just didn't lift it up high enough to stick around.
Regarding the horror tag, it's not quite descriptive. There are elements of body horror, I guess, but the game itself doesn't scare or horrify me. It hasn't left me feeling paranoid. A lot of bad horror doesn't leave quiet time to let you feel that paranoia or build tension. Ripout has it, but in the wrong spot. The quiet time is spent feeling safe, rather than on edge. When I walk into a room, I know there are enemies. I also know that once those enemies are dead, the room will be pretty much safe, until I complete an objective. Predictability nullifies the potential for scares. The game needs to break my trust more often, to let me think it's safe, and be tricking me into letting my guard down. That's what it needs to effectively be horror.
I found it particularly annoying when I would give up my primary weapon to disarm an enemy, only to have it immediately rearmed by what felt like RNG. It definitely seems like you can have your pet "rip out" (see? name) the enemy's armaments, but then they can just, with no cooldown or penalty, pick up a new weapon (or utility item) with no delay.
Perhaps I haven't given it long enough to get to that point, but I gave it an hour with a friend (which usually helps) and found it very uncompelling, but even on sale, I don't see the value here yet. I may come back and check on this game here and there, it might just be a diamond in the rough. Maybe it'll scratch itches for others that it missed for me.
