A small project turning to this is great meaning. I hope in the future to play part 2. Good Work

I found myself greatly enjoying this game a lot more than I thought I would. I had read previous reviews and sat on the fence on this one for quite some time before finally buying it. Fortunately the developer fixed the most glaring issues and it is a pretty darned solid game. There are slight nuances compared to other grid based dungeon crawlers, but that makes this one a bit unique and a challenge - in a very good way. If you take the time to remap the default keys to a more standardized setup that most of us are accustomed to, this games is a blast!

Edit: The game is amazing now. I strongly suggest to buy for any fan of the dungeon crawling genre. Please disregard the original review. Worst UI ever. As mentioned no key binding, but in this game that is truly a problem, because the dev decided that arrow keys for movement, 's' and 'd' to strafe, and other ridicolous combinations are good enough. No mouse whatsoever, not even for the menus. The 'ESC' key does nothing, I had to exit the game by pressing alt+f4 because after pressing every key i could not find which one access the menu. Don't be fooled by the great graphics; the inept control scheme, amateurish gameplay, terrible UI and other ill conceived design decisions, make the game unplayable. Considering this is NOT an early access, I don't expect any of those concerns to be fixed any time soon. Avoid like the plague. Edit: My original review was harsh, and based more on frustration on controls rather than the overall design. After playing the game a bit more, the UI still feels clunky, the non standard controls are disorienting, keybinding does help, but still feels awkward. The game itself is actually well designed: nice graphics, there's depth to the combat mechanics, world building overall feels original. Movement is a bit awkward, because of the FOV the dev chose, which makes it feel as if you are moving in half steps rather than full steps (like it looks as if you reached the end of the hall, but you are 1 step away); you get used to it, but doesn't feel as natural (this is probably because other dungeon crawlers use a wider FOV, it's not necessarily a problem, just not standard). A UI redesign is really all this game needs. When I did the original review I did not see an "early access" label, and mistakenly thought the game was finished and out for some time, which led me to believe the game was older than it really is. Given my observations posted in this edit, the game does deserve a chance, since its really only the UI what concerns me. I will leave the post as it is for reference, my answer to the DEV still stands, however I will actually recommend it considering the overall design is good and the fact that the game is actually new.

Gray Mantis. This game is crashing upon starting a new game. I cannot even play it to give it an honest review. Fresh install crashes on starting new game on two of my PCs. I need the game to start. I am a huge fan of this genre and I want to support and encourage development of these types of games. Please fix it or I will need to get a refund. Right now I cannot recommend this game in its current state but I will change my review afterwards if it launches on fresh install. I shouldn't have to find workarounds to play your game on my system. It wastes my time. I will give this a steam recommendation for now because I don't want to contribute to the negativity here. From what I saw in the trailer it looks pretty cool and I can judge for myself later.

à very atmospheric dungeon with nice sounds and music. the way of combat is new for me. that the monsters are not comming to you . the only frustrating thing is you cannot safe the game . when you must quit the game for the doorbell or you must do something else on your computer. you must play the whole level over again..also when you are die.. and a hint for new levels or D.O.T.D 2 more puzzles as in level 10 before the dragon room

This is a very good action RPG dungeon crawler with excellent graphics, very good sound effects and music which creates a very good atmosphere. The game play mechanics can take a while to get use to and the RPG elements and character development are very limited but this is offset by the exploration, action and combat - there is an element of 'Dark Souls' in the game play. For example, if you die then you have restart the whole dungeon level again. Also, the combat in the game is all about timing your attacks and avoiding the monsters attacking you. Some elements of the game play, especially the combat are quite innovative but at the same time the combat can get a bit repetitive at times. The auto map in the game very good. The game took me about 17 hours to complete - I died a few times so had to replay the relevant dungeon levels. Each dungeon level takes roughly about one hour to complete in general. If you like games like Dungeon Master, Legend of Grimrock etc it is definitely worth giving this game a go. However, it does take a few hours of playing the game to really "get into it" and want to play more. I bought the game when it was on sale and it was very cheap. Very good value for the money !

Terrible game, mostly due to lack of help. Didn't know for the longest time how to equip the first sword, and no guide to give directions. Didn't know how to save a game, just learned that you can't, the game saves when you complete a floor. Wanted to find a good dungeon crawler, this wasn't it.

Very good first-person crawler. Has its own unique twist on the genre that is worth trying. I will return at a later date to play more, first impressions are very good! Thanks dev for creating a cool dungeon crawler which is *always* welcomed! :)

HUGE monumental update by the dev have made this game really shine. Long range throwing daggers, moddable keyboard layout, audio & music sliders, visual upgrades, health bar of foes, a whole new level, new foes, etc, etc. ... the works. Usually play offline, but went online to review after these surprising upgrades, kudos to the dev, fine job indeed. Very impressed, now highly recommend the game.

Having nearly reached the end of dungeon 2: This is... okay. Graphics are decent for an indie, but overall the game feels awkward and simplistic. Bug: If the map is up, you can't change items in the inventory. Thoughts: 1: Escape should be a general exit from all menus/screens. 2: There should be sound/music volume controls. 3: I second the reviewer that noted the FOV was awkward. It does feel like moving in half steps, and if you watch the map, you are. This isn't something that necessarily needs to be changed, but it is a departure from the genre norm. 4: Combat is rather simplistic in this iteration and could use a re-think. Perhaps a rock, paper, scissors arrangement of strengths/vulnerabilities for dealing damage and a similar set of dodge/damage reduction actions for the player? Random, untelegraphed behavior should generally be avoided as it means the player cannot learn/manage. 5: Some form of ranged attack/defense would also be welcome. It is a little odd to have a gun that only works at point blank range as well as creatures that have ranged attacks but won't use them until you have been to point-blank range. 6: Walk pace should be modestly faster. 7: Would be nice to either allow the fountains to overfill the flask, or re-filling the flask only drains the fountains of the replenished charges instead of completely consuming the fountain. 8: Do the mushrooms provide any benefit in the game? (the first one killed me, so I never tried another) If not, ditch them after the first. If so, some kind of explanation should be available, preferably in-game. 9: Eye interactions should both be repeatable and the player immobility instantly terminated with any key press. 10: Have some kind of indicator on the map for visited but unpressed switches. 11: Unvisited sections of the map revealed by the map item should look different than visited sections. 12: The player should get the gun after no more than a couple packs of bullets. I was getting concerned and thought I missed something when I had all these bullets (almost max capacity) and no gun to shoot them with. 13: Player should be able to skip the intro. Escape key is the recommended way. 14: Should be able to scroll around the map. This also means a re-center command for the map should also be available (though that might be as simple as closing then reopening the map).
