Bloody paws unleashed is a nice short game, mixing platforming and brawling. I don't have nostalgia for the original game. The controls are a bit clunky, but there is quality overall and attention to details. Recommended!

Short but pretty tough game. Its hard when you are new to it, but when you get the idea how to play it, as well as the boss' attack patterns, its a breeze. Be careful though, whatever stage you start off with, is what you'll end up with if you get a Game Over. BUT, theres hope if you do well on the arcade bonus which gives you lives and additional powerup if you are lucky enough, which will help you get through the stages easier.
Well made game, and the plot is pretty much about romance as well. I enjoyed it.

Played through this on the Steam Deck and had a great time. I'm not really familiar with the ZX Spectrum original, but this one had a great retro Altered Beast vibe going on (not really a great comparison because this game's way better).
I'm a huge geek for single plane side scrolling beat 'em ups, this scratched that itch perfectly. There's a lot of variety in the level design, the boss battles are unique and all require different strategies.
One thing that was weird was my first time opening the game it opened up the Beats of Rage engine launcher without the game popping up. Closing and restarting launched me right into the game every time after, not sure if this only happens on the Steam Deck.
But yeah, need more quality single plane beat 'em ups, thank you for this!

Really nicely done remake.
The game feel is still 8-bit home computer side scroller, but the mechanics feel way better and there is much less jank and clunk.
Nice challenging gameplay
Not Updated for Modern Audiences!
But it is updated for Modern gamers. Meet Bloody (Yes, that really is his name...), a werewolf who seems to like Street Fighter and has the sweetest moves ripped from the latter in this 2d scroller. Bloody Paws Unleashed is a remake of an old 2d scroller of a melodramatic rage-filled male (yes...he's a guy this time...yay!) werewolf whose werewife was seemingly kidnapped by some mysterious malefactor and sets out to seek his spouse...and hopefully render to bloody pieces the culprit.
Bloody sets out but there are strange things in the city. There seems to be an army of Halloween freaks like himself set out to hinder his path along with some random drunks, cheeky brats and some flung playthings but Bloody thankfully, isn't limited to random paw poking this time. He can uppercut, head stomp, invincible lariat and even throw some honest to guileness...sonic booms at the miscreants. At the end of each locale, a mysterious lightning bolt from possibly his nemesis strikes some dusty landmark that in an "alternate older reality", would be just some picturesque piece of junk in the background but in this time period, makes it come to life and try to kill you.
There are 6 locales with the first level being easy peezy and gradually getting harder...but the second half has quite a difficulty spike. Bloody will most likely have his bloody heiny kicked in the latter part unless he masters every one of his moves absolutely down to knowing the edges of his move hitboxes. Game length is comparable to a classic SNES 2d scroller. Although the game is short, I find repeated playthroughs quite enjoyable just like I used to in my old SNES games. The game difficulty isn't hair-tearing frustrating but still challenging and keeps you on your toes even when mastered.
Bloody is a joy to play and best of all, powered by 100% refreshing toxic masculinity
which soon clashes with 100% toxic feminity.
Dude, the soundtrack is really good, so good that I don't even want to just like record it from the game itself, I'd be fully willing to pay for it, so release that bitch already!
As for the Game:
Pretty standard stuff: Gameplay old as shit*, hard and unfair as shit but now also pretty as shit so if you're SuperBestFriendsMatt who appears in the credits as a patreon backer, you're bound to enjoy this, if it's not too much of a bother for you to put down that new Powerwolf album and 4K remastered version of American Werewolf in London, then this is also for you, if you're not either of those, then your mileage may vary.
*Doesn't support sticks on a gamepad and can basically be played on a 3-Button Genesis controller, is filled with le old Vidjagames meme of unfair Bats and all the other shit the AVGN warned us about 15 years ago.

Really great little beat 'em up! Starts getting pretty tricky after a while
and the ending's pretty lackluster rn
, though (But hey: It's Early Access, everything's subject to change/improvement)
Definitely worth the $5 and I'm looking forward to seeing how this one develops!

Forget Werewolf The Apocalypse: Earth Blood, here is a hair-raising challenging beat-em up plat-former that will surely sink your tooth and claw into your skin. Bloody Paws Unleashed is an expanded remake of a really obscure old computer game of the same name that was developed by a Spanish developer, Mar Entertainment and released for the ZX Spectrum and MSX in 1990. The story goes about a werewolf who must rescue his wife, Samantha (who ironically is also a werewolf) from Frankenstein. However reaching his castle ain't gonna be easy as the desperate wolf must face his goons of zombies, invisible men, bats, jump roping mummies, sleeping super villains, skateboarding gnomes, vacuum cleaning witches, and rolling tennis balls (WTF!?). This beat-em up plat-former is a cross between Double Dragon and Castlevania with its simple yet fun beat-em up mechanics and challenging platforming. The game also reminds me of the obscure NES game, Werewolf the Last Warrior. The in game cut scenes are told in an almost comic book style story telling like the Sega Genesis game, Comix Zone. I like how the game has a sense of humor with some of its ridiculous enemies and its damsel in distress. But also the game's graphics and art style reminds me of games that would be in the arcades, Amiga, Sega Genesis, and Super Nintendo between the late 1980's - early 90's. Plus I enjoy its killer soundtrack with a mix of rock and synth. As a bonus, the original 1990 game is included. The only flaws I can point out is that the platforming can get tedious, especially against some really annoying enemies and after you die after losing all 5 lives and whenever you load to continue you left off, you only get 1 life. But overall, I definitely enjoyed this beastly gem and a fun play for the spooky season.
